CHAPTER 357: CHAPTER 357: FATE HAS OTHER PLANS

Godfery Shaw said to Ian Bailey, "Nancy has been in the water for too long. She has a fever. I gave her two doses of antipyretic based on the dosage I know, with roughly four-hour intervals."

Godfery Shaw looked like the injured one, but everyone present was used to him putting Nancy first.

Even Ian Bailey was used to it.

To Godfery Shaw, stomach bleeding, insomnia—these were nothing serious.

But for this little girl he protected as if she were his own eyes, every bump and bruise was a big deal.

Ian Bailey took Nancy’s pulse, and his expression became instantly serious. He urgently said, "The heart is beating slowly! Quickly, bring my medical kit over!"

Godfery Shaw felt a tightness in his chest.

Someone immediately handed the medical kit to Ian Bailey.

Ian Bailey took out silver needles from the kit, disinfected them, and quickly inserted them into Nancy’s body.

Godfery Shaw watched from the side, his hand clenched into a tight fist.

Everyone was tensely waiting, with so many people present, not making a single sound.

Until Nancy was almost turned into a porcupine, Ian Bailey took her pulse again, and her heartbeat gradually stabilized.

Ian Bailey wiped the sweat from his forehead and sighed with relief, "Alright, it’s finally stabilized."

Godfery Shaw, whose hands were trembling from tension, asked, "Is she alright now?"

"She’s considered alright now. The exposure to cold, fever, and shock are not major issues for ordinary people, but they are life-threatening to her. Thankfully, the fever medicine was given in time; otherwise, the high fever could have kept her from waking up. And luckily, I arrived in time; otherwise, her heart would have gradually slowed down until it stopped."

Every muscle in Godfery Shaw’s body tensed up as if his back wound had torn open, with blood rapidly staining his white shirt.

Ian Bailey saw this and quickly said, "Don’t get too worked up. This little girl wasn’t meant to die. With me here, she’ll be fine. Her body can’t handle random medication, but with a period of medicinal baths, she’ll recover. Your injury is difficult to treat here; let’s head back first and sort it out."

Godfery Shaw took a deep breath to calm himself.

Basil Smith had been standing by with a coat. After Ian Bailey removed all the silver needles from Nancy’s body, Basil draped the coat over Nancy.

He then took another coat and draped it over Godfery Shaw.

Emma Lewis was surprised. Basil, someone who always prioritized Godfery Shaw, actually gave the coat to Nancy first even though Godfery was in such a dire state.

Basil noticed Emma Lewis’s confusion and softly explained, "In our household, everything takes a back seat to the Young Madam."

Emma Lewis nodded in agreement, admitting that although Godfery Shaw’s personality might not be the best, he indeed cared for Nancy deeply.

At that moment, Clement approached with a computer in his arms and couldn’t help but say, "Big Brother, you... you have injuries. We can take care of the Young Madam."

Godfery Shaw cast a glance at Clement colder than the night itself.

Clement felt like he was being stared at by a bloodthirsty wolf, sensing a murderous intent; her steps froze, and she tightened her grip on the computer.

Why was Big Brother looking at him with that gaze? Had he noticed something?

Had Big Brother discovered what he was up to?

A bodyguard behind him patted Clement’s shoulder, "Clement, what nonsense are you spouting? How could Big Brother hand over the Young Madam to others? Everyone’s leaving, catch up!"

Having found the person, everyone’s spirits lifted, including Hailey Smith’s.

No one noticed Clement, who seemed uneasy and restless.

The group quickly boarded the boat.

In a rush to find someone, the makeshift boats gathered nearby didn’t have a restroom. Everyone was busy with boiling water and handling medicine.

Nancy’s condition stabilized, but she was still drowsy.

Ian Bailey prepared some herbs for Nancy to soak her feet in, to dispel the chill from her body.

The boat was full of men, and it took Emma Lewis some time to remember she was a woman and quickly said, "Godfery, let me take care of Nancy."

Godfery Shaw placed Nancy in a chair to lean on, adjusted the water temperature, and squatted down to put Nancy’s feet into the warm water.

Emma Lewis opened her mouth but hesitated to speak.

Aside from the cockpit, this simple boat only had one large cabin, where everyone could see Godfery Shaw.

This usually aloof man, regardless of how many people were present, squatted in front of Nancy, carefully massaging her feet.

Emma Lewis looked at everyone, who seemed to find it all very normal.

This suggested that this was how Godfery Shaw usually behaved in the Imperial Garden.

Emma Lewis sighed, deciding not to pick on Godfery Shaw anymore. She leaned in and asked Basil Smith, "Big Miss, besides being saved by Nancy once when he was young, does the Big Brother owe anything else to Nancy? He’s so devoted to her."

Basil Smith pushed his glasses up his nose with a stern face, quietly saying, "Don’t call me Big Miss outside. Saving that one time was enough. From start to finish, the Young Madam is Big Brother’s entire hope."

"Alright, then I’ll call you Big Miss in bed."

Basil Smith’s serious expression turned instantly red, "I didn’t mean it like that!"

Emma Lewis didn’t care what Basil meant, nodding thoughtfully, "Godfery certainly is devoted. I hope they can live peacefully from now on; they’ve been through too much these years."

After the herbal foot soak, Nancy broke out in a sweat, and when Godfery Shaw went to fetch a towel for her, Nancy woke up.

Everyone gathered around.

"Is the Young Madam awake?"

"Mr. Bailey, please have a look!"

"Young Madam, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"

Hearing so many voices, Nancy realized she and Godfery Shaw had been rescued.

She weakly leaned back against the chair, and the first words she said were, "Has Godfery’s back injury been treated?"

Everyone on the boat paused.

Without Nancy waking up, no one dared to remind Big Brother about his injury.

And even if they did, Big Brother wouldn’t listen.

Seeing everyone’s expression, Nancy knew it hadn’t been treated. She silently looked at Godfery Shaw, who was approaching her with a towel.

Under her gaze, Godfery Shaw wiped the sweat from her forehead and sat down beside her, taking off his coat and said, "Let’s treat the wound."

Ian Bailey unreservedly laughed, "You’re quite something, not caring at all!"

The others didn’t dare laugh; they were used to Big Brother’s trivial demeanor in front of the Young Madam.

Godfery Shaw’s back injury was actually very serious. The force of the explosion was too strong, and his entire back was somewhat charred. In such a severely wounded state, soaking in the murky river water for so long—had Nancy not cleaned and treated him forcefully on the island, it would be even worse now.

Ian Bailey couldn’t help but complain, "The wound area is too large, making it inconvenient to treat on the boat. If you keep this up, you’ll end up killing yourself. If you die, who will take care of this frail girl of yours?"

Upon hearing this, Godfery Shaw paused, then suddenly said, "The wound is somewhat inflamed, give me a drip."

Ian Bailey: "..."

Not willing to even look a moment ago, and now he couldn’t wait to go back—demanding an immediate drip. Ian Bailey was momentarily at a loss for words.

Ah, young people these days, love really is life-threatening!
