CHAPTER 210: CHAPTER 210 ICE SEAL(1)_1

"Let’s go, Grandpa and the others are waiting for us in the dining room."

"Mm," Shangguan You responded, taking Shangguan Qing’s hand as the two headed for the dining room. It was afternoon, mealtime, so the restaurant was bustling and full.

In the private room, Shangguan You was momentarily stunned. She had not expected to see members of the Yu Family here. Surprisingly, Shangguan Zhi and Yu Zhibin weren’t at each other’s throats, a rare moment of peaceful coexistence between them.

"Grandpa, Uncle, Aunt, Dad, Grandpa Yu, Uncle Yu, Aunt Yu," Shangguan You greeted everyone politely, casting a glance at Yu Zifeng and Yu Zijin.

"You, my dear girl, and Qing, my boy, take your seats," Shangguan Hao said.

"Yes, Grandpa." The two sat down to Shangguan Hao’s right, with Yu Zifeng and Yu Zijin beside them.

Shangguan Zhi said with a smile, looking at his grandchildren, who were a veritable golden boy and jade girl, "Old Yu, it seems our two families are truly fated to meet, even bumping into each other here."

"Mm," replied the Yu patriarch, not elaborating. The usually spirited Yu patriarch now had a slightly flushed face, with fine beads of sweat on his forehead. Shangguan You frowned slightly as she observed him. He seems to be experiencing chest tightness and shortness of breath.

If the Yu patriarch is uncomfortable, why isn’t he saying anything? Why is he enduring it? Is it because he doesn’t want to lose face in front of my grandpa?

"Grandpa Yu, are you feeling unwell?" Shangguan You asked softly, her question drawing everyone’s attention to Yu Zhibin.

"A little chest tightness," Yu Zhibin confessed, his old face growing even redder. He didn’t want to lose face in front of Shangguan Zhi. They had been rivals their entire lives, and especially now, during the New Year festivities, he couldn’t afford to show weakness, even though his chest truly felt awful.

"Dad, how are you feeling?"

"Dad, let’s go down the mountain and get to a hospital quickly," urged the two Yu sons, worried as they watched Yu Zhibin toughing it out. Although there were doctors here, they weren’t specialists, and they didn’t dare risk it.

"Grandfather, where are you feeling unwell?" Yu Zifeng’s phoenix eyes briefly swept over Shangguan You. No one else noticed Grandfather was amiss, but she did.

"I’m fine! What are you all making such a fuss about? Aren’t you afraid of becoming a laughingstock?" Yu Zhibin barked, silencing his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. Everyone who knew him understood that the Yu patriarch was the type to suffer in silence rather than lose face.

Shangguan Zhi teased, "Old Yu, if you’re not feeling well, go see a doctor. What’s the point of pretending to be fine?" No wonder this old fellow was a bit off today, not even rising to my bait. So, he was unwell!

"Who’s pretending? My body is in no worse shape than yours!" Yu Zhibin glared fiercely at Shangguan Zhi, then took several deep breaths, his old face flushed crimson.

"Grandpa Yu, let me take a look at you," Shangguan You offered with a gentle smile. Without waiting for Yu Zhibin to refuse, she had already moved to his side, delicately placing her index finger on his pulse.

"This young lady from the Shangguan Family knows traditional Chinese medicine?" Yu Zhibin allowed Shangguan You to take his pulse, speaking with some surprise. Traditional Chinese medicine isn’t easy to learn, after all.

"I know a little, but I’m not yet an expert. Grandpa Yu, do you dare let me try to treat you?" Shangguan You asked with a gentle smile, her clear eyes sparkling brilliantly as she gazed at Yu Zhibin.

Yu Zifeng and Shangguan Qing watched Shangguan You, their breaths catching unexpectedly. Is this also a true facet of Shangguan You?

"Old Yu," Shangguan Zhi said provocatively to the Yu patriarch, "my granddaughter, You, is willing to examine you out of respect for me. Otherwise, even if you were dying right in front of her, she wouldn’t lift a finger. Now, whether you dare to accept her treatment is your decision. Miss this chance, and there won’t be another. Think carefully, Old Yu."

He was quite aware of You’s medical arts. Ever since she treated him, his health had greatly improved. Even the military doctors said he was showing signs of recovery. If things continued this way, he might live to be a hundred! This was all thanks to those medicinal pills she gave him.

"Who says I don’t dare? I, your old man, have never been afraid of anything! Young lady from the Shangguan family, go ahead and treat me. Whether you cure me or not, no one will dare blame you," Yu Zhibin declared defiantly, glaring at Shangguan Zhi. He wouldn’t back down; at worst, it was only death, and there was no one in this world he had ever feared.

"Dad, she’s so young. Shouldn’t we go to the hospital instead?"

"Yes, Dad. It takes a long time to master medicine. Shangguan You is so young; although her future accomplishments may be limitless, she’s still too inexperienced right now," the two Yu daughters-in-law softly advised. It wasn’t that they distrusted the Shangguan Family, but rather that Shangguan You seemed far too young.

"Grandfather, I think we should let Miss Shangguan try," Yu Zifeng commented, his phoenix eyes glancing at Shangguan You as he spoke calmly.

Yu Zhibin shot his two daughters-in-law a glare, then looked at Yu Zifeng with approval. His daughters-in-law were muddled; his grandson was more far-sighted. If Shangguan You didn’t truly possess skills, would that old Shangguan let her treat him? They were political rivals! If Shangguan’s granddaughter actually caused his death through treatment, could the Shangguan Family escape unscathed? The Shangguans must be confident to offer this.

"Alright, young lady, go ahead. Treat me as you see fit. I was feeling a bit of chest tightness. Even if your treatment makes me pass out, this old man won’t blame you."

"Heh, Grandpa Yu, you have quite the sense of humor. If I made you pass out, your family would eat me alive! If you’re truly not at ease, perhaps it’s better if you go down the mountain. Although the air here is good, the weather is cold, and your chest tightness has been going on for about an hour now, hasn’t it?" Shangguan You said with a light smile.

"True, this chest tightness did start right after I saw that old Shangguan. Since I’ve come all this way, I can’t just leave so easily. Go ahead and treat me."

Shangguan Zhi’s face creased with irritation. It’s rare for me to try and be a good person, yet I still get doubted! "Old Yu, are you doubting my granddaughter?" he snapped. "In that case, let your own granddaughter treat you! You, my dear, come over here. Grandpa’s head is a little dizzy. Quickly give Grandpa a few medicinal pills to help me feel better."

"Dad, where are you feeling unwell?" Shangguan Qing asked, concerned.

"Silly girl, Grandpa isn’t feeling well. Hurry over and take a look at Grandpa," Shangguan Qing urged Shangguan You, equally irritated. Offering treatment out of kindness, only to be met with suspicion! Our Shangguan Family won’t bother playing the good Samaritan if it’s not appreciated.
