Chapter 684: Chapter 683: Suspicious Person (Part 2)
“Back off already!”
The young man shouted low, his face a bit ferocious.
Buzz!
Suddenly, there was a whistling sound behind him, accompanied by a gust of wind.
This Easter egg was just too damn surprising. The young man was bewildered, “He dares to make a move here?!”
A strong sense of danger told him that if he didn’t dodge this punch, he would die!
If not die, at least lose a layer of skin!
But in that split second of hesitation, the perfect opportunity to dodge was gone. As ice cold bloodlust surged in the young man’s eyes and he was about to fight injury with injury, unexpectedly, all noise abruptly ceased.
“Bang!”
The sound of glass shattering.
The young man’s cheek was grazed by the flying shards of glass, drawing two streaks of blood, and he sucked in a breath, retreating a few steps before stopping.
“Sorry, I mistook you for someone else!”
A voice full of apologies.
“Mistook me for someone else?” Chen Yang’s brow twitched, and his eyes swept over to the glass bus shelter, which now sported a hole and was skewed out of shape, his heart pounding as if he was playing a survival horror game!
I mistook your mom!
He almost couldn’t help but burst out with a violent curse.
Chen Yang truly felt like an innocent victim; wasn’t he just here to gather some information? Brother, why so aggressive? How about we settle this peacefully outside?
Before he could fully recover from the shock, the irritable man wearing a mask and a knitted cap had already turned his back, shaking off his hand and walking away as if he were as carefree as the wind.
The veins on his forehead throbbed.
His fists clenched and then relaxed, Chen Yang internally tried to calm himself down: “Right, he must be a lunatic! No need to stoop to his level!”
Boom.
Just then, a few steps away, the skewed glass bus shelter finally collapsed, immediately drawing the attention and gawking of tourists.
Before long, a police car arrived. Since there were no surveillance cameras nearby, Chen Yang could only be taken to the campus police station for questioning. It took him half an hour to finally get away.
“Chen, what happened?”
A blonde, her hair fluttering, took off her sunglasses, eyeing her companion who looked as if he had been bitten by a wild dog, his expression sullen.
Companion was perhaps not as apt a term as superior.
“It’s nothing!”
Chen Yang glanced back at the receding campus police station and frowned. “Lin, I might have been exposed.”
The blonde, Lin, was quite alarmed, “Exposed?”
“Someone is targeting you?”
“Um, it’s not entirely clear which gang or power it is, but it’s most likely Lei Zhe’s people.” Chen Yang’s eyes were full of anger. “Has he really noticed our actions?”
“Then our action plan…”
“Proceed as usual!”
“Lei Zhe is probably warning me that Far Moon Campus is his territory to investigate!”
Not recognizing his assailant led Chen Yang into a erroneous train of thought.
After all, who would have thought that a high school-aged head chef could be so unruly and violent on meeting someone, swinging fists without reason. Even a Gourmet Hunter with muscles for brains wouldn’t just start fighting upon meeting someone.
Chen Yang was not willing to just leave things be. He called to his subordinate Lin, and the two headed to the Central District.
Meanwhile, Xia Yu, without removing his mask or knitted cap disguise, also arrived at the Central District.
He went straight to the group shop location of Polar Star Dormitory.
Speaking of which, the shop officially represented by Ichise Hui, the seventh seat, actually ranked in the High Platform Area when it came to tallying sales because it fell into that classification.
The shop’s location was a bit awkward, at the edge of Central District and High Platform Area, drawing in a stream of customers and setting up low tables and small cushions. The dining area was not extensive, the atmosphere quiet, and Xia Yu was quite startled by the long queue when he arrived.
The dining area resembled an outdoor camping environment.
The kitchen, however, had two large tents set up, with guests already crowding around the transparent tents, closely watching the chefs cook. Many patrons were recording with their devices.
Looking up at the wooden sign hanging from the tent’s entrance:
Polar Star Dormitory Taro Cooking Competition.
“Makki, go take a break!”
Yet the focus of the crowd and the Polar Star Dormitory group was not Ichise Hui, the seventh seat, but a young girl.
