CHAPTER 240: CHAPTER 240 SHAMELESS YE SANSHAO (1)_1

Although he knew it was a dream, that it wasn’t real, a thorn was deeply embedded in his heart. It pricked him, causing such acute pain that he felt unbearably uncomfortable. His agitation increased as he looked at Wanqian lying on the bed. "Hmm... Hmm..." Wanqian mumbled in her sleep. Shen Cheng gave her a deep look, quickly changed his clothes, slammed the door shut with a BANG, and strode away.

He couldn’t bear the sound of Wanqian’s contented moans any longer and had no desire to return. He couldn’t satisfy her, yet she fulfilled herself over and over again in her dreams.

The sound of the car starting up resonated. Shen Cheng drove his sports car into the night, leaving the Shen Family estate. Meanwhile, Wanqian, still in bed, continued to groan, oblivious to his departure. She remained hopelessly lost in her dream world.

Shen Cheng accelerated to over a hundred miles per hour, the car speeding through the city like a gust of wind towards a remote suburb. With a SCREECH, the car skidded to a halt in front of an ancient house.

With a THUD, Shen Cheng slammed the car door shut. In a single leap, he was over the wall and into the yard. He stared into the pitch-black courtyard where a figure stood before him.

"What are you doing here again?" The moment Shen Cheng landed inside the wall, an aged voice, thick with dissatisfaction, spoke. An old man appeared before Shen Cheng. He wore a gray, old-fashioned Tang suit and had a white beard. His face was etched with the marks of a harsh life and a barely perceptible trace of malice.

He clearly didn’t welcome Shen Cheng’s arrival. In fact, he never liked Shen Cheng visiting, no matter when.

"Can’t I come?" Shen Cheng retorted, his tone harsh and his face grim. He walked straight past the old man.

"Go back," the aged voice said, tinged with faint helplessness, as he watched Shen Cheng stride past him.

"I want to see her," Shen Cheng said, moving past the old man and heading upstairs.

"No, not today. Come back in a few days," the old man said, stepping in front of Shen Cheng to block his path.

"I’m very annoyed today, and my mood is even worse, so don’t bother me! I’ve done everything you asked regarding past matters. Now I just want to see her. Can’t I even do that? Stop meddling so much!" Shen Cheng roared, unleashing the fury suppressed in his heart as his tall figure marched upstairs.

"Shen Cheng, you cannot go up today!" The old man darted forward, once again blocking Shen Cheng’s path and preventing him from ascending the stairs. The person upstairs was not someone Shen Cheng could afford to offend.

"Why not? Did you do something to her? Tell me! Why won’t you let me go up?" Shen Cheng yelled, venting his pent-up frustration.

"Shen Cheng, you should know, she’s just a living dead," the old man’s aged voice sounded as he continued to block the way upstairs.

"So what if she’s a living dead? At least a living dead person won’t betray me, won’t stab a knife into my heart! Get out of my way!" Shen Cheng bellowed. He shoved the old man aside and stormed up the stairs with fierce determination. Just as he reached the third floor, an icy chill assaulted him, making him shiver involuntarily.

Immediately, an overwhelming murderous aura swept towards Shen Cheng, draining the color from his face. A gust of wind knocked him to the ground. He clearly felt the approaching force but couldn’t dodge it. He could only lie there, eyes wide, watching a foot kick out towards him.

"Show mercy!" the old man’s aged voice cried out. Instantly, a gust of wind flashed by, deflecting the foot that was about to strike Shen Cheng, sparing him the blow.

"Didn’t you say no one would come here? Who is he? Why is he here?" a grim voice demanded. A dark figure abruptly appeared before Shen Cheng, its eyes, filled with intense hostility, glaring fiercely at him. If Shangguan You were here, she would surely be astonished to find Zhuge Ao hiding in this place.

"He’s not an outsider," the old man said, helping Shen Cheng to his feet and glaring at Zhuge Ao. To be so deeply poisoned yet still able to control it and launch such ferocious attacks is truly commendable, he thought. However, this poison is beyond my ability to cure, and certainly beyond anyone else’s.

"Hmph! While I’m recuperating, I don’t want to see anyone. I don’t care who he is; he must leave. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless," Zhuge Ao stated grimly. Then, with a leap, he landed cross-legged atop the Crystal Coffin and entered a meditative state.

Shen Cheng was still in shock, his face pale. But when he saw the man sitting on the Crystal Coffin, his expression turned livid.

"I’ve moved her to the ice chamber," the old man explained, already pulling Shen Cheng away. "He’s injured and needs the Crystal Coffin to recuperate. Let’s go. I’ll see you out."

"Who is that man? Why are you so afraid of him? Why did you move her out of the Crystal Coffin? Why?" Shen Cheng demanded.

"He’s from the Inferno Sect. He’s injured and came to me for help. He has a foul temper, so unless it’s something important, it’s best you don’t come again. I’ll protect what you want me to protect, so don’t cause trouble for me, or for yourself. Wanqian is a good girl; treat her well and don’t dwell on unnecessary things," the old man said as he escorted Shen Cheng to the outer side of the wall. He knew that only the Crystal Coffin could currently suppress the poison in Zhuge Ao; otherwise, Zhuge Ao would already be dead.

Zhuge Ao wouldn’t leave until an antidote was found. Countless people were searching for him, and while this place was relatively safe, there was no guarantee that no one would find him here.

"Haven’t you already washed your hands of such matters? Why take in someone from the Inferno Sect? And I’ll handle things between Wanqian and me; you don’t need to interfere!" Shen Cheng’s expression turned ugly. It would have been better if Wanqian hadn’t been mentioned; the reminder of her earlier state reignited the fury within him.

"Years ago, I incurred a debt to him, and now I must repay it. These are not matters for you to concern yourself with. You should leave now and don’t come back unless it’s important. I will do my utmost to fulfill the promise I made to you. As for Wanqian, how you treat her is your decision. I just hope you won’t regret it in the future," the old man said, having already leaped back onto the top of the wall, his tone detached.
