CHAPTER 302: CHAPTER 301: CHANGES IN MOTHER-IN-LAW’S HOME
Lin Yinghui took advantage of being home after school for a bit, and would head back soon for evening classes. He ate a steamed bun in the kitchen and left.
Mom was still at the shop and hadn’t come back yet, Lin Wan pushed her bicycle home, and then went straight to school.
Yin Peibai and Su Ling had already started buying clothes from family and friends these past two days. The styles hadn’t come out yet, but the two of them already had orders.
"A set for an older child and two sets for adults."
Lin Wan set the price at two yuan per piece of clothing. Three yuan fifty per set. Three yuan per set for kids.
Pajama sets were ten yuan. Not sold separately for men and women.
Lin Wan hadn’t even started tailoring yet, and those two couldn’t wait any longer.
Since she didn’t know the exact location of their home, Lin Wan didn’t go the next day. Being too eager might be awkward, what if they didn’t like it but felt obliged because of her as the middleman. That wouldn’t be too pleasant.
In the past two days, Lin Wan hadn’t done much cutting. About a dozen pieces. She cut in the morning and sewed in the afternoon.
Over two days, they only made over twenty pieces.
When Yin Peibai and Su Ling saw the pajamas Lin Wan brought back, they both liked them so much, each wanted two sets.
Lin Wan said she would offer them at cost, six yuan per set.
On Thursday, the mother-in-law brought a bunch of yams, "A colleague from my unit brought these from home, gave me some, I heard these are very nutritious, so I brought some for you. Is everything alright with you?"
"Very good." Lin Wan quickly helped her pour some water.
"Don’t bother, I’ll sit for a moment and then leave. About helping Xiao Dung, your Uncle Hu and I know it. Thank you, Xiao Wan."
"Mom, it’s nothing, I just saw that kid going out to move bricks for others every day, it’s too tiring. And he doesn’t make much money, so I thought of this way."
"No matter how you put it, I still have to thank you, the household is more relaxed now, your Uncle Hu and I have always said, you haven’t been to our place yet, come over when you have the time."
"Mom, in a few days, I’m a bit busy right now," she feared Han Yi would be upset if she went, best to wait until Han Yi came back to talk about it.
Shen Qing knew she was reluctant, but didn’t force her, casually noticing the fabric scraps around the room, "You’ve started making clothes again."
"Yeah, making some autumn clothes."
"Really." Shen Qing got up and looked at the pile of fabric on the bed with some concern, "So many, can you sell them all?"
"There shouldn’t be any problem." Lin Wan wasn’t too sure as she hadn’t started yet.
"We have many female coworkers at my unit, I’ll ask around for you tomorrow."
"I’d appreciate that, Mom... oh right, last week Xiao Dung asked me to help check a bicycle for him, it’s in the yard, see if it’s okay, if not, I can return it for him."
"Really, I’ll have a look," the family buying a bicycle was also for Hu Bin, being a department head now, and still without a bicycle made things inconvenient, plus the family really needed one. Xiao Dung could also ride to the cinema on Sundays. Luckily, they had a bit more money lately. Xiao Dung selling popcorn for two days made nearly as much as her monthly salary.
Shen Qing looked at the almost-new bicycle in the courtyard, pushed it out and rode around, found it very smooth.
"How much was this?"
"They said 80."
"80, quite cheap," she had inquired about it these days, a new one in the mall would be around 150, a coworker bought a second-hand one last month that wasn’t as new as this one, still cost 100. "Xiao Wan, they didn’t lose out, right? I checked the prices, this one could easily be 100."
