CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 60: FINDING SOMEONE

Amelia Wright was brought back to the Imperial Garden.

She ignored the turmoil in Godfery Shaw’s eyes and went straight to her room, closing the door behind her.

Looking at the marks all over herself, Amelia closed her eyes, a hint of sadness flickering in them.

How could she touch Godfery Shaw!

Amelia changed out of her black dress and tossed it into the trash can. Godfery Shaw’s shirt, for some reason, she didn’t discard.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

She hadn’t planned to return to the Imperial Garden, but the child’s matter was sudden. Allowing Godfery Shaw to forcibly bring her back wasn’t something she couldn’t resist, but finding that child was more important right now.

Amelia locked herself in the room, and her meals were brought to her by Joyce.

Perhaps Joyce had seen the marks on Godfery Shaw’s neck, and his attitude towards Amelia was icy, completely devoid of the kindness from before.

Amelia felt a chill in her heart. Others’ belongings are still others’, and others’ loved ones will never belong to her.

The warmth she felt before was just a dream, right?

She decided not to dwell on Joyce’s attitude and opened the computer in front of her.

According to yesterday’s information, the child was actually in the Southern Shore District of Riverwood City.

The person she spoke with yesterday was clearly just a scapegoat and didn’t know anything more specific.

This person knew only this bit of detail, likely given by the people behind the scenes to lure her in.

But having this rough address was enough for Amelia.

In her past life, she knew the woman’s name, knew how old the child was, knew their appearances, and knew the woman loved to gamble. She had enough information.

Amelia’s fingers danced across the keyboard.

The computer displayed a dense data network, which soon shrank down, marking several points with red circles.

The red circles gradually decreased until only two were left.

With a swift click of the keyboard, Amelia said, "Found it."

Having pinpointed the location, Amelia got up and opened the room door.

She needed to find the person.

Thinking about how her brother’s child might be suffering abuse, Amelia could not wait any longer.

The Imperial Garden was still very quiet, but all the maids and the housekeeper had returned.

The second young master hadn’t appeared again, possibly locked up by Godfery due to previous troubles.

Amelia considered that, to ensure nothing went wrong, she found Hailey Smith and said, "I want to borrow some people from the Imperial Garden."

"Borrow people? Young Madam, what are you planning to do?" Hailey Smith asked cautiously.

He was a little wary of the Young Madam now. She seemed delicate but had many tricks up her sleeve and could be ruthless; she knocked him out just like that.

Amelia didn’t elaborate: "Nothing much, just want to teach someone a lesson."

Noticing the Young Madam’s displeasure, Hailey didn’t dare inquire further and promptly called over more than a dozen bodyguards: "Young Madam, whoever you want to teach a lesson, just say the word, and I’ll make sure they won’t even be recognized by their own mother!"

Amelia thought about how that woman was merely a shrew, yet a powerless one, and didn’t require so many people.

She could handle it herself; borrowing people was just for absolute security.

She rubbed her forehead and said, "Not so many, two will do."

Hailey immediately pointed to himself: "Me, me, just me will suffice, Young Madam, take me along."

Amelia found Hailey noisy, but she was somewhat pleased with him, so she nodded: "Alright, just you then."

At this moment, Godfery Shaw approached, wearing a buttoned-up shirt and long pants. Despite the hidden neck marks, he radiated an overpowering and icy aura: "Where are you going? I’ll go with you."

Amelia replied coldly, "No need, Hailey will go with me."

Hailey froze, suddenly feeling chills down his neck. His survival instincts kicked in: "Young Madam, while I might suffice for two, the young master is equivalent to ten of me! Let the young master accompany you."

Amelia remained dismissive: "No need, you go."

Hailey felt as if he was about to be silenced forever.

He quickly clutched his stomach, groaning: "Oh dear, Young Madam, my stomach... I need to find my brother... I’m sick... Yes, I’m sick."

Amelia’s face turned cold: "I’ll say it again, you go with me, or I’ll go alone."

Hailey stopped wailing; indeed, the Young Madam was terrifying...

Godfery Shaw’s expression grew colder, his eyes filled with a sharply repressed danger.

Amelia saw the sickly look in his eyes, as if he despised her.

Was he really loathing touching her yesterday?

Nobody knew that what Amelia loathed wasn’t Godfery Shaw, but herself.

Hailey timidly sat in the driver’s seat.

Godfery joined Amelia in the back seat.

Amelia frowned slightly: "For a dignified eldest young master of the Shaw family, is this entanglement fun for you?"

"I said I need compensation," Godfery reiterated coldly, "Where are you going?"

Amelia wanted to get out and leave immediately, but her body was indeed too weak. What if something unexpected happened and she couldn’t bring back the child?

If Godfery wanted to follow, she would let him.

She would let him see her other side, see her coldness and filth.

After deciding, Amelia said, "Southern Shore District."

Hailey immediately started the car.

The journey was eerily silent.

Hailey was tense throughout, fearing something might occur in the back seat.

The car headed straight to the Southern Shore District of Aning City, to a Starry Kindergarten.

Hailey was puzzled at the sight of the kindergarten. Was the Young Madam really here to teach someone a lesson?

It was the time for children to be dismissed, and the school entrance was filled with parents lining up to pick up their kids.

The car parked a short distance away, and Amelia sat inside, watching the entrance intently.

Godfery Shaw just watched Amelia, as if trying to see through her heart.

There were fewer parents and children at the entrance; one by one, they left with their kids, leaving only a few latecomers.

After a while, only a teacher remained at the entrance, holding the hand of a little boy.

The teacher frowned, impatiently asking, "Does your mom care about you or not? She’s always late, making me stay after hours, waiting here."

The little boy, with clear big eyes, glanced at the teacher, then the school gate, and bit his lip, lowering his head.

After the teacher made three impatient calls and even threatened to expel him, a woman dressed in a tight, strappy dress and with heavy makeup finally sauntered over.

The moment she arrived, she raised her hand and slapped the child, saying disdainfully, "You’re a burden, making me lose money in cards."

The teacher seemed used to it, impatiently handing over the boy to the woman.

The little boy didn’t cry, his eyes appearing somewhat numb.

Amelia narrowed her eyes slightly.

Godfery Shaw shifted his gaze from Amelia to the scene.

After the woman left with the child, Amelia stepped out of the car and walked toward the kindergarten.

The teacher had noticed the luxury car parked nearby earlier, and upon seeing the woman who got off, with such beauty and poise, assumed she was either affluent or noble, and promptly greeted her with a smile.

"Hello, are you here to enroll your child in our kindergarten?"

Amelia walked step by step: "I want all surveillance videos, photos, and proof of injuries on that child just now."

Her voice was so cold, it felt like ice softly tapping at one’s heart.

The teacher immediately dropped her smile: "Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean. No child in our kindergarten is injured."
