Reborn in the 80s: She Rewrites Life with Radiance
Chapter 151: Ye’s Mother’s Decision
CHAPTER 151: CHAPTER 151: YE’S MOTHER’S DECISION
Gu Yi woke up especially early the next day.
She came out of her room.
Ye’s mother also came out of her room.
"Mom, morning, why not sleep a bit more?"
Gu Yi greeted Ye’s mother with a smile.
"As you get older, you sleep less, why are you up so early?"
Ye’s mother was curious because Gu Yi returned home late last night, and it was still early before she had to go to school.
"Ye Hao is coming over today, I wanted to go to the market to buy some groceries first."
Gu Yi explained with a smile.
"Then I’ll go with you, I want to have a look around too."
"Okay, let me wash up first."
Gu Yi said as she went into the bathroom.
She quickly got ready and let Ye’s mother go in.
Then she went to the kitchen to bring the medicine to a boil, then simmer it on low heat.
Once Ye’s mother came out, she could smell the strong scent of Chinese medicine at home.
"Yiyi, what are you cooking?"
Ye’s mother followed the scent into the kitchen.
"Mom, are you done? It’s Chinese medicine for health conditioning."
Seeing Ye’s mother asking, Gu Yi decided not to hide it from her.
Besides, even if Gu Yi wanted to hide it, she couldn’t, as they would be living here for a while and it would eventually be discovered.
Gu Yi’s medicine needed to be taken as a treatment course, and she had already stopped for a few days during the New Year.
Gu Yi also wanted to quickly condition her body to start preparing for pregnancy.
So Gu Yi didn’t want to stop again for a while.
"Is something wrong with your body? Are you feeling unwell?"
Ye’s mother looked at Gu Yi’s complexion, which didn’t show any signs of illness.
"No, it’s because Ye Hao and I plan to have a baby. We went to the hospital last time, and the doctor said my body is weak, so he prescribed me some Chinese medicine to help with conditioning and ensure the baby will be healthier."
Gu Yi didn’t directly mention her cold constitution to Ye’s mother as she was almost done with the conditioning.
If she mentioned it, Ye’s mother might also become worried.
"Oh, then it does need conditioning."
Although Ye’s mother didn’t understand why one needed conditioning before pregnancy, the doctor had a reason, and having a healthier child would mean fewer illnesses, making it easier to care for.
"Mom, let’s hurry to the market."
Gu Yi looked at the time and said to Ye’s mother.
"Alright, let’s go now."
Ye’s mother knew Gu Yi still had to attend class, so they needed to hurry.
Since they needed to buy groceries for both lunch and dinner, Gu Yi bought quite a lot.
They carried full baskets of groceries back home.
After bringing the groceries home, Gu Yi went out to buy some breakfast.
When Gu Yi finished breakfast and got ready, it was time for her to go to school.
After Gu Yi left, only then did Ye Qian get up.
"Mom, what’s that smell in the house?"
As soon as she left her room, she smelled a strong scent of Chinese medicine.
"It’s your sister-in-law’s medicine."
Ye’s mother came out of the kitchen and said to Ye Qian.
"Is my sister-in-law feeling unwell?"
"No, it’s just some health conditioning medicine."
"To give you a grandchild, right."
Ye Qian smiled once she heard it was for conditioning.
"If your brother and sister-in-law would give me a chubby grandson soon, I wouldn’t fuss with you, and my task would only be to wholeheartedly care for my grandson."
Thinking about that scene, Ye’s mother couldn’t help but smile.
"Then you need to take good care of my sister-in-law during this time, she looks thinner than before."
Ye Qian said as she went to the bathroom to freshen up.
But her words made Ye’s mother think seriously.
She thought that a woman shouldn’t be too fat or too thin to get pregnant.
Since Gu Yi was here alone, going to school and managing other tasks, she must have little time to care for herself.
Fortunately, Ye’s mother was staying here for a while and could take good care of Gu Yi.
She decided to act right away and went out to the market again.
"Dad, where’s Mom?"
Ye Qian asked as she saw Ye Fu sitting at the table after coming out of the bathroom.
"I don’t know either, I just got up and haven’t seen her, she might have gone downstairs for a walk."
Ye Qian recalled the sound of the door closing while she was in the bathroom.
At noon, when Gu Yi got home, the food was already prepared on the dining table.
"Yiyi, class is over, you’re hungry, right? Come and eat."
As soon as Ye’s mother heard the door open, she came out of the kitchen smiling at Gu Yi.
Ye Fu followed Ye’s mother, carrying bowls and chopsticks.
"Come eat, after you can take a rest, Qianqian, come eat."
Ye Fu called out to Ye Qian’s room.
Ye Qian responded and came out shortly.
"Sister-in-law, are you back? With no work to do, I just stayed in the room to sleep."
Ye Qian said a bit embarrassedly to Gu Yi.
"It’s fine, more rest is good. You were busy before, now you can catch up on those missed sleeps."
Gu Yi smiled and said.
She genuinely didn’t mind, as if she had nothing to do, she would also prefer to lie down.
"Here, have a bowl of soup first."
Once seated, Ye’s mother handed a bowl of soup to Gu Yi.
"Mom, this is chicken soup; we didn’t buy chicken in the morning, did we?"
Gu Yi looked at the chicken soup, quite surprised.
"I went to buy it later. Ye Hao just finished a mission, and you’ve been busy all day. It’s to nourish you both, drink up quickly."
Ye’s mother mentioned Ye Hao to prevent Gu Yi from overthinking.
"Thank you, Mom, it tastes really good."
Gu Yi took a sip and complimented Ye’s mother.
"No need for thanks, if it’s good, drink more. I bought two chickens today; when Ye Hao was home, he could eat a whole chicken in one meal, Qianqian, here."
Ye’s mother served a bowl for Ye Qian as well.
She recalled when they were poor, and Ye Hao and Ye Qian didn’t get enough nutrition.
So she raised more chickens to occasionally nourish them.
Though Ye Hao was young, his appetite was big.
Those were tough times, but they were past now.
Now, their life was getting better and better.
"When is Hao Hao coming over?"
Ye Fu, sitting on one side, asked.
"He didn’t say the exact time, but he should be here around two."
Gu Yi calculated the time and predicted Ye Hao would come after lunch.
"Then I’ll keep the soup warm, and when Hao Hao arrives, he can drink it hot."
Ye’s mother was pleased, knowing she’d see Ye Hao soon.
After eating, Gu Yi and Ye Qian helped Ye’s mother clean up the dishes.
Gu Yi planned to prepare the dishes for dinner.
Just as she was about to start washing, Ye’s mother stopped her.
"You woke up so early, and you still have class in the afternoon, go rest. I will wash the vegetables before cooking; washing too early makes them wilt. I can ask Qianqian to help later."
"Sister-in-law, you should rest. I’ll help Mom later."
Ye Qian also chimed in.
"Alright, then I’ll shamelessly enjoy the ready-made food, thanks to Mom and Qianqian."
Gu Yi thought since Ye’s mother had Ye Qian to help, it wouldn’t be too tiring.
She got up early and ate a lot at lunch, making her genuinely sleepy.
"Wipe your hands and go take a nap."
Ye’s mother handed her a dry towel.
