Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes
Chapter 82: We Are Not Friends
CHAPTER 82: CHAPTER 82: WE ARE NOT FRIENDS
Emma Lewis originally wanted to take Amelia Wright back to her own home.
Can people live in that old neighborhood?
But seeing Amelia Wright in such poor condition right now, she didn’t dare to argue with her, fearing she might provoke her.
Emma Lewis called Hailey Smith over and asked, "Can your hand still drive?"
Hailey Smith immediately fixed his dislocated arm, nodding, "No problem."
The young lord had some restraint in his actions, only a dislocation, not a fracture.
Perhaps because Hailey Smith saved Amelia Wright, Emma Lewis was relatively polite to him, "Alright, you drive, let’s go."
The three of them returned to number 32 in the old neighborhood. The one-bedroom apartment was too small, so Hailey Smith, a big man, stayed outside guarding the door.
Emma Lewis placed Amelia Wright on the small bed in the room and glanced at the surroundings. The place was the size of a palm, but it was tidily arranged. Knowing this was Amelia Wright’s residence, Emma Lewis actually found it quite nice.
Amelia Wright didn’t pass out, she was just overly weak physically. Seeing that she was home, she tried to get out of bed.
Emma Lewis hurriedly stepped forward to support her, "I’ll help you with whatever you need to do. Don’t get out of bed in your condition."
Amelia Wright paused for a moment and softly said, "Could you bring me the medicine from the kitchen?"
"Okay, lie down, I’ll get it for you."
Amelia Wright leaned back on the bed while Emma Lewis hurriedly ran to the kitchen.
She saw some leftover Chinese herbal medicine in the kitchen. On the table was a bowl of decocted medicine, which she heated up a bit before bringing it out.
After handing it to Amelia Wright, Emma Lewis asked, "What medicine is this? Your body is so weak, what’s wrong? Every time I see you, you’re sicker than before. How about I have my uncle look at you?"
Amelia Wright paused with the medicine bowl in her hand and then shook her head, "No need, I’ve just been frail since birth. I’ve already had it checked, taking my medicine on time will be fine."
Since Amelia Wright didn’t want her to, Emma Lewis didn’t insist and thought about everything that happened today at the Imperial Garden, feeling a bit heavy-hearted.
"Alright, just remember to take your medicine on time. Don’t be too sad; it’s rare to find a three-legged toad, but not a two-legged man. It’s not necessarily going to be someone from the Shaw family."
Amelia Wright finished the bitter concoction in one gulp, "I’m not sad."
Emma Lewis thought to herself that Amelia Wright was just being stubborn. Did she think she couldn’t see through it?
But she didn’t expose Amelia Wright, instead cheerfully changing the topic.
Emma Lewis smiled brightly and said, "Speaking of which, thank you for coming specifically to save me today. I truly haven’t wasted our friendship!"
Amelia Wright looked at Emma Lewis seriously, "You saved me before; I’m just repaying your kindness. We’re not friends, and I won’t have friends."
Amelia Wright felt she didn’t need friends, or family, or lovers.
She was like a stone that couldn’t be warmed, inherently distant from everyone, including Robert Reed and Emma Lewis who were good to her.
Upon hearing that, Frank Lewis’s sharp eyebrows tightened into a straight line.
She suddenly lunged at Amelia Wright lying on the bed, tickling her playfully, arrogantly saying, "Who are you saying you’re not friends with? Explain it to me. But if you don’t want to be friends, we can be siblings. Call me brother and see if I dare to agree!"
Amelia Wright never expected Emma Lewis to do this. She had always been cold and indifferent, like an ice sculpture of a flower—beautiful but cold and prickly to touch. No one would get excessively close to Amelia Wright.
But Emma Lewis seemed completely unafraid of this coldness.
Amelia Wright feared being tickled; as soon as Emma Lewis reached out to her, she couldn’t help but struggle and laugh, "Emma Lewis! You... haha, let go..."
Emma Lewis triumphantly asked, "So, are we friends?"
Amelia Wright laughed so hard that tears came out, completely unable to resist under Emma Lewis’s hand, she could only reply with a trembling voice, "Yes... yes, friends."
Only then did Emma Lewis generously let go, smoothing the hair Amelia Wright messed up while struggling, "Good girl!"
Amelia Wright: "..."
Amelia Wright wasn’t afraid of people being harsh to her or threatening her, but she never imagined someone would insist on being friends by tickling her.
Is someone like her really worthy of having friends?
Emma Lewis is so pure.
Not the pretense like Evelyn Dawson, but her soul is purely clean.
The eldest daughter of the Lewis family in Capital City was worry-free since childhood, loved by her family, carrying the patriotic sentiment of a military family, living brightly and righteously.
Amelia Wright felt so filthy, how could she be friends with someone like that?
Amelia Wright’s face that was flushed from laughing gradually paled again.
Emma Lewis reached out to pinch Amelia Wright’s face, looking like an older brother, "Have a good rest. I’ll be off now, and I’ll find someone reliable to take care of you later."
Emma Lewis was actually thinking about whether her antics had improved Amelia Wright’s mood.
Amelia Wright’s little face turned red from being pinched, and in front of Emma Lewis, she couldn’t immerse herself in her own sorrowful and chaotic emotions, being forcefully led by Emma Lewis.
Just as Amelia Wright was about to say she didn’t need anyone to take care of her, Hailey Smith’s voice suddenly came from the door.
"Uh... well... anyway, I got kicked out of Imperial Garden, so I’ll take care of the young lady from now on."
"Oh, I almost forgot about him," Emma Lewis immediately opened the door, appraising Hailey Smith, "Great skills, even dared to take on Godfery Shaw, I’m impressed! Alright, it’s settled."
Emma Lewis made the decision strongly, forcing Amelia Wright to lie down and covering her with the quilt.
Then she took Amelia Wright’s phone and saved her own number in it, telling Amelia Wright, "I’m going to have a chat with the boy at the door. You rest well and call me if you need anything."
Amelia Wright remained silent.
Emma Lewis raised an eyebrow, looking like she’d take action if Amelia didn’t respond.
Amelia Wright finally compromised, "Hmm."
Emma Lewis then swaggered out of the room.
Fragmented whispers at the door were too faint for Amelia Wright to hear clearly, and she fell into a drowsy sleep after taking the medicine.
After Emma Lewis finished instructing Hailey Smith, she left, thinking that she knew many talented young men and would introduce one to Amelia Wright, making Godfery Shaw regret!
Hailey Smith happily guarded the door, bought two buns from the corner of the street, and started contentedly eating them, feeling like a secret agent sent by the young lord, taking on the great mission of protecting the young madam.
Everyone had their own thoughts and plans, yet nobody knew that Amelia Wright was pregnant.
Nor did anyone know that having been reborn once, Amelia Wright, apart from Godfery Shaw, couldn’t possibly have feelings for anyone else.
She would easily develop feelings for Godfery Shaw because of the bond from the five years in her past life.
There would be no one else apart from Godfery Shaw.
But now, Godfery Shaw was no longer hers.
Even though she pushed him away with her own hands, she still felt sorrow.
...
After Hailey Smith stayed, he found that the old neighborhood was actually quite safe, and everyone was quite friendly to the young madam.
His only use seemed to be picking up and dropping off Emily Allen from kindergarten...
