Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession
Chapter 292: His wife in every universe
CHAPTER 292: HIS WIFE IN EVERY UNIVERSE
Grey sweatpants clinging to every curve of his muscular legs, black t-shirt stretched snug over his chest and arms. He looked... calm and unbothered. Also completely untouched by the chaos he’d apparently caused.
In his hands, he held a pan filled with something dark and bubbling. The smoke curled up in ghostly tendrils, filling the kitchen with a burnt, acrid smell.
If Ella had to be honest, it looked like black venom.
She slowly blinked, her heart still thundering in disbelief. "B-Baby... what... what is that?"
Adrian did not bat an eyelid before he said, "Nothing."
Ella’s jaw dropped. "Nothing?! All this smoke and t-that’s almost-fire! It—"
He tilted the pan slightly, letting her see the blackened disaster inside. "I miscalculated," he deadpanned, as if this was entirely reasonable.
She stared at him in disbelief.
Her brain refused to process that this man had almost burned her flat down and was standing there, ridiculously sexy, looking like he could walk through fire and it would apologize to him.
Ella’s lips parted. "You... you’re insane," she whispered and dropped the blanket before walking off to the kitchen.
When she reached him, Adrian did not budge from his spot. Rather, he lowered his gaze slightly.
Ella’s gaze glanced at his phone that rested at a distance, displaying some recipe. And then, she let her eyes roam over to the ruination in the entire kitchen.
"Were you trying to prepare breakfast?"
"Lunch," Adrian corrected her in a soft voice, clarifying her doubts.
Ella looked at him helplessly. Unable to resist it, she stood on her tiptoes and rubbed his hair.
Adrian silently lowered his head.
Ella burst into laughter, ruffling his hair some more. "Why don’t you wait outside, baby? I will clean this up and then make something..."
Her words were yet to finish before he picked her up in his arms and walked off to the couch, "No need."
The moment his words dropped, the door to her apartment opened. Bertha stepped inside, followed by a queue of servants that looked awfully familiar. Were they imported straight from the Eve Mansion?
While Ella was in disbelief, she suddenly realized she was still dressed in Adrian’s black shirt, "Baby, I..."
Before she could finish speaking, Ella realized that none of them glanced their way. Not even once. They stepped into the kitchen with a resolute look on their face.
And from the beginning to the end, not a single gaze was spared their way.
In no time, the kitchen was completely cleaned. And soon the aroma of various dishes swirled in the air.
’Grrr’
Ella stroked her stomach, "Baby, I have to take a shower and freshen up—"
Adrian did not give her the chance to finish her words. He carried her off to the kitchen and helped her throughout the ’process’.
In fact, he was awfully gentle while cleaning as if she could shatter at any moment.
A couple of times, Ella could feel something hard poking against her. And she thought that... they would probably go for ahem... another round in the background.
But once again, Adrian’s self-control managed to surprise her. He seemed completely opposite from how he had been the previous night.
After the torturously slow and long shower, Ella and Adrian sat for their lunch together.
The chefs of the Eve Mansion were certainly commendable. At such a small notice, they managed to prepare a variety of dishes.
By the time Adrian and Ella started eating, the servants had disappeared again. So, it was just the two of them in her flat.
"No wonder you have a change of clothes... So, you made them come here this morning," Ella mumbled, realizing that Adrian’s clothes were not there in her flat.
The only thing of his was his black suit that he had discarded last night.
"Ji Yan bought this," Adrian calmly said, glancing at his current outfit.
Ella rolled her eyes. Of course, knowing Ji Yan, how could that venture far away from where Adrian was?
"I thought you left for work this morning so I was surprised when I saw you in the kitchen and..." Ella trailed off, realizing what she just said.
"Why would I?" Adrian put his spoon down and glanced at her.
"Hmm?"
"Why would I leave?"
Ella pretended to think a bit before she said, "Uh... You are a busy man so I don’t expect you to stay by my side when a lot of people are probably queuing up for a few minutes from you..."
"You are my wife. All my days and nights are always available for you."
Ella’s heart nearly tripped over in her chest. The soup in her mouth suddenly tasted like honey, oh, even sweeter than honey. Excuse me, sir, you cannot be saying such things, alright?!
A thought crossed her mind and Ella smirked slyly, "What if I was not your wife?’’
Adrian arched a brow, "That’s impossible."
"Why is it impossible?"
"You will always be my wife," he said.
Ella sighed, "Say... What if I was not?"
"There is no ’not’. You are."
Ella blinked, "Okay, think of it like this. What if there is a parallel universe and there, in that place, I am not your wife... What then?"
"Impossible," Adrian said, calmer than ever, "In every universe, you are my wife."
"You don’t know that, alright?"
"I will make sure of it," the man said resolutely.
"_" Ella was speechless at this point, "I think you are impossible..."
Both the people had their lunch in silence, each wandering in their own thoughts.
Towards the end of the lunch, Ella noticed something. Adrian was stealing glances at her.
From the look of it, it seemed like he had something to say but he was holding back from saying it.
It put her into a daze. Could there be something in this world that can make Adrian hesitate?
After giving it a thought, she asked him straightforwardly, "Do you want to say something?"
Adrian paused and after a beat, he gave a slow nod.
