Reborn in the 80s: She Rewrites Life with Radiance
Chapter 141: Going on a Mission
CHAPTER 141: CHAPTER 141: GOING ON A MISSION
After Gu Yi went back, she went straight to Jingying Second Store.
Li Yitian was also inside.
"Aren’t you supposed to be at school today? How come you have time to come here?"
Li Yitian was a bit puzzled to see her.
"I just needed to register today, classes are in the evening. Do you have time now? Let’s go out and talk about something."
"Sure, let’s go."
The two of them found a bench in a nearby small square and sat down.
"The other day I mentioned the land purchase, have you thought it over?"
Gu Yi got straight to the point with Li Yitian.
"I think we can do it, but I don’t have that much money on hand right now. Have you asked the bank like we talked about?"
Li Yitian went back and thought carefully about what Gu Yi had said. He felt it could work, but he just couldn’t come up with that much money in one go.
"I did, but it’s not going through with the bank. I found a friend who’s willing to partner with us."
"A friend? Liang Yesheng?"
Li Yitian guessed right away, but if Liang Yesheng was willing to get involved, then it surely wouldn’t go wrong.
"Yes, it’s him. Among my friends here, he’s the only one with this capability."
"It’s even better with him on board. But I can only gather a little over a million right now."
Li Yitian clarified his situation with Gu Yi.
"So the two of us together have around two million. We can divvy up the shares based on our investment. How does that sound?"
"Sounds good."
But when Gu Yi said that, Li Yitian was surprised.
He had been in the clothing business for a long time, so he had some savings.
But Gu Yi’s words implied she also had about a million in funds.
Originally he thought Gu Yi might have some money, but he didn’t expect this much.
However, he didn’t show it. He just thought maybe following Gu Yi would lead to earning much more than now.
"Do you have any friends who can help us find out what the government’s current thoughts are?"
Gu Yi thought since Li Yitian was the one who initially mentioned this, she’d ask if he knows anyone familiar with this area.
"Yes, the person who told me about this last time works in the city’s land department and is in charge of this area."
Li Yitian felt there shouldn’t be any issue asking his friend.
"Do you have a way to negotiate a bit on the price?"
Gu Yi knew that in her previous life, the final deal for this land was a little over four million.
And she also knew that Li Yitian’s family had some influence in B City, so she wanted to take advantage of it.
"I’ll need to ask before I can tell you."
Li Yitian didn’t agree immediately, afraid that in case it didn’t work out, Gu Yi and the others would be disappointed for nothing.
"Alright, but how about we arrange to meet Brother Liang for dinner sometime, so you can get to know each other."
Gu Yi thought since the three of them would be working together, it was good for them to meet.
It’s better to gather and discuss the partnership in detail.
"Sure, anytime works for me. Just let me know when you set a time."
Li Yitian was also eager to meet Liang Yesheng.
Because Liang Yesheng was quite low-key, everything Li Yitian knew was from others.
"Alright, I’ll call you when it’s set. Shall we head back to the store?"
Gu Yi said as she stood up first.
Li Yitian also stood up and followed Gu Yi back to the store.
"I forgot to ask, how’s the atmosphere in the store now?"
Gu Yi remembered that before she left, she’d made a series of changes to the store’s rules to address the unhealthy competition among employees.
Before she went home, there was some improvement in the store, but she hadn’t asked since she got back.
She wasn’t sure if those changes still had an effect now.
"It’s pretty good. Everyone gets along well now. Your changes to the system have been quite effective, and Xiao Yang has started playing her role as the manager."
Speaking of this, Li Yitian felt he had a lot to learn from Gu Yi.
He was aware of the store’s previous situation, but he didn’t know where to start to fix it.
"That’s good. If they get along well, the store atmosphere will be good, and customers will feel better when they come in. This naturally boosts the transaction rate."
The two of them stopped talking about the topic as they approached the store entrance.
Gu Yi stayed in the store until four in the afternoon before heading home.
She made some food and cleaned up after eating.
She left the house at 5:40.
After standing at the community gate for a while, she saw Wang Yuan running over from a distance.
"Slow down, don’t fall."
As Wang Yuan got closer, Gu Yi called out.
"I won’t. Besides, even if I fall, I’m wearing so much it won’t hurt. Sister Yi Yi, when did you come back?"
Wang Yuan quickly ran up to Gu Yi.
"I just got back yesterday, had some things to take care of so I didn’t go looking for you."
Gu Yi explained with a smile.
"No wonder. My mom told me at lunch that you’d be waiting for me here in the evening. I finished eating and ran out immediately."
Wang Yuan linked her arm with Gu Yi’s and they walked towards the school.
Soon it was Saturday, and Gu Yi went to the hospital early in the morning.
She had finished her medications from last year and was there to consult the doctor for more.
"Your symptoms have started to improve. I’ll prescribe you a little more medicine and swap out two of the ingredients. This will be more effective."
The doctor said after checking Gu Yi’s pulse.
"Okay, doctor. I want to ask, with my condition, when can we try for a baby?"
Gu Yi was most concerned about this.
"You’ll need to take the medicine for three months. One month after stopping, you can start trying. But don’t rush it, everything is better when it happens naturally."
"Alright, thank you, doctor."
Gu Yi felt assured after hearing the doctor’s words.
She took the medicine home, prepared it, and drank a bowl.
She also filled up a cup and took it with her.
First, she stopped by Jingying Second Store and then went to the station to take a bus back to the barracks.
She had just gotten home and was about to start preparing lunch.
Ye Hao came back.
"Why are you back so early today?"
Gu Yi looked at the time; it was only eleven o’clock. Ye Hao usually didn’t come back until twelve.
"There’s a mission this afternoon. I came back to pack some things."
Ye Hao said as he walked over and hugged Gu Yi.
"A mission? Is it dangerous?"
Gu Yi felt particularly anxious for some reason when she heard Ye Hao say this.
"I don’t know yet. We’ll find out once we get there."
Ye Hao said while holding Gu Yi, closing his eyes momentarily.
"Please, be sure to stay safe. I’ll be waiting for you at home."
Gu Yi held Ye Hao tightly.
"I will, I promise. I’m a bit hungry. Could you make something to eat?"
Ye Hao smiled as he spoke, feeling like he was acting spoiled.
"Sure, what time are you leaving this afternoon?"
"We assemble at two."
"Then rest for a bit. I’ll get something ready."
Gu Yi said, as she hurried into the kitchen to start cooking.
