Chapter 49: Got the Marriage Certificate
CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER 49: GOT THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
Gu Yi glared at Ye Hao.
Ye Hao didn’t mind, and he grinned back at her.
"Are you sober now?"
Gu Yi was actually a bit worried that Ye Hao had drunk too much at noon.
"Yeah, I’m fine now. I just slept off the alcohol."
When Ye Hao mentioned this, he recalled waking up with Gu Yi sleeping in his arms.
If it weren’t for Ye Qian calling her to the store, he wouldn’t have wanted to leave the room.
He was quite looking forward to seeing how Gu Yi would react after waking up.
"Were there many customers today?"
Gu Yi quickly found a topic to talk about when she saw Ye Hao’s expression.
"Not too bad, the three of us managed."
"Dad, mom made dinner at home. Once it’s less busy, let’s go back and eat."
Gu Yi spoke directly toward the kitchen.
After that, she went to help clean the tables.
Soon, no more customers were coming into the store.
"Let’s tidy things up and head home to eat."
Gu Yi suggested going home when she saw Ye Fu still seemed a bit tipsy and low-spirited.
Ye Qian and Ye Fu left first, leaving Gu Yi and Ye Hao to close up.
"How many days off do you have this time?"
"Ten days, I can stay at home for six more days."
"When you go to military school, will you still get any breaks to come home?"
In a previous life, Ye Hao never returned during his time in military school; he only came back after graduation.
"In the first year, there probably won’t be long breaks, but there should be one or two days off in between."
Ye Hao heard this from Li Yifan, who said they give a family visit leave before enrollment because they couldn’t come back midway.
"By the way, when I got back, Li Yitian came to find me and asked when you’d be free to help him again."
Ye Hao looked at Gu Yi expectantly, hoping to meet if she went.
"Let’s see in a while. When I have winter break and it’s not busy here, I’ll come to see you and also visit him."
Ye Hao was overjoyed to hear that Gu Yi planned to visit him too.
This meant she saw him as a priority.
They chatted all the way home.
After eating, Gu Yi said she would go to the store to boil the eggs.
Ye Qian stood up, ready to go too.
Ye’s mother pulled Ye Qian back down to sit.
"Hao Hao, you go with Yiyi."
She quickly nudged Ye Hao outside.
"Let’s go then."
Gu Yi felt a bit helpless seeing Ye’s mother’s actions but didn’t mind.
"Mom, you’re being too obvious."
Ye Qian couldn’t hold back once Gu Yi and Ye Hao left.
"What do you know? They don’t get many chances to meet, they need to seize the time to bond."
Ye’s mother just hoped their relationship would progress rapidly. Who knows when her son would come back once he leaves.
It’s best to tie their hearts together while there’s a chance.
Ye Qian understood what her mother was thinking, and let her do as she pleased.
After closing up for the night, Gu Yi finished preparations for the next day and went home.
After they both showered, Gu Yi felt suddenly nervous seeing the man sitting by the bed.
Although they had shared a bed that afternoon, Ye Hao had been drunk then.
Now both of them were sober—what should they talk about?
"Are you tired? Don’t just stand there, come to bed."
Ye Hao saw Gu Yi standing there with a red face, and he also felt nervous.
Gu Yi suddenly felt disdain for herself. They’ve been together in the past life and planned to live well together in this life—why hesitate now?
She relaxed instantly.
As the room dimmed, after a while, she heard Ye Hao say softly.
"Yiyi, I’ll treat you well."
Early the next morning, Ye’s mother saw Ye Hao come out beaming.
"Mom, still planning to work this morning? I’ll help, let Yiyi sleep a bit longer."
"Alright, I know you care about your wife."
Ye’s mother was happy to see her son so joyful.
When Gu Yi woke up, she checked the time and saw it was already ten. She sat up quickly.
The moment she moved, her whole body felt sore as if she’d been taken apart and put back together.
She didn’t know what to do with the soiled bedsheet tossed aside.
Washing it would be like announcing to the world what happened last night.
Gu Yi decided to ignore it and just left.
"Yiyi, you’re up, come have something to eat."
Ye’s mother eagerly set up food when she saw Gu Yi come out.
Gu Yi could tell Ye’s mother was in an exceptionally good mood today, practically floating as she walked.
While Gu Yi was eating, Ye Hao returned.
He sat right next to her as soon as he entered and moved closer when his mom wasn’t around.
"You’re up, are you still tired?"
Gu Yi’s face turned beet red at Ye Hao’s words.
"You’re the one who should talk! I’m ready to fall apart."
Bringing it up made Gu Yi indignant. He was like a bull last night.
Luckily, Ye Qian didn’t sleep in the next room, or she wouldn’t be able to face anyone today.
She was grateful to Ye’s mother for that.
The original plan was for Ye Fu and Ye’s mother to have the master bedroom, Gu Yi to stay in the one next to the living room, and Ye Qian next to Gu Yi.
Last night, Ye’s mother suddenly moved Ye Qian to the room by the kitchen.
"Thank you, come on, eat more and recover properly."
Ye Hao knew he might have overdone it last night, so he quickly placated Gu Yi.
She pouted, which Ye Hao found incredibly adorable.
If he wasn’t worried about his mom walking in, he would have kissed her right then.
"Let’s go out after you finish eating."
"Where to? Is there something to do?"
"Do you have your ID with you?"
"Yes, I always carry it."
"That’s good, take your time eating."
"What is it?"
Gu Yi saw Ye Hao acting mysterious.
"What’s going on?"
"You silly girl, we’re going to legitimize things."
Gu Yi then realized they hadn’t registered their marriage yet. They had been so busy, she forgot about it.
The paperwork was done quickly, and they looked at the marriage certificate with their photo taken at the civil affairs bureau.
Though it was black and white, the joy on their faces was unmistakable.
"Now I can really be at ease."
Ye Hao glanced from the marriage certificate to Gu Yi.
"How come you’re not at ease? You didn’t seem too attached the day after our wedding."
Alright, now he’s digging up old grievances.
"Wife, I was wrong then. I acted rashly without winning your heart first and went straight to the army. Please, my good wife, forgive me this once."
Gu Yi looked at Ye Hao playing coy and couldn’t hold back her laughter.
"Okay, since you know you were wrong, I’ll forgive you this time."
They smiled at each other.
"Let’s go visit your parents. As their son-in-law, I haven’t gone since we married. Today, I should make a good impression so they can vouch for me if I upset you later."
"You’re thinking way ahead."
"Of course, I can’t be with you every day. If they keep me in your thoughts, you won’t forget me."
Though said in jest, they were Ye Hao’s true feelings.
Being in the army, he was used to coming and going without too much attachment.
But now there seemed to be a different longing for home.
