CHAPTER 329: CHAPTER329-THE TEMPTATION OF FOOD

Daniel had not expected Kogmaw to drive him away so bluntly.

He frowned slightly, displeasure flashing across his face as he spoke.

"The Chaotic Hills don’t seem to belong to you, do they?"

At Daniel’s words, Kogmaw did not bother replying, and instead kept on devouring his delicious meal.

"The Chaotic Hills indeed aren’t mine. If you wish to remain here, then do as you please. But do not disturb me while I eat."

After saying this, Kogmaw ignored Daniel completely, continuing to feast.

At the same time, his attribute values kept steadily increasing.

Daniel frowned a little deeper, but he still asked a question.

"How long have you been eating here continuously?"

Yet Kogmaw did not respond at all.

He simply kept savoring the yak in front of him, treating Daniel’s words as though they were nothing but empty air.

For once, Daniel was not pressed for time.

He decided to use this cycle to properly interact with Kogmaw.

If there was some way to cooperate, or some benefit to be gained, then he would pursue it.

If not, then it would only mean wasting a single repetition—no great loss.

Still, Daniel figured that since he had met Kogmaw anyway, he might as well learn more about him.

After all, this was also a god’s devotee.

And one with an almost obsessive love for food.

After a brief consideration, Daniel used Flashback, returning to the northern borders of humanity.

His figure appeared in Winterhold Castle, inside the finest tavern in the region.

The tavern keeper blinked in surprise at Daniel’s sudden arrival.

Then he immediately hurried forward with flattering enthusiasm.

"Great Lord Daniel, is there anything you require? What kind of dish would you like? Simply name it, and our chefs will prepare it at once."

"I need to borrow your chefs and your ingredients."

Daniel could not be bothered with further pleasantries.

His figure flickered, and in the next instant he was already standing inside the kitchen.

Almost immediately, using the God of Thieves’ dagger, he copied every chef present.

Then, after leaving behind a heavy bag of gold coins, he gathered all the food supplies into his storage space.

When everything was done, Daniel’s figure disappeared in a flash.

The next moment, he reappeared back in the Chaotic Hills.

Nearly at the same time, he raised shields to envelop the fragile chefs, ensuring they would not be killed instantly by the harsh environment.

"Bring out your best skills and cook the most delicious dishes you can."

Daniel ordered calmly, before pouring out every bit of food from his storage.

On the other side, Kogmaw instantly sensed the presence of the food.

He turned his head toward Daniel and asked suspiciously.

"Human, what are you doing?"

"Nothing much. I just saw you eating yak for so long and thought you might be getting tired of it."

Daniel’s tone was casual.

After all, he intended to return through Time Stream anyway, so he cared little about appearances.

What mattered was testing whether Kogmaw could be swayed.

Besides, Daniel had a hunch that there was a special reason why Kogmaw had stayed in the Chaotic Hills.

Given the circumstances, it was clear he had been here for a very long time.

Which meant he was badly in need of new flavors.

"Do not try to tempt me with food. My will is strong, stronger than you can imagine."

Kogmaw forced a calm expression, as though he were maintaining his own persona.

But he had no idea that Daniel had already seen right through him.

His mind was entirely filled with longing for those new dishes.

Daniel could see it clearly—Kogmaw was nearly at his breaking point, barely resisting the urge to leap forward and gorge himself.

"I don’t think you need to reject me so stubbornly. I mean no harm. I just want to treat you to a meal."

"If you don’t believe me, I can leave now and let you have all of this food to yourself."

"With your strength, you should be able to tell these are just ordinary dishes, nothing more."

Kogmaw fell silent for a moment.

Though his desire for food was overwhelming, his control over his expression was excellent.

Not a flicker of greed showed on his face, and his tone remained as calm as ever.

"I have indeed stayed in the Chaotic Hills for quite some time. This is my first time meeting someone from the outside here."

"Perhaps chatting with you would not be so bad. I suppose I do need someone to talk to."

Hearing this, Daniel’s face broke into a warm, friendly smile.

"It’s clear to me that you’re a being with higher pursuits."

"By the way, let me introduce myself—I am the devotee of Infinity."

"Infinity? I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of that god."

"The god I once served was the God of Elements. But now I am no longer his devotee."

At this, Kogmaw paused for a moment.

Then he asked with surprise in his voice.

"Are you really here by coincidence?"

"As far as I know, entering the Chaotic Hills is no easy matter."

Daniel nodded and replied in an even tone.

"I really was just passing through. But the method of entry was told to me by someone called Moc."

"Moc??"

"It’s been ages since I last heard that name."

"Where is Moc now?"

Daniel thought for a moment before answering.

"I saw him in the Exile Plane."

At this, a complex look crossed Kogmaw’s face.

"So Moc really was exiled..."

Daniel nodded, confirming it.

Kogmaw’s eyes briefly flashed with killing intent as he asked another question.

"Do you know who it was that exiled him?"

Daniel shook his head.

But with Psychic Perception, he could sense much more beneath Kogmaw’s words.

There was indeed an unusual relationship between Kogmaw and Moc.

A moment later, Kogmaw regained his composure, looking back at Daniel with steady eyes.

"So then, did you come here intending to ask something of me?"

"Let me make it clear first—I will not go to the Exile Plane. I cannot escape it if I enter.

If Moc sent you here to ask for my help, then he chose the wrong person."

"But what I would like to know is this—how did you manage to get out of the Exile Plane yourself?"
