CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER: 49, 30 BLESSED STUDENTS (PART_2)
"Bloodmage Isla and Totembinder Kevin, please step forward."
Kevin and Isla both stepped forward. Kevin held a bag full of carved dolls that according to his class worked as catalysts for performing various spells. His Class was of A-rank with a slight resemblance to Isaac’s Enchanter class.
But instead of weapons and items, Kevin needed to carved wooden dolls and carved strange patterns on them, after which, he can perform mystical arts like thunder summoning, flaming battle doll, wooden swordsman and other various things.
Currently, Kevin wasn’t proficient enough and lacked sufficient mana to maintain a battle doll, so he was using spell dolls that can only cast one type of spell per totem. Activating the spell carved on the totem did require an ample amount of mana but it was still manageable to him as his mana of level 4, where he spend all the additional stat points on his mana, his mana capacity was much higher that even Isla’s level 8 mana.
Isla was holding some water pouches on the waist of her armor, filled with blood of monsters that she hunted on her own. Collecting these bloods did cause her some trouble at the beginning, but after she got her first batch of blood, her collection became pretty smooth.
Her B-rank class, Bloodmage, required her to have blood, or it would drain her own blood that would cause her to feel sick and weakened, which she definitely didn’t want. Her ’Blood Art’ skill didn’t really require that much mana, so she used most of her attributes on strength and agility while spending very little on mana.
Isla also held a scarlet glass crystal on her right hand, looking pretty confident. She had been a fan of vampires from a very little age, which made her practice imagining fighting using blood as an art that she saw on various martial arts TV shows.
And due to that, her proficiency in Blood art was somehow pretty smooth as everything pretty much matched her previous imagination.
The referee whistled and both of them quickly began to make their move. Kevin threw his totems and scattered them around the arena as fast as he could, making sure he covered most of the area around the arena.
Isla on the other hand, used her blood arts and the blood from her pouch flew out in a fluid motion following her hand moves with complete control.
Isla covered her hands with the blood and made the blood harden into the shape of a big claw that had the sharpness of a blade. She had mostly spent her points on physical stats and she also preferred hand to hand combat much more than magic combat, so she was using the blood to materialise claws that she could use.
She rushed forward at a pretty fast speed, while Kevin activated any totems on her way, calculating her speed and casting at the moment Isla might get hit.
But Isla was still too fast for him. She outpaced every totem and closed into Kevin. Kevin was completely vulnerable as he had scattered all of his totems around the arena and he currently didn’t have any on him.
Isla quickly pointed her blood claws in front of Kevin’s face, he had thought he would be fast enough and might get an easy win, but his overconfidence became the very reason he lost. He admitted his defeat and began to collect back his totems.
After getting his totems back, he and Isla both went back to the Audience.
Saintess lily announced Isla’s victory and called the next two contenders. "Berserker Duron and Echo Knight Elijah, please step forward!"
Duron and Elijah both stepped forward. Duron was holding a greatsword while Elijah was holding a basic blade.
Both of their fights began, Duron rushed ahead without any delay. His level 9 capabilities were clearly visible as both of their swords collided. Elijah was only on level 5 as his class required him to commit more time on proficiency improvement than level improvement.
Elijah was sent flying a bit far while Duron was preparing for the next attack. When, something strange happened.
In front of his eyes, Elijah’s figure fragmented and eventually turned into another Elijah. Then both of the Elijah launched their attacks at Duron at the same time.
Duron was confused and taken aback. He had not really expected Elijah to have this kind of skill. After all, Elijah was introverted and socially awkward. If he didn’t say anything, nobody could really know about him.
Duron quickly composed himself and without any hesitation, attacked one of the two Elijah. But his attack passed right through Elijah and the attacked Elijah disappeared. Duron stood confused for a second before finally realizing that it was all just an illusion.
He looked at the other Elijah, expected Elijah to stand alone, but there were still two Elijah standing side by side.
And that’s how Elijah’s class functioned. His B-rank class could create a secondary echo of himself that he had full control over. Even though he could only control only one Echo for now due to his lack of required stats. But despite that, he was still able to control and summon another echo the moment the first one was destroyed.
And his echoes can be kept visible as long it isn’t destroyed after he creates one. This can be a plus point. Still, it wasn’t enough for him to defeat Duron of all people.
As soon as Duron understood Elijah can only create one illusion at a time, he quickly sped up and got close to him. Just as mentioned Elijah’s speed wasn’t a match for Duron that made both him and his echo stand there with shocked expressions.
Duron used the side of his great sword and slammed both Elijah and his echo. Elijah was thrown out of the arena as Duron grasped his rightful victory.
Saintess Lily announced this and moved onto calling the next two candidates.
