Chapter 44 -: 44, Life on Earth (Caspian)
CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER: 44, LIFE ON EARTH (CASPIAN)
In a modern room spanning a long hall, some much modern equipment was placed accordingly while many people used some of it for physical exercise.
A group of teenage girls in moderate gym clothes were taking a break after finishing their sets. They all sat on a nearby bench in a wide circle close to each other. A girl drank water from her bottle and handed it to another.
Her eyes were quickly attracted by the sight of someone familiar and she soon asked, "Hey, isn’t it Caspian?"
The other girls quickly followed her gaze and saw the young man in raven black hair sweating profusely as he ran on the treadmill at an unusually fast speed. After a few minutes he stopped after a full hour of running non-stop.
He picked a towel and wiped the sweat off from his well-built physique, making some of the girls blush. One of them quickly asked another, "Hey Celine. Weren’t you guys dating a while back? What happened? Why did you break up?"
Among them, a young woman with hazelnut hair wearing a tank top, her six packs were clearly visible as she looked at Caspian with growing fear.
"I-It’s nothing. We just didn’t feel the connection, that’s all." She made an excuse.
"C’mon, you were so excited to date him at the time, tell us the truth." Another asked.
Other girls also asked her to tell the truth of the matter. Celine looked uncomfortable but eventually began to say.
"I-It was creepy being around him. He always looked at me like he could see right through me."
"Creepy? Like how?" one girl asked
"L-Like when someone knows everything you want. Everything I ever look at, he can directly tell which one I like and which I don’t."
"Isn’t that a good thing for him to care about your preference?" another said in confusion.
"It is, only when you don’t count the look of superiority that is etched into his eyes. It was as if he was doing me a favor by every action. Every date, hangouts and other basic things always felt like I was wasting his time.
"Not only that, he was into anime and martial arts." She added as if it was something important.
"So what? Most of the boys nowadays are into anime and other supernatural things." A girl scoffed.
"It is. But he wasn’t focused on the story. He was focused on supernatural things, almost to the point of obsession. After every movie and episode, he creates a detailed diary on how to get those supernatural powers.
When I visited his home, I saw the diary. It was filled with detailed things, and the worst part, all of those had experiments that he conducted on animals and some on himself. He had noted and created an elaborate guide with every effect of each organ of an animal.
One of the rooms was filled with jars containing distorted organs, eyes and bones from many animals that definitely wasn’t normal in any way."
The girls gulped hard after hearing this. "M-Maybe planned on being a doctor and was preparing himself?" One girl tried to come up with an excuse to lift the awkwardness.
Celine shivered, clutching both of her shoulders and said the last thing, "H-He also had experimental notes on Human Organs... and there was information about the person he got those from... with no transaction papers whatsoever..."
The scene turned silent and a sudden cold wind touched their neck. They shivered even imagining the situation of dating a person like that.
"Uh... I have to go... Let’s meet again later" one of them quickly excused herself and left the gym.
"Me too. See you later." One by one, everyone left the gym, all with excuses that faintly made sense.
At the end, there was only Celine and one other girl sitting alone on the now empty bench.

Outside the Gym, Caspian was walking towards his home. After all, today was their field trip and he was forced to go because of his mom. To finally go out and make friends and not stay home doing those weird experiments.
She was pretty happy to see that he was finally in a relationship, but her happiness didn’t last more than a few months, when Celine found out his experimental diary. The diary filled with his dreams, the dream of achieving something no one ever could imagine.
The breakup didn’t affect him much, but it did affect his mother. She was afraid that he would be all alone, again. She doesn’t seem to understand that that was what he wanted, to be left alone. Once he succeeds, he won’t need anyone to be by his side.
The organs and other internal body parts were obtained through legal means that he paid with his own money earning through online gigs.
He wanted to research which organs can hold which amount of energy without damaging the other body functions. He tried every type of energy available on earth, which as a result caused mutation on some organs.
But the good news was that those particular organs successfully formed a harmony with the energy. It gave him hope, the hope his efforts are not futile.
He also tried to mutate one of his body parts and he started with his hands, which failed and caused a reaction that left a permanent scar.
But it was worth it. He felt something, a small sense of control over that faint energy inside the clear quartz he put inside his hand. The sensation was faint but real.
He knew then, his dream would come true. He was pretty close to doing the last set of experiments today, but had to postpone it for after the field trip.
He stood in front of a TV store and looked at the martial artists using supernatural abilities. He gazed intently and muttered under his breath, "Soon, it will become reality. And for that I don’t need anyone. I can and will become strong enough to only need myself."
