CHAPTER 259: CHAPTER 259: I HOPE THEY CAN MEET

Upstairs, Emma and the others ended the surveillance when they saw Godfery Shaw and Sophie Allen enter the Lego building area.

Sophie’s private area has no surveillance.

Emma couldn’t help but complain, "Godfery Shaw is too shameless. How can someone like him play with kids’ toys?"

Nancy didn’t speak or write.

She thought to herself that someone like Godfery Shaw could actually do even more shameless things.

Back then, after getting drunk, he could even call her ’sister’ like a little puppy.

After watching the surveillance for a long time, Nancy yawned.

Seeing this, Emma said, "Building Lego isn’t a one-time thing. You should take a nap first and go to the flower room in the afternoon."

Nancy nodded in agreement; her weak condition made her sleepy, and she spent most of her day sleeping.

With Godfery Shaw downstairs, she was also inconvenient to go downstairs.

In the Lego room downstairs, Sophie was quite excited.

Mr. Shaw was too clever, and the two worked together without any stubborn disagreements; instead, they complemented each other, giving Sophie a comfort she had never felt before.

This time, the building wasn’t led by Godfery Shaw but by Sophie, as if Sophie had gained a super strong assistant, clearing her mind considerably, giving her a sense of clarity.

A corner of the huge manor was gradually taking shape.

The two continued discussing the assembly plan.

Sophie returned to her usual talkative self, and Godfery Shaw seemed to no longer remain silent.

Time passed quickly; two to three hours went by in a blink, and it was noon.

The Lego set had only assembled a corner.

Such a complex large Lego set might take professional players two to three days to complete, as for Godfery Shaw and Sophie, taking their time, it would take at least ten days.

Having built this little, it’s natural that their cooperation would continue, and the purpose of Godfery Shaw sending this Lego set was indeed very clear.

Sophie reluctantly said, "We’ll have to continue building later. Mr. Shaw, when will you have time?"

Godfery Shaw calmly replied, "There’s time this afternoon too."

Sophie was delighted and instinctively said, "Then have lunch at my house, and we can cooperate on the building in the afternoon."

"Alright."

After saying this, Sophie immediately regretted it, her mom was at home.

What if Mr. Shaw stayed here and met her mom? Her mom had said not to see Mr. Shaw.

Sophie quickly wanted to say, forget it, let’s build next time instead.

Godfery Shaw had already left the Lego area, went out to put on his shoes and wash his hands, preparing to stay for lunch.

Sophie opened her mouth but couldn’t speak.

Like a child who had done something wrong, she used her children’s watch to dial Emma’s number: "Mrs. Lewis, I think I made a mistake."

Emma was busy at the company, received Sophie’s call, both hands holding documents, tilted her head, pinning the phone against her shoulder, and asked, "What mistake?"

Sophie softly said, "I’ve asked Mr. Shaw to stay for lunch, and my mom is still at home. What if they meet?"

Emma was stunned and silently cursed Godfery Shaw again; the man really had a way, having won Sophie’s favor within a morning, even getting her to invite him to lunch.

Emma put down the file in her hand, picked up the phone with her left hand, and continued, "Don’t worry, so be it, it’s not a big deal. I’m heading back soon."

Sophie breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Emma was coming back.

Emma then quickly made a call to Basil: "Basil, I have things to do this afternoon. There are some urgent files in the company that need your handling, and a client meeting that must take place; the assistant will notify you shortly to meet at the designated time."

"Emma... wait..."

"That’s it."

The call ended.

Basil was already dumbfounded.

The young master staying this morning meant he and Hailey went back to Cloudglow to work.

Cloudglow had a bunch of things to handle, and now the young master informed him he wouldn’t be back this afternoon either.

Basil hadn’t had time to be upset when Emma sent a bunch more tasks his way; was she trying to kill him?

Hailey glanced at her brother, giving him a sympathetic look; her brother was truly pitiful.

Emma didn’t care if Basil was busy or not; she didn’t trust anyone else.

Having relayed the tasks to Basil, Emma quickly rushed back to Ink Manor.

Upon entering Ink Manor, she noticed the atmosphere was a bit tense.

Seeing Godfery Shaw quietly sitting on a chair nearby, Emma smirked; this person really had a way of single-handedly making the atmosphere at Ink Manor go awry.

Robert Reed was in the kitchen, Sophie was next to him helping wash vegetables, head down.

Emma glanced at Godfery Shaw and walked into the kitchen.

Seeing Emma, Sophie seemed to see a savior and immediately called out, "Mrs. Lewis."

Emma patted Sophie’s little head and said to Robert Reed, "Mr. Reed, I’ll take Nancy’s lunch up later."

Robert Reed replied with a bit of temper, "Why hide! Does our Nancy owe him or something? If he’s here, there’s no reason to keep hiding!"

Sophie nodded in agreement.

Emma suddenly felt that indeed, since Godfery Shaw had come to seek reconciliation with Sophie, there was no need for Nancy to keep avoiding him.

She suddenly turned to Sophie and asked, "Do you hope they meet?"

Sophie glanced at her grandpa, softly saying, "I hope they can meet."

Sophie knew her mom wanted to see Mr. Shaw; when she went to find Godfery Shaw, she saw the bouquet of roses and the card on it.

The handwriting on the card was her mom’s, and Sophie had seen it often recently and could recognize it.

She knew the reason her mom hadn’t gone to meet him was for her own sake.

If only she had to endure some grievance, it wouldn’t matter; after all, her mom had suffered for so many years, she wanted her mom to be happy from now on.

After Sophie finished speaking, Emma pinched her little face and praised, "Our Sophie is indeed a good child. You don’t need to help in the kitchen anymore; go out and chat with Godfery Shaw, he’ll probably feel lonely sitting there alone."

Sophie handed Emma the preferred vegetables, obediently wiped her hands and walked out.

After Sophie went out, Emma and Robert Reed quietly chatted.

Emma started, "Nancy avoids him because of Godfery Shaw’s attitude towards Sophie. Now, clearly Godfery Shaw’s attitude has changed, perhaps Nancy could see him."

"Changed? Does giving in once mean change?"

"Mr. Reed, you don’t understand Godfery Shaw. For someone like Godfery Shaw, either he doesn’t compromise at all, or if he does give in once, it means he’s genuinely agreed to it."

"Fine, as long as that boy cares a bit more for Sophie in the future, I have no objections. You should go ask Nancy."

"Alright, I’ll go upstairs and talk to Nancy."

"You... be nice, don’t speak so loudly to her."

Emma rolled her eyes, "Got it."

Old Mr. Reed protected his family fiercely; he genuinely treated Nancy as a daughter and Sophie as a granddaughter, not allowing anyone to harm them in the slightest.

Emma went upstairs to find Nancy.

Planning to talk to her about meeting Godfery Shaw.
