CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: SOMETHING HAPPENED

The two remaining rooms, the one in the middle is the study.

In the center of the room, there is a decorative partition with beaded curtains hanging on it. On the desk inside, there are brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones. A row of bookshelves lined up against the wall behind it holds various books and different types of brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones.

Outside the beaded curtain, there are bamboo racks on each side. They hold erhu, pipa, xiao, flute, guzheng, and guqin, and there’s more than one of each instrument. It seems that the original owner was quite the talented woman, fond of collecting these.

The last room contains various pharmaceutical tools, with a few prescriptions laid out on a bamboo table nearby.

Yu Xinyan was a bit puzzled. Among the five books, apart from one titled the "Medicinal Properties Poem," which is about pharmacology, the others, although closely related to Chinese medicine, were all just symptomatic prescriptions. So, was the original owner a doctor or not?

You could say she wasn’t a doctor, but she seemed to recognize medicinal materials, understand pharmacology, and could prescribe based on symptoms. But on the other hand, if you said she was knowledgeable in medicine, besides that one "Medicinal Properties Poem," there were no other medical books here.

Unable to figure it out, she stopped thinking about it since it was getting late. After the excitement passed, she started feeling a bit sleepy.

Yu Xinyan wanted to check the flow of time in this space, so with a thought, she left the space, picked up the thermal flask in the room as a cover, and opened the door to go out.

She walked directly towards the registration room in front. She had noticed before that there was a small round iron clock on the table in the registration room.

When returning, she paid special attention to the time. She took the thermal flask in case the lady at the registration room asked any questions, she’d say, "I’m here to ask where to get hot water."

To avoid embarrassment.

But obviously, she was overthinking it. When she got there, the lady didn’t even look up. She glanced at the time, it was a little past nine in the evening.

This meant that during the time she was in the space, only an hour had passed outside. But she felt she had spent at least over four hours in the space. With a rough idea in mind, she then took the thermal flask to the backyard and filled it with hot water before returning to her room.

Thinking: It’s better to buy an alarm clock to compare when I have the time.

After washing up, she lay on the bed. She thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep due to the great surprise she had, but perhaps because she felt she had something to rely on, she soon drifted off into a vague sleep.

Early the next morning, she was awakened by a knock on the door from outside.

The visitor was none other than Sister Tian, who had been looking after her for the past few days: "Sister Tian, why are you here?"

Sister Tian had a constipated expression on her face and didn’t know how to tell Yu Xinyan: "Well, there’s something, Jun Cheng’s family, you, that is, ah, you’d better quickly go home and have a look, something happened, ah, this is so troublesome."

Yu Xinyan yawned, intending to invite her in: "Sister, if there’s something, come in and say it."

Sister Tian looked at Yu Xinyan with some sympathy and spoke urgently: "I won’t come in. You quickly tidy up a bit and come with me to take a look, something really happened."

Yu Xinyan asked with some suspicion: "What happened?"

Sister Tian felt embarrassed: "Ah, don’t ask, just quickly tidy up and come with me."

It was then that Yu Xinyan noticed something was amiss from Sister Tian’s expression: "Sister, what on earth happened?"

Sister Tian saw that Yu Xinyan wouldn’t let it go without a clear explanation. She thought that sooner or later, she would find out anyway, so she clenched her teeth and said it out: "Lyu Juncheng and Yao Hui were caught in a room by someone, and more than one person saw it. The family quarters over there are in an uproar now."
