Chapter 154 - 153: Sending Gifts
CHAPTER 154: CHAPTER 153: SENDING GIFTS
When buying a watch for Zhang Shuhua, Lin Wan was taken by a men’s watch from Hengdali. She wanted to buy Han Yi a watch too; it was quite nice, but a bit expensive, costing a hundred and fifty. Since she was there, Lin Wan, with a bit of determination, went ahead and bought it, picking one for herself as well.
When sending Zhang Shuhua to the station, Lin Wan gave the watch to Zhang Shuhua.
"Xiao Wan, this is too valuable; I can’t accept it." She recognized the watch, a Plum Blossom brand, worth several dozen. Almost enough to buy a sewing machine.
Lately, with her external dining work, she had earned several hundred, and if it weren’t for Lin Wan, she wouldn’t have been so fortunate.
"Consider me a friend and don’t refuse; having a watch is convenient everywhere. If you think it’s too expensive, you can give me a gift when you have money in the future. Hurry on, the train is about to leave." Lin Wan knew she would react this way, so she placed the watch in her bag and pushed her onto the train.
"Xiao Wan, thank you. I’ll write you when I arrive."
"Okay, take care on the road."
After seeing off Zhang Shuhua, Lin Wan rode her bike to a major road in the suburbs, which was a route one had to take from the city to the military district. Lin Wan found some shade under a tree, waiting for quite a while until a military vehicle passed by, likely a car from the cooking class out shopping.
Lin Wan hurriedly approached and waved to stop it. "Hello, are you from military district 68321?"
The soldier driving cautiously looked at Lin Wan. "What do you need?"
"Hello, I’m Han Yi’s spouse from the group army, and I’m hoping to send him some things." Lin Wan felt ashamed; until now she didn’t even know which battalion Han Yi belonged to.
The soldier driving furrowed his brows, a bit slow to understand, clearly not recognizing Han Yi. However, the soldier beside him made a sound of realization, "Is it Captain Han you’re referring to?" The famous ’God of Guns’ of the reconnaissance corps, the sniper team leader. They were from the fifth battalion, not too familiar, unsure if this was the captain she mentioned.
Lin Wan didn’t know if the Captain Han they were talking about was Han Yi, nor did she know he was a sniper.
Thinking back, she felt she had been truly neglectful in her past life; married for two years and she barely knew him.
"Miss, are you talking about Han Yi, Captain Han? My husband knows him," Lin Wan then noticed there were several military wives sitting at the back of the vehicle.
They must have come out to shop with the military truck.
Lin Wan quickly nodded and smiled, "Yes, does Sister-in-law know him?"
The woman laughed heartily, "Heard my husband mention Captain Han got married recently; didn’t expect he married such a pretty girl. If Han Yi’s wife needs to send anything to Captain Han, I can help you deliver it."
"Sister-in-law, you can call me Lin Wan or Xiao Wan, family wanted to send him some treats for the festival. Sorry for the trouble, Sister-in-law." Lin Wan handed a net bag to the Sister-in-law, then gave the two other packages of snacks, one to the two soldiers at the front, and one to the other military wives, "Homemade snacks for you all to try on the way."
"Thank you, Sister-in-law," the two soldiers shyly saluted Lin Wan. The culinary soldiers certainly had the good fortune of eating well.
"No need to be polite, Han Yi’s wife. My husband’s surname is Huang, mine is Zhang. You can call me Sister-in-law Zhang in the future. Rest assured, I’ll definitely deliver the items to your Han Yi. Whenever you visit the military district, have Han Yi bring you to my home for a visit."
"Thank you, Sister-in-law Zhang. I’ll definitely visit when the time comes."
Lin Wan did want to visit him, having been married just over a month. But rushing there now was bound to invite some teasing from others. Although it wasn’t far, Lin Wan patiently held back from going.
