Reborn: I Won't Chase You Anymore, School Prince
Chapter 459: Making Connections
CHAPTER 459: CHAPTER 459: MAKING CONNECTIONS
Assistant Lowell decisively pressed the dial button after finding Ashley Shaw’s number.
As expected, there was no automated voice indicating the number was invalid; instead, a normal ringing started.
On the other side of the call, Ashley Shaw was sipping a hot drink while waiting with Ariana Grant for Claire Xavier.
"Did Ms. Grant mention what held her up?"
Before they came, Claire Xavier had clearly said she was free and could come out anytime, which is why Ashley rushed over with Ariana.
Ariana Grant shrugged, "She didn’t say, but I could tell. It’s the Bond Family being unsure and wanting Ms. Grant to introduce them to the attending doctor."
Ashley Shaw exclaimed, "Huh? Does Ms. Grant know the doctors here?"
"No," Ariana Grant replied. "When I left, I overheard them saying Dr. Tate was headhunted to Concordia. They wanted Dr. Tate to make the connections."
Ashley Shaw immediately said, "Aunt Talbot is here? I should’ve made an appointment with her."
"No, I want to wait until I lose a bit more weight. Besides, Dr. Tate prescribed me a month’s worth of medication, which I still have a week’s supply of."
"Alright then, we’ll make an appointment in a week."
Ariana nodded.
She’s no longer so evasive about seeking medical advice.
It was at this moment that Ashley Shaw’s phone rang.
Seeing it was Assistant Lowell calling, she felt both expected and surprised.
She had messaged Assistant Lowell that day, but he hadn’t responded, and later Lars Prescott called her, so she assumed Assistant Lowell wouldn’t contact her.
Now he’s calling... is it because I just scolded Warren Prescott?
But Warren Prescott deserved a scolding!
He’s just a jerk who needs it.
So when she stormed off in anger that day, the first thing she did was block all of Warren Prescott’s contacts again.
She had blocked him once before, but then unblocked him when he lost contact.
Blocking him again was something she did with ease now.
But this time, it wasn’t just out of spite; she genuinely wanted to cut ties.
Someone like Warren Prescott, he’s too draining; her heart couldn’t endure a second heartbreak.
"I’m going to take a call."
Ashley Shaw picked up her phone and walked to the entrance of a 7-Eleven to answer.
Assistant Lowell started with pleasantries, then began apologizing, "I intended to reply to you immediately that day, but Mr. Prescott Jr.’s situation was really tricky and couldn’t manage without care. I got so busy I completely forgot. However, later I heard the Chairman had already spoken to you, so I didn’t follow up. Still, I thought today I’d best tell you myself."
Assistant Lowell said a lot, but Ashley Shaw only caught a few keywords: "tricky," "can’t manage without care."
She had seen Warren Prescott with her own eyes today. Besides the bandage wrapped funny around his head and being a bit thin, nothing seemed tricky.
She wasn’t sure if Warren Prescott had told Assistant Lowell about their argument, and tested, "Wasn’t it just a minor head injury? Why’s it tricky?"
Assistant Lowell exaggerated, "Oh dear, you really didn’t know, Miss Shaw? I thought the Chairman would’ve told you."
Ashley Shaw was completely confused.
"What am I supposed to know?"
Assistant Lowell danced around the issue for a while, finally getting to the point.
"Mr. Prescott Jr. did hurt his head, but what’s troublesome is the internal injury rather than the external one."
"Warren Prescott’s head has an internal injury?"
How come she couldn’t tell? Wasn’t he moving around just fine?
She’d heard about cerebral hemorrhages, which usually left people bedridden with ventilators.
Assistant Lowell clarified, "Yes, it’s an internal injury. His brain suffered a heavy blow, leading to blood clots pressing on the memory area... I saw the brain CT report, such a huge blood clot! It’s terrifying to look at!"
Assistant Lowell exaggerated the situation, making Ashley Shaw frown.
He seemed perfectly fine on the outside, but who knew the internal injury was so severe.
"Then he..."
Assistant Lowell cut her off, "But fortunately, this blood clot will absorb on its own, no need for surgery."
Ashley Shaw breathed a sigh of relief—no surgery was good.
But on second thought, why was she relieved for him?
He was already injured, and still played with her. If he healed, would he hit her outright?
What had she done so wrong to be played like this?
In all honesty, if not for her, who knows if he’d have even escaped danger!
But in the next second, Assistant Lowell said, "But unfortunately, Mr. Prescott Jr. has amnesia."
Ashley Shaw’s eyelids twitched violently, blurting out, "What did you say?"
Assistant Lowell could tell Ashley Shaw truly had no idea.
The Chairman really did keep it from her.
However, his Mr. Prescott Jr., his own heartache, even with amnesia he treated Miss Shaw differently.
What’s this? This is true love!
In such a vast city as Aethelgard, Mr. Prescott Jr. just happened to run into Miss Shaw by chance.
What’s this? This is fate!
He’s destined for marriage, so of course, he should help his boss make it happen.
Assistant Lowell composed himself, speaking more seriously, "Miss Shaw, you didn’t hear wrong, Mr. Prescott Jr. has amnesia. It’s one thing if he doesn’t remember me, but he doesn’t even remember Chairman Prescott, so we dare not inform Elder Prescott yet..."
Ashley Shaw only felt Assistant Lowell’s voice growing fainter, while Warren Prescott’s voice in her head became clearer.
The first thing he said when he saw her was: Have we ever met before?
So... he wasn’t playing with her, he had amnesia?
No wonder!
No matter how much of a jerk someone is, they should at least have basic manners.
Though Warren Prescott did lack manners, he wouldn’t go that far.
So it was amnesia, that makes sense!
The frustration in her chest dissipated like clouds; she even felt a bit embarrassed.
To the current Warren Prescott, she was indeed a stranger, yet she had scolded him so fiercely...
From a young age, Ms. Shaw taught Ashley to be polite, and she rarely lost her temper like this, making her feel a bit embarrassed.
"Ahem..."
She cleared her throat and said, "Actually, I’m at the hospital, just bumped into him ten minutes ago. I thought he was joking with me on purpose, didn’t realize he truly didn’t remember me."
Assistant Lowell quickly added, "Not just you; when Chairman Prescott arrived, Mr. Prescott Jr. didn’t remember who he was either."
Of course, this was a lie, but not quite.
Because Warren Prescott did guess Lars Prescott’s identity, but it wasn’t a memory.
With this thought, Assistant Lowell felt much more at ease.
He said, "The doctor says this kind of amnesia is temporary; once the blood clot’s fully absorbed, his memory will gradually return."
