CHAPTER 167: CHAPTER 166: THE CLAY POT RESTAURANT IS REPOSSESSED
Liang Hongmei pondered for a moment and felt her daughter was right. "Alright, you don’t have to worry about this matter anymore; Mom will talk to them."
Lin Wan nodded. She knew that since her mom came to the city, she had to keep up with the times and was no longer the illiterate village woman who could be bullied everywhere.
Although Lin Wan said she wouldn’t worry, she was still concerned that her mom might suffer losses. Taking advantage of her brother’s day off, she mentioned it to him, asking him to check on their mom’s situation.
Who knew, the next day, Liang Hongmei came to the shop.
Seeing Liang Hongmei relaxed, Lin Wan felt relieved.
"Mom, how did it go over there?" Lin Wan eagerly pulled Liang Hongmei into a private room and asked.
"I settled it the day after you mentioned it. They just gave fifty less. I didn’t mind; because of that, I took back a few pots and pans. We didn’t suffer any loss, paid up Grandma Wang, and I stayed at the shop for two days, teaching them. Now, your mom is free. I spent an entire afternoon at home yesterday and was bored to death."
"If Mom’s got nothing to do, why not let Brother find you a tutor class for a year or so and get a diploma? I heard from my school that the neighboring school has an adult class. It’s a one-year course, and you can get a secondary school diploma when you graduate."
Liang Hongmei waved her hand, "No, no, I’m too old for that. Just learn some knowledge at home to not be illiterate, and that’s enough."
"So what if you’re old? At our school, there are even pregnant women taking classes; it’s quite normal."
Lin Wan persuaded her mom for a while. Seeing her mom unmoved, she went downstairs to discuss with her brother. When she was in class, a classmate had mentioned that the night university at the neighboring school had a short semester, and you could also attend classes during the day. Morning classes last half a day, and evening classes are only two hours, with flexible scheduling. The downside is that the diploma is somewhat low and may not be recognized by higher authorities.
Basically, it’s for those who are idle at home and want to get a diploma, any diploma will do, and to be honest, quite a number of people are interested in it.
Lin Wan paid attention and thought her mom could attend. No matter her mom’s age, any diploma is better than none.
"Mom’s current self-learned knowledge is equivalent to junior high level, so why not? Tomorrow, I’ll go check it out, and if feasible, I’ll pay the tuition on the spot. We now have the brewery and this restaurant, so there’s no worry about money."
"I think it’s a good idea. Mom’s just sitting idle at home; might as well get it done first and tell her later. Once the money’s spent and can’t be refunded, Mom will worry about the money and have to go." The siblings secretly hatched their plan. Unaware, Liang Hongmei went to the kitchen to help out.
The next day, Lin Yinghui first went to the brewery to take a look and then to the school Lin Wan mentioned in the afternoon.
Lin Wan wasn’t wrong—this was a secondary vocational school. After the reintroduction of entrance exams, they followed the trend and started a night university this year for the first time. To attract students, they allowed day classes based on individual schedules.
The graduation certificate was issued by their school.
The one-year course cost 280 in tuition and 20 for books. The tuition was high mainly because the summer recruitment period had passed, but there were still many applicants, and they didn’t want to lose students. Hence, they opened another class for new students to start from scratch.
With the teacher’s guidance, Lin Yinghui looked around and found students of all ages in the class, including a few around his mom’s age.
He found out the accounting class just started with a small group of seven or eight people, and the afternoon schedule suited his mom well. Lin Yinghui went ahead and enrolled his mom.
After reaching the restaurant, Lin Yinghui took the mother and daughter to a private room and put the acceptance letter on the table.
Seeing it clearly, Liang Hongmei immediately frowned, "You two are really messing around."
