Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession
Chapter 308: They were scheming against him
CHAPTER 308: THEY WERE SCHEMING AGAINST HIM
When they looked forward, blood dripped from Adrian’s hand, each drop making a tiny, wet sound against the cold floor.
"Esther... My Esther..." Mrs. Yu rushed forward only to find Esther standing near the door, stark naked as she shivered.
Her eyes were wide with fear and her face had gone pale.
"Esther..."
"Mad... He is mad. He stabbed his hand!" Tears rolled down Esther’s eyes and her body trembled.
The sight of Adrian picking up that knife was still vivid in her mind. At that moment, the look on his face told her that it was the last day of her life.
Right then, the man raised his hand and stabbed his other hand without the slightest restraint.
And it was at that moment did Esther realize... Adrian King was just as ruthless with himself as he was with others.
"Where is she?" Adrian’s words rang in the minds of the Yu Family members like a death knell.
Mr. Yu inhaled a deep breath and composed himself, "Mr. King, we can sit and talk about...ughh..."
Mr. Yu’s eyes bulged out, the veins on his forehead popped as a strong palm wrapped around his neck.
The blood from Adrian’s hand dripped all over Mr. Yu’s suit, staining him in red.
"Where is she?" Adrian repeated, his voice low and terrifying as his grip tightened on Mr. Yu’s throat.
Mr. Yu’s face turned red as he struggled. His eyes darted helplessly before his trembling finger finally pointed toward a distant corner.
Adrian’s bloodied hand loosened just enough for the man to suck in a ragged breath.
But the moment Adrian turned to move, a sharp crash split the silence—
Bang!
A vase shattered against Adrian’s head.
The broken shards of the vase fell on the floor and Adrian’s dark shirt clung to his back, trails of blood dripping down his neck.
Mrs. Yu gasped, covering her mouth in horror. "How... how could you do this?!" she cried out, staring at her husband in disbelief.
Mr. Yu’s chest heaved, sweat dripping down his temple. "We need some time on our hands. If he takes Ella and goes out now, it will be over for our family. Let’s think of a solution while he..." His voice cracked with desperation, almost hysterical.
But then, Mr. Yu froze.
Adrian straightened slowly, as if the strike hadn’t even fazed him in the slightest.
His shoulders rose and fell with every breath, and when he turned around... his eyes were no longer the same.
They glowed a deeper shade of crimson, monstrous and untamed.
His aura thickened like a predator cornering its prey, and in that instant, Mr. Yu’s knees nearly gave way.
...
As the moonlight streamed through the store room, Ella sat slumped against the wall, Esther’s diary heavy in her hands.
Those words seemed to haunt her mind. Ella could not understand, she could not figure out what went wrong in such a short amount of time that Esther’s love for her turned into such immense hatred.
Sometimes, Ella thought that maybe Esther started hating her so much because she liked Adrian.
But it did not make sense. It could be one of the many reasons, but it could not be the only reason.
After all, her downfall in the entertainment industry was caused by Esther. She could still surmise Esther was jealous of her sudden rise to fame.
But now, after going through this diary, Ella did not know anymore.
She did not know what she could possibly do to incite such hatred in a child.
And even when she went through her childhood memories, nothing explained it. Nothing added up. In her mind and memories, they had always been close, always been the best sisters.
That was the reason why she had never doubted Esther in her previous life.
Had she not seen Esther killing her, Ella would still choose to believe her sister, even if all evidence pointed against her.
After a long moment, Ella shut the diary with trembling fingers. Her gaze shifted to the door.
’Now is not the time to sit here and think about it. I must get out of here first.’
This time, Ella had a purpose for visiting Yu Mansion.
The sole reason why she came here was not because her attitude towards her parents softened.
Despite their past conflicts, Ella couldn’t say she hated them. And it certainly moved her a bit when they looked for her and cared for her.
But, in this life, Ella had long chosen to put herself first.
Her visit to Yu Mansion had a motive behind it. For whatever reason, Ella doubted if there was something her parents had been hiding from her.
It was not a concrete suspicion and she had no evidence to prove it so she did not dare to think too much at first.
She simply wanted to look around the mansion for clues when everybody was asleep.
But Adrian’s arrival was out of her calculation.
And with Adrian’s arrival and everything that happened later, Ella knew one thing:
She had to change her plans. Because things were not as simple as they looked.
Ella pushed herself to her feet and rushed to the door, pounding her fists against it.
"Open the door!" Her voice cracked with urgency, but silence answered her.
Slowly, every piece started falling in her mind, fitting together like it belonged to the same puzzle.
Last time, her father did not even look at her when she left this place after breaking off all relations with the family.
Yet, his attitude changed suddenly after so long. He visited her, apologized to her and invited her.
Her parents even went as far as upsetting Esther just to have her here.
And suddenly, Ella remembered how her father had been dressed in a suit to receive Adrian when it was past midnight.
How could it be possible... unless he had been waiting for Adrian all along?
And then... her being tricked into leaving her room. Being pushed and locked into this storeroom.
It only meant one thing:
The one they had been scheming against was Adrian.
Ella’s stomach twisted and panic clawed at her chest as she looked at the locked door. Her gaze scanned through the room.
