CHAPTER 275: CHAPTER 274: ENCOUNTERING A THIEF
While packing clothes, a shadow suddenly darted out from the side. The person swiftly bent down, grabbed several pieces of clothing from her stall, and ran away.
Hu Lijuan was startled and screamed, while Hu Dong quickly chased after him.
"Lijuan, pack up quickly," Lin Wan instructed from her side, and hurriedly chased after Hu Dong. "Xiao Dung, stop chasing, come back quickly," but the kid ran fast. She simply couldn’t catch up.
"Xiao Dung, come back quickly," Lin Wan shouted while chasing in Hu Dong’s direction.
About two street corners away, Lin Wan found Hu Dong in a dead-end alley.
That guy was fighting with the thief for the clothes.
Lin Wan, with quick reflexes, grabbed a nearby wooden stick and ran over. The thief must have been a newbie, upon seeing Lin Wan angrily approaching with the stick, he let go quickly and sprinted off.
Seeing Hu Dong wanted to continue chasing, Lin Wan quickly stopped him, "Don’t chase, let’s go back."
Lin Wan picked up the clothes from the ground and pulled Hu Dong back to meet with Hu Lijuan.
"Saozi, why did you stop me? He couldn’t beat me. Just watch me catch him and give him a beating."
"How old are you to dare fight a thief alone? Luckily today’s thief wasn’t an habitual offender or part of a gang, otherwise you’d not have gotten out of that alley today."
"Even a habitual offender wouldn’t scare me."
"These people are reckless; if it were a habitual offender, he would surely carry weapons or act with a gang. While you chase him, someone might target Lijuan behind us and snatch our goods, believe it or not?" In her past life, she knew too well such tactics, and had encountered them.
"Really?" Lin Wan’s words made Hu Dong uneasy. Without needing Lin Wan to pull him, he quickly ran back to their stall.
When the two saw Hu Lijuan had packed all the clothes and was anxiously waiting for them, they finally felt relieved.
"How’s it going, did you catch the thief?"
"No, but we got the clothes back. Alright, let’s go."
"Hmm, we won’t come here this afternoon; let’s go somewhere else. Mom said in the morning not to go to crowded places. I forgot about that." Hu Lijuan walked behind them, rubbing their clothes, still anxious.
"This afternoon, we’ll go to the neighborhood; during this period, we won’t go to the train station." She had neglected to think it through, bringing two kids here certainly frightened them.
On the way back, Lin Wan still shared with them some knowledge about the scams of thieves and swindlers she learned from the future, to increase their awareness and prevent getting scammed later. Especially for Lijuan, who will be studying out of town and frequently traveling through stations.
These days, whether bus stations or train stations, people traffickers are numerous.
On this trip, the siblings gained quite a bit of knowledge and grew to admire their Saozi even more.
They felt their Saozi knew even more than their parents.
Also, when selling clothes today, it turns out clothes can be promoted and sold like this, instead of setting up a counter in a mall waiting for customers.
They witnessed a good amount of sales today.
As they passed by the vegetable market, Lin Wan bought a pound of meat and half a chicken to take home.
At noon, she let the two help her with the accounts in the living room, while she prepared lunch.
Lin Wan made steamed rice, stir-fried shredded pork with beans, and potato-stewed chicken.
The weather was too hot, so after coming out of the kitchen, Lin Wan didn’t feel like eating and went to the bathroom for a shower first.
Returning to the living room, she saw the two excitedly pulling her hand, saying, "Saozi, we made quite a bit today. We sold over twenty pieces of clothing, totaling two hundred and eight yuan."
"Hmm, not bad, thanks to you both today. Let’s eat first, then rest well after the meal. We’ll set up the stall again around four or five in the afternoon," Lin Wan took the money and urged them to sit down and have lunch.
