CHAPTER 426: CHAPTER 426: ASHLEY SHAW TAKEN AWAY BY POLICE

Ashley Shaw sensed something was off early on when the other party inquired, "Who is Ashley Shaw?"

The person who called the police was Jocelyn Hayes, not Ashley Shaw.

Furthermore, Jocelyn Hayes never mentioned her name during the call.

Now these people came straight in asking for Ashley Shaw; clearly, they weren’t here because they had called the police.

And the question "What call to the police?" further confirmed Ashley Shaw’s suspicions.

She was the first to respond, stepped forward a couple of steps, and said, "I’m Ashley Shaw. What do you want with me?"

The policemen all directed their gaze at her.

The leading officer subtly nodded, signaling the policemen behind him to step forward.

Several policemen moved forward to stand before Ashley Shaw.

"Ms. Ashley Shaw, you’re suspected of defaming others. Please cooperate with our investigation and come with us."

Although the content of their speech was polite, their tone was anything but.

Everyone in the room was shocked.

Except the girl who had broken the hairpin, she had an expression of near glee.

It turned out these policemen were here to take Ashley Shaw away, not to trouble her!

Now that Ashley Shaw was being taken away, doesn’t it mean there won’t be any trouble for her?

"Have you all made a mistake?" Ariana Grant said with a grim expression, "We are the victims. How can you say we’re defaming others? Have you gotten the facts straight?"

Ariana Grant’s mind was comparatively slow, she still hadn’t realized that the people they called and this group were not the same.

The officer, expressionless, said, "Do you know Noelle York?"

"I didn’t defame her." Her gaze was straightforward.

"Whether or not you defamed her, we need to investigate to know." The officer said and waved his hand, "Take her away!"

The corridor had already gathered a lot of people due to the police’s arrival.

Among them were parents who had come to assist their children with their luggage.

Upon seeing this scene, the parents frowned.

Clearly dissatisfied with the school’s intake.

They thought: How could the school let someone of such poor character enter?

Ashley Shaw took a deep breath, ignoring stares from others, saying, "Alright, I’ll go with you."

There is an old saying: adding insult to injury doesn’t need an excuse to be justified.

She walked straight and sat upright, not afraid of false accusations.

However, Jocelyn Hayes and Ariana Grant couldn’t bear to see Ashley Shaw just go like that and hurriedly stepped forward to block.

Jocelyn Hayes said coldly, "The matter hasn’t been clarified yet, how can you take someone away like that? You’re dressed in uniform, aren’t you afraid of causing my friend loss of reputation? What if everyone mistakenly thought she was a bad person, how would you compensate for that loss?"

Ariana Grant was more direct, "Us defaming others? I think it’s that Noelle York who’s spreading rumors? She targeted us numerous times, how did the victim suddenly become her?"

The leading officer obviously did not take any of the three seriously, impatiently saying, "We’re just following protocol. If it turns out that there’s a misunderstanding, we’ll come out to clear your name later. Do you have any other objections now?"

Jocelyn Hayes and Ariana Grant still wanted to say something, but Ashley Shaw stopped them with a look.

Staying here longer would only attract more attention.

She didn’t want to be misunderstood by the school’s students as someone who didn’t abide by the law on the first day.

Jocelyn Hayes grabbed Ashley Shaw’s hand.

"Ashley, don’t worry, I’ll speak to my mom right away and get you back home immediately."

Ashley Shaw nodded lightly and turned her gaze towards Ariana Grant.

Ariana Grant still wanted to say some comforting words, but then heard Ashley Shaw say in a voice only audible to them, "Tell Uncle Owen."

She didn’t want to bother Owen Sinclair, but this matter involved Owen as well.

If Owen Sinclair could come out to clarify, she’d likely be out soon.

Ariana Grant quickly nodded emphatically.

"Alright, enough nonsense, come with us!"

The policemen moved to grab Ashley Shaw.

Ashley Shaw took a step back, saying, "I’m not a criminal suspect. You have no right to arrest me, but I’ll cooperate."

Her meaning was clear; she would walk with them but wouldn’t be "taken away."

The leading officer frowned slightly but still said, "Then come with us!"

Once inside, whether she could leave was up to them.

Ashley Shaw quickly followed the policemen away.

The girl visibly breathed a sigh of relief, about to walk out and find her boyfriend for a solution, when Jocelyn Hayes directed her gaze at her.

"The police looking for you haven’t arrived yet, don’t be too eager to leave."

The girl sneered, "What does this have to do with you? The person involved has been taken away, what are you two making a fuss about here?"

Jocelyn Hayes expressionless.

"You can leave; however, leaving would be fleeing guilty. Fleeing guilty is an additional offense."

"You—"

The girl was red-faced with anger again.

But that "additional offense" remark indeed made her afraid to act rashly.

So she turned around and went back to her dormitory, messaging her boyfriend on her phone.

Meanwhile, Jocelyn Hayes also made a call to her mother.

The call quickly connected, and Jocelyn Hayes said, "Mom, where are you?"

On the other end, Mrs. Hayes said, "Didn’t I tell you? I’m over here thanking your dean for the other day."

"Don’t be busy with that, come back quickly; something happened on my side."

Mrs. Hayes quickly asked for details.

Jocelyn Hayes simply said, "It’s hard to explain over the phone, the police station people arrived, come over quickly; I need your help."

Upon hearing the bureau people were involved, Mrs. Hayes immediately said, "I’ll be there right away."

The dean noticed Mrs. Hayes’ expression wasn’t right, quickly asking, "Did something happen on Robin’s side?"

Mrs. Hayes, fearing Jocelyn Hayes might have gotten into trouble, just said, "It’s just kids’ matters, don’t worry about it; I’ll go check what’s going on first."

"Alright, if you need any help, just say the word." The dean said.

Mrs. Hayes nodded and hurriedly left.

The two guards following also quickly left.

The dean gently exhaled.

Finally, they left.

The family backgrounds of these freshmen were practically overwhelming him.
