Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession
Chapter 297: You have me
CHAPTER 297: YOU HAVE ME
"What...?! Esther fell down the stairs... Yes, yes, honey, I am on my way back."
After the call, Mr. Yu rushed away without sparing Ella a single glance.
Ella looked at his retreating back in silence.
"Are you fine?" A shadow hovered behind her.
Ella turned to look at Adrian, who had approached her at some point, "What happened to me?"
Adrian gave her a long, hard look.
Ella smiled.
Then, wordlessly, the man pulled her into his arms, "You have me."
Even though Ella had made her peace with the entire situation, she still felt prick in her chest just now.
Yet, hearing Adrian’s words, her heart felt warm.
They stayed like that in each other’s arms for a long time before Ella pulled back to look at him, "You must have known that bringing me here would cause you troubles, why did you still do it?"
Adrian raised his hand and tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear, "I am afraid... you’d run away."
"W-What?" Ella’s mind blanked for a moment.
Then, she heard the man continue.
"It’s wiser to let the world know who you are. So, you can always find your way back to me."
What kind of twisted thinking is that? The devil on Ella’s shoulder was despising it through and through.
But the little angel on her other shoulder grinned. The kind that you find cute these days.
When Adrian and Ella left the private corner, their paths were blocked by Adrian’s grandparents.
From the look on both their faces, it was quite obvious that they had their thoughts about the entire incident.
While Old Madam remained quiet, Old Master looked at Adrian with a reprimanding gaze, "Do you know what you did wrong?"
Adrian looked back at the old man, gaze unflinching as ever, "No."
"You... Do you realize how much chaos the both of you have caused?"
"It’s fine."
"What fine?" Old Master King was immensely displeased at this point, "These little rascals will eat my head for the months to come! How could you just drag here like that and declare your relationship? Are you not afraid of the consequences?"
"Not quiet."
"_"
Old Master King clutched his chest, looking away from his infuriating grandson, "You... Couldn’t you tone it down a little bit and say that this little girl is your friend or something? How can you go all out at once!"
Now, at this point, Ella felt a little sympathy for Adrian. Who was to tell his grandpa that he toned it down by a lot!
Earlier when she agreed to be his date, Ella asked him a question: How do you want to introduce me?
And without batting an eyelid, Adrian responded: As my wife.
Then, Ella spent the next 2 hours convincing him to not do that.
Only then did Adrian switch to ’girlfriend’, very reluctantly. Ella was not very pleased with that either but seeing him all sparkly and shiny, she refrained from bargaining further.
Being introduced to such a huge circle as Adrian’s wife would certainly put shackles on her daily life.
Apart from everything else...
Ella had not found her enemy yet. The person who executed her death in her previous life was Esther.
But, Esther was not the mastermind who had her imprisoned and tortured.
And to this day, Ella did not know who he was and with what motives he killed her so ruthlessly.
A few elites crowded around them, interrupting Ella’s thoughts. They briefly greeted everyone before trying to initiate a conversation with Adrian.
Adrian, being Adrian, gave them a brief glance, nodded coolly and had no further interactions. Seemingly accustomed to his ways, the people greeted again and left.
Once they were gone, Old Master King turned to Adrian, "Don’t tell me you are going to stand beside this little girl for the rest of the night?!"
"Why not?"
Just as Old Master King was about to be infuriated beyond measure, Adrian’s phone buzzed in his pocket.
When he checked the text, he gazed down, eyes scanning the grand hall until his gaze stopped on Ji Yan who had his head lowered.
Ji Yan stood near a few aged people who were seated at a little distance on throne chairs around a lavish circular table.
Adrian turned to her.
Ella smiled at him, "I am fine here. You can go on..."
Adrian paused, observing her face for any signs of discomfort.
"Hmph! Or do you think we are gonna bully her?" Old Master King grunted.
The grandson and grandfather exchanged cold gazes, each possessing their own thoughts.
It was the Old Madam who spoke up instead, "Ian, just go ahead and do your business. With us around, nobody would bother Ella..."
Adrian’s expressions relaxed slightly when he heard his grandmother’s words, "Yes."
He turned and took a deep look at Ella before he started leaning forward.
Old Master King cleared his throat.
Ella coughed and tilted her head to the side. In the next moment, a warm palm fell on her forehead, "Be good," Adrian’s suspiciously low whisper caressed her ears before the man left.
From where Ella stood, she could see the group of men leaving the hall. Ella observed the scene curiously.
"They are some of the surviving founding fathers of the King Empires. The young ones that you see are the heirs of the ones that have passed away," Old Madam King clarified the doubts that were lingering in Ella’s heart.
Because Ella could see that Adrian did give them a lot of importance.
"If so, why are they not looking for Grandpa?"
This form of address rolled very smoothly off Ella’s tongue. While both the old people were a tad bit stunned, Ella smiled harmlessly at them.
"Girl, are you trying to butter me up...?"
Ella blinked innocently.
Inwardly, she thought: In my previous life, I was an absolute menace yet I was accepted by the both of you. In this life, I’ve changed my ways. So what if I have to butter you up? Can you complain about it?!
Old Master King harrumphed but did not continue to pick on her.
It was the Old Madam who answered Ella’s query.
