Chapter 312: Dad, Your Credibility Has Dropped
CHAPTER 312: CHAPTER 312: DAD, YOUR CREDIBILITY HAS DROPPED
After just one day together, a trace of confusion appeared in Yang Wangcheng’s eyes!
Why is this person different from what I found out?
She seems quite seasoned in some of her clinical handling!
By the time it was afternoon and end of shift, Xiao Li told Yang Wangcheng to leave first, "Yang Wangcheng, you can head home. I won’t be on duty tomorrow, so you can rest at home or come to the hospital if you want. If you come, just follow behind Dr. Fang and observe more."
"I can do the night shift too," Yang Wangcheng said plainly.
Without even lifting her eyes, Xiao Li replied, "No rush, there will be plenty of opportunities to do night shifts, no need for you tonight since you just arrived."
Seeing her attitude, Yang Wangcheng didn’t say anything more and just left work early.
After he left, Yue Wenwen immediately came over, "Sis, this person doesn’t seem as annoying as in the morning."
Xiao Li smiled, "He’s just a little ambitious and a bit arrogant. As long as he adjusts his mentality, he’ll naturally give off a better impression."
Just as they were talking, the phone rang. Yue Wenwen sneaked a glance and saw it was Qin Xiao calling, so she wisely stepped away.
Xiao Li answered the call with a smile, "Uncle."
"Nini, do you have time now?"
"Yes, I do! What’s up?"
Qin Xiao chuckled lightly, "I’ve brought you dinner, come down and eat if you have time."
"I’ll be down right away!"
Saying this, Xiao Li hung up and walked out of the office. As she passed by Yue Wenwen, she instructed, "Wenwen, watch things for a bit, I’m going downstairs, and I don’t need dinner ordered for me."
Yue Wenwen immediately understood, "You’re having another loving dinner, huh! Spreading dog food is shameful!"
Xiao Li left the office amidst Yue Wenwen’s envious gaze and ran all the way down.
Arriving on the first floor, she saw Qin Xiao waiting as usual. Xiao Li walked over, they hugged, and then headed towards the parking area.
In the van, Xiao Li asked, "Uncle, why did you come?"
Although Qin Xiao had been discharged, his body hadn’t fully recovered yet, and he still walked quite slowly. Because of this, he hadn’t returned to work in the lab yet.
Even coming to the hospital, he didn’t drive himself. Driving was a bit risky for him now, so he had a driver bring him.
"I was bored at home, so I came," Qin Xiao said as he opened the thermos for Xiao Li. Tonight’s dinner wasn’t takeout from outside, it was brought from home, all dishes made by Aunt Wu.
As soon as the lid was lifted, the aroma of the food wafted out, and Xiao Li quickly picked up her chopsticks and started eating. The department had been quite busy in the afternoon, so she was really hungry.
After several bites, Xiao Li finally had the chance to speak to Qin Xiao, "Uncle, the kids are home by now, right? You didn’t eat with them, but came to join me instead. Do they mind?"
When Qin Xiao left with the packed food, he packed not just for Xiao Li but for himself too, so now he was eating with Xiao Li.
After swallowing his mouthful, Qin Xiao said calmly, "I feel the kids are quite used to this parents-only feeling. When I mentioned going to the hospital to eat with you, none of them seemed surprised."
(At home, the little ones: Dad, Mom, thanks to your upbringing, we’ve grown into the most understanding light bulbs. We turn on when needed and automatically switch off when not.)
As they chatted while eating, Xiao Li updated Qin Xiao about Yang Wangcheng, causing a slight frown on Qin Xiao’s face, "If you don’t like dealing with him, I can..."
Xiao Li shook her head, "No... Bringing interns along is quite normal, it’s not about liking or disliking dealing with them.
His character may not be appealing, but his professional knowledge is decent. He majors in surgery, but I asked him some questions about respiratory medicine today, and he answered them well.
He even knows some obscure problems, indicating he’s put in effort. If such a student is well mentored, it could be quite nice."
Qin Xiao nodded, "As long as you don’t find it troublesome."
"Not at all! Well... I’m full." Xiao Li said, putting down her utensils.
As soon as she put down her utensils, she immediately hugged Qin Xiao, "Uncle, I miss you so much! I can’t stay home with you tonight again, won’t you feel bored!"
Qin Xiao hugged her, "Not bored, really. After all, with those kids at home, it’s just slightly lonely without you at night.
Has your new schedule come out yet?"
Xiao Li nodded, "Yes, now that the department is fully staffed, the shifts won’t be all day long anymore. Looking at it, starting the day after tomorrow, it’s about two days of day shift, one night shift, then a day off. Around two night shifts a week."
"Hmm, this scheduling is better. The previous shifts were too exhausting," Qin Xiao remarked with satisfaction.
Xiao Li nodded, "Yes, previously it couldn’t be helped due to staffing shortages! Alright, I need to go back upstairs; I’ll spend quality time with you when I get off shift tomorrow morning."
Qin Xiao kissed Xiao Li’s forehead, "Okay, off you go!"
Xiao Li got off the car with a smile, and just as she was about to leave, she remembered something and turned to say, "You’re not planning to stay here all night again, are you?"
Qin Xiao smiled, "No, I’m heading back soon."
"Okay, make sure to go back! I’ll call Mianmian later."
Qin Xiao smiled, "Alright."
Hmm, the plan to stay and watch is spoiled!
Xiao Li left, and resignedly, Qin Xiao headed home too. Shortly after he got back, Xiao Li really called; Mianmian brought the phone over when she saw him home, Xiao Li said a couple of things and hung up.
Mianmian looked at Qin Xiao with a smile, "Dad, your credibility with Mom is quite low now, huh!"
After saying that, she quickly slipped away!
Qin Xiao could only shake his head helplessly, then smiled as he went to change clothes and wash up.
Time flew by, and before long, Yang Wangcheng had been interning in the respiratory department for a week. In the second week, Xiao Li took him on a night shift.
When Yang Wangcheng found out he’d start the night shift, he was thrilled.
The respiratory department was his first rotation during the internship, so he hadn’t done a night shift yet. He was really eager to experience the difference between night and day shifts.
While he was excited, Yue Wenwen was not in such high spirits.
Because she still remembered what Xiao Li had said and how her first night shift in each department as an intern was an experience she had some reluctance towards.
After changing clothes, Yang Wangcheng saw Yue Wenwen with her hands clasped together and walked over to ask, "Dr. Yue, what are you doing?"
Working together for several days, their rapport had slightly improved.
Yue Wenwen said flatly, "I’m praying, praying for a smooth night!"
Yang Wangcheng was puzzled, "Is this part of the night shift ritual? Do you do this every day?"
