Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession
Chapter 245: Honestly, she missed him
CHAPTER 245: HONESTLY, SHE MISSED HIM
"Ella, is he... really your husband?" Ruby dragged Ella to a corner, watching Adrian who was taking a walk with Ji Yan, while discussing some work affairs.
Ella nodded. Last night, she had already come clean to Ruby about everything.
Who could have known that the girl would not bat an eye when she got to know about Adrian’s identity?
But the truth of their marriage seemed to have... startled her.
Ruby frowned, "A legit marriage?"
Ella nodded again, "Yes, with marriage certificates."
Ruby fell silent.
"Don’t worry. It’s not that much of an issue..."
Ruby frowned, "But you are too young."
Ella was stunned for a moment before she broke into a smile.
"What?"
"You just sounded like a concerned mother," Ella burst out in laughter.
Perhaps, recently after the confrontation with her family, Ella found Ruby’s reaction quite refreshing.
Her parents were concerned about themselves, their reputation, their younger daughter and their safety when they got to know that Adrian King had got anything to do with her.
So, in comparison, Ruby’s reaction was refreshing for Ella.
"You have barely gotten a little better and you are already on it. Didn’t I ask you to rest?"
Ella looked up as Ronan and Adrian returned, followed by Ji Yan.
Yesterday, after she went out to talk to Ruby, Ronan did the regular checkups and declared that Adrian’s condition seemed much better now.
And he no longer needed to lock himself up in the room.
While Ella was lost in her thoughts, she did not realize the shift in her surroundings.
Until a shadow hovered over her.
Ella looked up at Adrian who was standing in front of her, his head tilted down to meet her gaze.
"How do you feel today?" Ella angled her head to the side, observing his complexion.
Adrian gazed at her deeply, inhaled a deep breath before taking a step back, "Much better."
Then, his gaze shifted downwards.
Hmm? Ella followed his gaze looking at the spot where she had her hand hooked around Ruby’s.
When she looked up, Adrian was already glowering at Ruby.
Ruby sported a cold face on before she averted her gaze.
The atmosphere tensed, dark clouds hovering in the air.
"Cough..." Ronan quietly stepped in between and separated Ruby from Ella.
Ruby glanced at him, narrowing her eyes.
Ronan released her hand, "I just wanted to talk.’’
"We don’t have anything to talk about," With that, she turned around and walked off to the guest room.
Later that day, Ella finally mentioned about the affairs of Ambrose family to Adrian.
And followed by that was her decision to temporary let them stay at the Eve Mansion.
"Actually, I have some other arrangements in mind but right now, I am worried it won’t be safe for them..." With the kind of person Mr. Ambrose was, he would definitely seek them out regardless of where they were.
The only place he wouldn’t try to reach out to was probably the Eve Mansion.
She was worried Adrian might not agree to it.
But Adrian ordered Ji Yan in a heartbeat, "Take Miss Ambrose back. And make sure the both of them are taken care of."
Ella sighed, feeling grateful, "Baby, you really don’t mind?"
Adrian put his phone down, gazing at the woman who was sitting by his side, with her legs crossed on the couch, "No."
Ella’s eyes twinkled.
Ji Yan refrained his urge to puke from the overdose of dogfood.
Miss Yu, ah, Miss Yu, can’t you see what Second Master is upto? In a few words, he managed to get rid of me and Miss Ambrose at the same time. Next, it will be Dr. Knight’s turn.
Ji Yan looked at Ella like she was some sacrifical lamb.
On the other hand, how could Ella be clueless of Adrian’s intentions?
She simply did not mind falling into his ’trap’.
It has been quite some time since Adrian had been hiding from here.
And as much as Ella was reluctant to admit it—
She missed him.
...
When Ruby and Ji Yan reached the Eve Mansion, Mrs. Ambrose was no longer around.
"What do you mean she left?" Ruby’s face turned frosty.
"Mrs. Ambrose was talking to me just now when she got a call from the hospital. Mr. Ambrose is... in a bad state so she left in a rush."
Ruby’s brows tugged together.
"I have arranged a trustworthy driver to send her there and I was just about to inform Miss Yu regarding the same."
"Thanks."
Ruby could barely hear anything as she turned around and walked out of the mansion.
...
On the other side.
True to Ji Yan’s predictions, Ronan was chased away that same evening, despite his protests.
Later that night, Adrian and Ella sat on the seashore, next to each other.
"You haven’t even fully recovered yet but you have already chased your doctor away. Are you expecting me to have some medical skills?"
Adrian grabbed her by her waist and pulled her onto his lap.
Then, he buried his chin in the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent deeply, "Mmm."
Ella squirmed in his lap, feeling the warmth slowly trailing inside her body.
"Baby..." She called out gently.
Adrian planted a kiss on her neck, "Yes?"
"How long did you stay there for?"
The man’s movements stopped.
Ella’s words were not explicit yet the meaning was clear to both of them.
"One night."
Ella froze. One night...? She hoped she was wrong about her assumptions.
Otherwise, she would not dare to think why Adrian would land in such a state after staying at his mother’s place for a night.
Maybe his sickness and his stay there were completely unrelated. And maybe she was overthinking about it.
Yet, no matter how she consoled herself, those thoughts would not leave her at all.
In one way or another, Ella felt like Adrian’s health condition, his sudden relapse, surely had something to do with that place... or that person.
Ella snapped out of her thoughts when his arm tightened around her waist as he pulled her in, almost possessively.
She shook off her thoughts and turned to face him, "You were glaring at Ruby today. Don’t tell me you are jealous of my friends, that even a woman?"
Adrian pinched her chin, tilting his head to the side.
Gently stroking her chin, he leaned in and whispered next to her ear, "Nobody comes that close, Elle. Only me."
Ella’s heart fluttered, heat crept up her cheeks.
It sounded so wrong yet she felt so...
"Too possessive." Ella gently nudged him away and got up to her feet, heading towards the sea, "Do you own this place too?" she pointed at the condominium.
It was not as extravagant as the Eve Mansion but surrounded by a small forest and sea, the place had it’s own charm.
"Mm."
Ella began to nod but then she suddenly paused, "You told me you have never been to a sea before."
"This place is a gift. I have never been here before this."
Ella blinked. Once again, she was blinded by the ways of the rich, "Hey, why are you..."
She started backing off when the man rose to his feet and stalked towards her, one step at a time.
The moment he reached out to her, Ella let out a squeal and turned on her heels to run toward the water, but Adrian caught her from behind.
His arms wrapped tightly around her waist, lifting her off the sand as the waves licked at their ankles.
"I didn’t give you permission to run," he murmured against the shell of her ear, his voice low and velvety, like the tide slipping against the shore.
The way he said it... It was so seductive that Ella wanted to shut her ears.
Yet, she craved to hear more of it. It was weird... It was so bizarre.
Never had a man’s voice been this fatal to her.
Nevertheless, she did not let her thoughts show as she twisted in his grip, laughing breathlessly. "Since when do I need your permission?"
Adrian’s eyes gleamed under the moonlight, sharp and smoldering. "Since you made me like this."
Made him like this? What did she make him? What did she even do? It was obviously him—
Before she could even retort, he bent forward and captured her lips.
