CHAPTER 445: CHAPTER 445: NOT FOND

But Evelyn Vaughn was in no mood to apologize and continued loudly, "We need to order training uniforms, so everyone has to fill this out."

"Oh..." The two girls exchanged a glance, took the notebook from Evelyn Vaughn, and began writing.

Ashley Shaw didn’t feel there was anything wrong with Leo Bell adding her as a friend, nor did she notice anything unusual about Evelyn Vaughn.

She had too many things on her mind to pay attention to people who were irrelevant.

"Beep—" Her phone chimed a notification; the friend request had been accepted via QR code.

After adding each other as friends, Leo Bell said, "If the teacher gives us a specific time for the photo tomorrow, let’s meet half an hour earlier. I’ll bring the boys over, and you and Classmate Vaughn can get the girls downstairs."

Ashley nodded, "Okay."

With nothing more to say, Leo scratched his nose and left.

Lynn Redding looked at Leo and then at Ashley.

She opened her mouth to say something but ultimately swallowed her words.

With all the height and weight information registered, Evelyn Vaughn confirmed there were no omissions and took photos to extract the text.

Just before sending it to the group, she hesitated for a moment, altered someone’s weight data, then added the homeroom teacher as a friend and sent the data in a private message.

Wilson Wallace replied quickly, "Thanks for your hard work, Evelyn."

Evelyn responded, "It’s no big deal, Leo really did most of the work. I’m just assisting him."

Not a word about Ashley.

Wilson Wallace didn’t say much, just replied with an "OK" emoji.

Evelyn looked at Wilson’s reply, and for some reason, felt a bit disappointed.

Soon, footsteps could be heard outside the classroom.

The clubs were recruiting new members.

The first to arrive were the student council members.

Compared to running for class committee, a lot more people wanted to join the student council.

Especially the boys, all eagerly raising their hands.

Contrarily, Leo Bell did not raise his hand.

"Those who want to sign up, come register your information," the leading male student said, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over the back row.

When he saw Ashley Shaw, his eyes brightened slightly.

He handed over what he was doing to the person beside him, then walked over to Ashley.

Ashley was chatting with Ariana Grant about what to have for a snack tonight in their small group, and introducing Lynn Redding.

Suddenly, someone called her name.

"Ashley Shaw?"

Ashley instinctively looked up and locked eyes with the boy.

The next moment, Ashley smiled, "Tyler Joyce!"

Wasn’t he the guy who wanted to pursue Ariana?

"It really is you." Tyler laughed too and asked, "Where’s Ariana? Why don’t I see her?"

Ashley replied, "She’s not in our major, she’s in the nursing department. But you can definitely find her in the building across later."

Tyler nodded, "Do you want to join the student council? I can give you a special pass."

He openly offered Ashley an easy way in, just as the returning Evelyn Vaughn overheard.

Her expression remained unchanged, but her palms suddenly clenched.

Truth be told, Tyler was also quite handsome, and his type was very similar to Leo Bell’s.

They were both the sunny boy-next-door type.

Evelyn felt even more uncomfortable, told her desk mate she was going to the bathroom, and stepped out.

Ashley waved her hands, "Forget it. I’m the lazy type, I won’t trouble you."

"No trouble at all. Having you would be a great asset for us."

Ashley had already guessed what was going through Tyler’s mind and said, "Don’t think I can’t tell, you have other motives."

Tyler didn’t deny it and admitted openly.

"You got me."

Ashley gave a ’knew it’ look, "Pulling me in won’t help, you have to see if she wants to join. But I think she might."

—Earlier in the group chat, Ariana mentioned clubs.

She had encountered the street dance club the other day.

Moreover, she said she didn’t want to join those clubs anymore, if she joined any, it would be the student council.

That’s why Ashley said what she did.

Tyler quickly thanked her, "Thanks for the heads-up, I’ll definitely ask her later."

Tyler’s student council was the university’s council, open to all freshmen, so there was no concern about Ariana being in a different department from Ashley.

Seeing Tyler’s sincerity, Ashley decided to give him a friendly tip.

"Uh... Tyler, actually Ariana likes someone..."

Tyler wasn’t surprised, "I know."

This time, Ashley was the surprised one.

"You know?"

"Yeah, I got a feeling. But judging by her social media, there are no pictures with any guys, which means they’re probably not together yet. If they’re not together, I still have a chance, right?"

His words left Ashley speechless.

She couldn’t very well say Ariana was already dating and that her boyfriend was famous as part of The Wolves.

If she said it now, chaos would ensue in class—especially with Lynn beside her.

She didn’t want to trouble Ariana, so she let people believe Ariana hadn’t yet gotten with the person she liked.

Just then, someone onstage called Tyler to register.

Tyler acknowledged them and said to Ashley, "If we get together, I promise not to mark you absent for morning exercises."

"..." Was this a bribe?

Okay, she admitted she was tempted.

But she shouldn’t sell out Leon, right?

Ashley gave a polite smile and said nothing, and Tyler didn’t push further, turning to leave.

Jocelyn Hayes spoke up at this point, "When that student council guy walked over, I thought he liked you."

Ashley laughed it off, "You think I’m that popular?"

"With that face of yours, who wouldn’t be smitten?"

Ashley gave her a thumbs up, "Nice compliment, love hearing it, want to hear more."

Jean made a dismissive sound, thinking: Good thing he doesn’t like Ashley, or her brother would have another rival.

Poor guy, being in another school, miles away, trying to pursue someone.

Ashley asked them, "Are neither of you joining?"

Jocelyn shook her head, "No way, don’t want to join any clubs or the student council, too much hassle! I just want to have fun."

Lynn said, "Exactly! I just want to play games and chill, student council, what a hassle!"

Ashley shrugged, "Then it’s settled, our dorm has no student council connections."

Jean winked at her, "But we have Ariana’s connections!"

Ashley smiled and stayed silent.

She knew well that Ariana didn’t fancy Tyler, so if she needed help, she definitely wouldn’t seek Tyler out.

Otherwise, the debt of favors back and forth might end up costing her a good friend.
