CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER: 48, 30 BLESSED STUDENTS (PART_1)
"Nightblade Jack and Spellblade Hannah, please step forward." Saintess Lily said.
Jack and Hannah both stepped into the arena holding both of their swords. Their class and skills had the same origin. With the difference being Jack’s class was mostly based on shadow and stealth swordsmanship while Hannah’s swordsmanship added elemental spells into it.
Their battle was mostly pure sword fighting with very little spell and mana used. Their swords clashed with each other as metal sounds rang out through the crowd.
Elemental and Shadow wrapped around their blades and clashed with each other. Jack dodged the additional spell thrown at him by Hannah while countering her sword. He then materialized a shadow thorn under her feet, which she avoided briefly and countered with another elemental spell.
Their fight was intense as their blades collided. Their abilities were minimal as their levels weren’t high, only level 6 after a week of hunting as both of them mostly focused on their techniques before they fully focused on leveling up.
Both of them had fought once as a spar and it was the perfect moment for them to test their skills on who has progressed more. Which is exactly why they only use mana based attacks very few times and mainly fought with the sword.
But as they both exhausted their stamina, their reactions became sloppy and it came to become obvious who would win.
With a final counter, Jack placed his sword right on Hannah’s neck, marking his victory as he took deep breaths. Hannah also smiled and took deep breaths as they went back to the audience to rest.
Saintess Lily announced Jack’s victory and went ahead to pick the next two names. "Graviton Abigail and Marksman Julia, Please step forward." She announced.
Dainsleif, hearing their names, winced. They were the worst fighting duo to go against each other, mostly bad for Julia.
As the name suggests, Abigail’s class is mostly based on Gravitation with her class being of A-rank. She can cause close range gravitational changes. She can only increase or decrease the gravitational force as she was still only level 7. But even these skills would be difficult for Julia to handle.
Julia’s class, Marksman (A-rank) was indeed a bit weak compared to Abigail but was still the most fitting class for her as she was trained by her professional bow user father and marksmen mother. Because of her genetics, she has also awakened the ’Eagle Eye’ attribute and her initial acceptance of her class was smooth.
She can use both Bow and Guns because of her training, but a pity there aren’t any guns in this world. Which Dainsleif found unusual as he witnessed how advanced this world is in his previous life. They had much more advanced technologies but no guns, it was quite iconic but it wasn’t like this world needed guns to be violent, magic and weapons are already violent enough, addition of guns would only extend it to the normal civilians, which Dain didn’t want to witness.
Julia and Abigail stood face to face, with their weapons. Abigail was currently using a sword as there wasn’t any heavy weapon like Warhammer or something like that available in the facility. But she would change it pretty quickly.
Julia stood there holding a single bow and nothing else. She didn’t need to carry her arrows as her innate skills also included ’Mana Arrows’ that can be created instantly as long she has ample mana. She was already level 9, so her mana capacity was obviously higher than Abigail.
As the battle began, Abigail rushed towards Julia while Julia shot an arrow at her while she was moving. Abigail barely avoided the arrow because of the low gravitational pressure around her, which made the arrow change direction at the end.
Julia looked taken aback but still composed herself and attacked again this time predicting the change of pressure and aiming the arrow a bit downwards. She let go of the arrow but it still missed despite her calculating the change.
The arrow this time directly landed right in front of Abigail’s shoes. This time she increased the gravitational pressure and widened the AOE, which resulted in the arrow getting heavy and losing its pace.
The arrow banished as soon it landed on the ground and Abigail began to move towards Julia with careful steps. She could avoid the arrows this way, but if she moved carelessly, she could still get hit by her arrow.
Because of her formal training, Julia’s bow drawing strength was exceptional and even the Gravitational pressure wouldn’t affect it if the target was close enough or the arrow was fast enough.
Abigail decreased her own gravitational pressure a little; making her feel light and her speed increased that made it easy for her to dodge the arrows. As Abigail came close to her, Julia began to feel the gravitational pressure of Abigail’s AOE skill.
Her hands shook from the pressure, disrupting her focus a little. Indeed, her arm strength was exceptional because of the bow training she did with her father, but even that didn’t make her ready to endure the gravitational pressure.
She quickly decides to distance herself and throws an arrow at Abigail for an attack. The arrow had become heavy but she had put much more strength at throwing this one arrow. And as a result, this caught Abigail off guard.
She tried to avoid it but couldn’t, and as a result, the arrow struck her abdomen with much force. Blood gushed out as the arrow slowly dissipated into the air leaving only a single bleeding hole.
Abigail knelt down, the pain spreading through her body as she was unable to continue fighting. Healers quickly entered the arena and casted healing spells. The wound on Abigail’s abdomen eventually closed, but the pain still needed time to go away.
Julia stood at a place, confused. She didn’t expect the arrow to hit as she was only trying to slow Abigail down. As realization of her Victory hit her, she smiled. She did apologize to Abigail as it wasn’t her intention to hurt her badly.
Abigail accepted the apology as this was common in battles. They both went back to their seats and Saintess Lily announced Julia’s victory. She then picked the next two names and announced...
