Chapter 263 - 262: New Environment
CHAPTER 263: CHAPTER 262: NEW ENVIRONMENT
Mom has lived in a chaotic courtyard for more than ten years, and the hygiene at home has never been good. When she saw Lin Wan’s tidy kitchen, she was envious. Aunt Jin was even more so.
The two of them loved taking over the kitchen, almost driving her and Lijuan out.
At noon, everyone didn’t mind the heat and made a big pot of stew, steamed half a pot of rice, and mixed four cold dishes. Lin Wan took out a few bottles of wine, and several people sat in the living room, with the fan spinning, eating for over an hour.
Especially Hu Dong, Lin Wan roughly estimated that this kid’s appetite was equivalent to three of her meals; truly, it’s not easy to feed an adolescent boy.
After eating, when it was time to leave, Lin Wan didn’t follow them back. "Mom, please tell Grandma that I’ll visit her in a couple of days."
"Got it, remember to lock the door at night when you’re living alone."
"Mm, I know. If anything happens over there, remember to let Lijuan inform me... Lijuan, don’t forget."
"Got it, Saozi, I will." After spending a few days together, Hu Lijuan and Hu Dong had started trusting this half-sister of theirs; she’s their family.
Lin Wan always sends them out of the alley before heading back. When she got home, her brother was already tidying up the dining table.
Seeing this, Lin Wan giggled and teased, "Bro, whoever marries you is really hitting the jackpot. You’re totally the model husband who can both entertain guests and cook."
"Stop being cheeky, where did you learn those words?" Lin Yinghui fondly rolled his eyes at her. "It’s the basic life skills for our family’s men. Can Han Yi do it? If not, I’ll teach him well when he comes back. My sister isn’t marrying him just to serve him."
"Bro, that might be unlikely. Han Yi cooks much better than you do."
Lin Yinghui froze for a moment, seemingly thinking of something, then said, "When he comes back, I’ll have to let him show off a bit."
"Bro, I’m already married, and probably about to have kids. What about you, do you have anyone you like?... Hmm, I remember you had a female classmate with a name starting with ’Mu’. She’s quite pretty."
"Your brother is still studying, right now, studies are the most important; why rush?"
"What’s wrong with studying? If you meet someone suitable, you can start dating while in school and marry after graduation; it’s not delaying anything... Oh, I forgot, I still have to go to the winery this afternoon. You handle the cleaning, and remember to lock the door at night."
Before Lin Wan could finish, Lin Yinghui interrupted her, quickly washed his hands by the sink, and left while talking.
"Hey, bro, it’s the middle of the day, take a nap before you go."
"Nah, I’m leaving."
Watching her brother flee, Lin Wan pouted; she just mentioned it casually, why such a big reaction? Previously, when mentioning these things, he never seemed like this.
A sudden flash of insight crossed Lin Wan’s mind, raising her eyebrows as she thought secretly, "Could it be that my brother is in love?"
The more Lin Wan thought about it, the more it made sense.
Living alone in such a large courtyard, after a moment of excitement, Lin Wan found it too empty.
At night, she tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. First, it was a new environment; second, there were too many mosquitoes biting her, preventing her from sleeping. When moving, Lin Wan didn’t take down the mosquito net on the bed, leaving it for them to use.
Lin Wan only fell asleep when it was almost dawn and woke up a little past one in the afternoon. She got up and made a simple meal for herself. With her appetite, making a little isn’t cost-effective, making too much can’t be finished; it would be great to have a dog at home that could take care of the leftovers.
The advantage of living alone is freedom; you can get up whenever you want and eat whenever you like.
This kind of life is quite nice too, with her husband working outside, she can have money to spend even if she’s not working at home. If only there were a child, it would be perfect.