Yoshino Yuuki, seeing the girl not listening, simply snatched the spoon from her hand and raised it high, saying, “Go rest now, you’ve been busy since this morning and it’s almost noon. If you wear yourself out, Instructor Xia will…”
At this, the meatball-headed Yoshino Yuuki stuck out her tongue, “He’s definitely going to give us a hard time for not taking good care of you!”
The kitchen was short-staffed; aside from Tanaka Hikari and Xingping Chuangzhen, all the other members of Polar Star Dormitory were there, but most of them were busy carrying plates and wiping tables. The main cooks were essentially Ichise Hui and Sen Tian Makoto.
“Leave this to me!”
Ichise Hui gave a thumbs-up to the girl, “You did great!”
“But there are still so many customers waiting…” Sen Tian Makoto bit her lip, looking around at the crowd surrounding the tent, then turned her head to see those by the water enjoying their meal with satisfied smiles, “I think I should keep going for a while!”
No sooner had she spoken, than someone patted her on the shoulder.
She turned her head in confusion and was met with a proudly raised thumb.
“Awesome!”
Upon hearing the familiar voice and the simple, clean word of praise, her pretty, slightly sweaty face instantly burst into a surprised smile.
Ichise Hui and Yoshino Yuuki, upon seeing this familiar person who had barged in unexpectedly, gasped.
“Instructor Xia, you…”
“Shh!”
With a shushing gesture, Xia Yu stepped forward and easily edged Sen Tian Makoto aside, “Let me do it!”
“Huh?”
Their brains froze.
“Huh, what? The taro cooking competition? Seems like it’s a hotpot dish that’s popular in Neon Northeast and the Kantou Region,” said Xia Yu, nodding at Ichise Hui, “You start first, and I’ll watch how you do it.”
Ichise Hui broke out in a sweat, “Are you serious, Instructor Xia?”
“Nonsense!”
His gaze flickered for a moment, looking left and right, especially when he noticed the waiting customers outside the tent. They were staring with a homicidal frustration at the guy who had just pushed their goddess of a chef out of the way, and Ichise Hui almost chuckled to himself.
It seems no one recognized this Instructor Xia.
Indeed.
Observing his mask and knitted cap, Xia Yu had even wrapped his coat around his arm; Ichise Hui’s mouth twitched, “Is it necessary to go undercover to such an extent?”
Then, a group of very unfriendly male and female customers couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Who the hell is this guy?”
“Get lost!”
“Student Ichise, you really need to explain this to us! Do you see the gourmet coupon in my hand? I’m only eating food cooked by you or Mr. Sen Tian, otherwise, we won’t pay with our coupons, and we’ll even complain to the festival committee!”
The angry, hostile words disrupted the peaceful atmosphere of the Polar Star Dormitory Camp Restaurant.
Ichise Hui frowned instantly.
Makki opened her mouth, “I’ll do it then!”
She gave Xia Yu an apologetic look, but her expression was off, as if… she was trying not to laugh?
Yoshino Yuuki simply turned her back and stifled a chuckle, her shoulders shaking.
These unsuspecting customers were endearingly clueless.
Xia Yu, however, found the situation quite embarrassing.
Looking at those customers waving their gourmet coupons with lousy attitudes, he really wanted to say—hey hey hey, it would take a box full of these tokens to get a dish personally cooked by me, and mind you, it’s only one serving!
Ahem!
With the customers unhappy, Xia Yu could only shrug and prepare to step back, “Then you’ll just have to wait for the afternoon slot, as we’re almost done for the morning.”
Little did he expect, as soon as he began to move, a system task popped up in his field of view:
“‘Hospitality of the Ten Pot Flip with Silver Chopsticks’.”
“Instructions: Please use the new cooking skill ‘Silver Chopsticks Ten Pot Flip’ to prepare the taro dish and serve 200 customers in half an hour.”
“Reward: 5 Talent Points.”
Damn!
Nearly slipping and falling, Xia Yu complained to the system, “Why now of all times!”
“Please strive to complete the task.”
“Serving 200 customers in half an hour? 5 Talent Points is just barely acceptable.”
He was still grumbling.
“Please complete the task promptly; 59 minutes and 50 seconds remain.”
“Wow, you’re really forcing me to cook personally!”
“Please…”
“Can you not spam?”
