CHAPTER 287: SHE ALSO WANTED HIM BUT...

You don’t like the flowers that wilt? Fine, I will give you the ones that will forever stay with you...!

When Ella had asked Adrian to not give her flowers, she had not expected such a day.

But her heart felt full as she sat in the passenger seat, holding the box of sunflowers in her hand. They looked just as bright as her heart felt in that moment.

Adrian brought flowers for her, on his birthday, to coax her, thinking that she was upset with him.

And it took Ella the entire drive to her apartment to wrap her head around...

How silly... and lovable a certain someone can be at times.

When they got inside the elevator, Ella glanced at the flowers in her hand and then at Adrian.

"Don’t like them?" Adrian turned to her, completely facing her now.

Ella held the box a little closer to herself, "I love them," her voice was soft as she met his gaze.

Adrian’s eyes narrowed.

An unspoken tension erupted in the air. And suddenly, the huge space of the VIP elevator felt constrained.

Adrian took a step towards Ella.

And for once, Ella did not step back immediately. She stood in her spot, meeting his gaze without backing down.

At this moment—

’Ding’

The elevator door opened.

Even after a few moments, Adrian and Ella did not shift from the spot where they stood.

Just as the door started closing, an old couple rushed inside.

"It’s about to rain tonight..."

"No worries. I have asked the driver to prepare the car. We will reach dinner on time..."

"Yes..."

The trance broke.

Ella moved to get out of the elevator, only to be blocked by Adrian’s broad chest.

Before she could say a word, the man’s hand locked around her wrist in an iron grip as he firmly dragged her out of the elevator.

She struggled to keep up with him.

And suddenly, his steps slowed, letting her catch up with him.

Ella entered her passcode with shaky fingers, typing wrong numbers thrice until—

The door opened and the moment they entered, Ella was slammed against the door.

’Bam’

The box of sunflowers landed on the floor, making her gasp, "Baby, the flowers—"

Adrian did not give her the chance to speak as he captured her lips in a kiss that sent an undeniable fire zithering through her body.

The man held her wrists above her head, with one hand, pinning them to the door. While his other hand settled on her hips, gently caressing her skin through the fabric of her pink sweatshirt.

But his lips? Anything but gentle. The moment their tongues met, warmth and heat flooded through Ella.

Her knees weakened, and a soft, desperate gasp escaped her lips. Every nerve in her body ignited, and all coherent thought fled.

Adrian’s hands tightened slightly on her wrists, pulling her closer, his hips pressing insistently against hers.

The weight of him, the urgency in his kiss, left her trembling, melting, completely undone.

She tried to breathe, tried to speak, but the words got caught in the whirlwind of sensation as his kiss intensified.

The moment he released her wrists, Ella clung to him like her life depended on it. Her fingers dug into his shoulders, anchoring herself, yet craving more of him.

He tilted his head, deepening the kiss, letting his tongue trace hers with a teasing, demanding precision.

Ella’s back arched instinctively, pressing herself into him, desiring the need that seemed to come alive inside her. The ache that seemed to be screaming to have him, completely.

The world outside the room ceased to exist. The crashing of raindrops against the glasspanes, the soft rustle of the city outside, even her own pulse, all drowned beneath the storm raging between them.

Adrian’s lips left hers just long enough to trail down her jaw, nipping and brushing against her neck.

She shivered violently, breath catching in a mixture of want and surprise.

Before she could even process, he scooped her up effortlessly, holding her against his chest as he carried her toward the couch.

The fire in his eyes mirrored the fire burning inside her, and every inch of her body ached under his touch.

Her mind, however, started to return, just enough for reason to prick at her haze.

She pushed lightly against his chest, snapping out of her trance. "Wait... Adrian..." Her voice was urgent but trembling.

He froze, their eyes locking, the tension thick in the air.

The desire between them remained palpable, but the sudden clarity in Ella’s gaze made him hesitate.

Ella lowered her gaze, a hint of guilt pricking her chest.

She had wanted this... wanted him for a long time now. Yet, now that it was about to happen, she did not know why she hesitated.

What if he is frustrated this time? What if he questions me why I stopped him...

Ella’s wandering thoughts came to an abrupt halt when Adrian sat on the couch,pulling her onto his lap.

"Where is the gift?" The man suddenly asked.

No questions asked. No frustration in his eyes.

Ella looked at him for a long time till she realized that... Adrian really wasn’t angry.

She has been just as involved with him, when she has been telling him that she wanted him. Yet, the moment things escalated, she stopped him. Any man would have been angry in such a situation.

Yet, Adrian looked at her like nothing happened.

Ella left the living room with thoughts weighing on her. After a few minutes, she came back.

Both her hands were positioned behind her back.

When she came to stand in front of Adrian, she slowly moved her hand forward.

In her hand, she held a sofy toy chibi man, dressed in a black suit, looking aloof and frosty. On either side of his head, two small sunflowers sprouted like little antennas.

"Isn’t he the most handsome?" Ella mumbled softly, "The more I look at him, the more I adore him—"

Ella trailed off when the temperature in the living room dropped.

Adrian’s eyes darkened, his expressions incomprehensible as he rose to his feet.
