CHAPTER 117: JEALOUS

Leila keeps a composed face on the outside, but she is still feeling the effects of what Adam did to her.

But even her composed expression flatters when her eyes meet Adam’s. She blushes and slowly approaches Adam before standing next to him.

She feels shy but also wants to stay close to him.

Adam doesn’t say anything; he smiles and waits for the customer’s arrival.

Soon, more people start walking in through the door, some are here for their morning coffee, while some just want a quick breakfast.

Adam and Leila get to work.

A few minutes later, Cassie also graces the restaurant with her presence. She acts as clumsily as ever and quickly changes into her uniform to join Adam and Leila.

With her joining, it became much easier with three people handling the front of the house.

As they worked through the clock, Cassie noticed something. She might pretend to be this clumsy, easy-going, living-in-the-moment girl, but she is very observant of her surroundings.

A habit she developed to make sure that she doesn’t get caught lacking by people who are looking at her.

She knows that being a good-looking girl will always make her the center of attention, and when all the attention is on her, she cannot afford to take off her mask.

Because of her great observational skills, Cassie picked up something she didn’t think was a problem.

She saw how close Adam and Leila were being. They always looked close before, as Adam always liked to tease Leila and get a reaction out of her, but Cassie noticed that something had changed between them.

They say Leila looks at Adam, and the way she hovers around him, making eye contact with him, smiling at him, while staring at him.

Adam, too, seems way more touchy with her, and Leila doesn’t seem to mind it.

She even saw Adam grab Leila by her ass, to which she only blushed and walked away.

Cassie immediately knew that Adam and Leila fucked. This made her jealous.

She has been actively trying to get Adam’s attention, but he goes and fucks Leila? It didn’t make sense to her.

Cassie clearly feels she is much more attractive than Leila, so for Adam to fuck Leila before her upsets her. She doesn’t care if Adam fucked Leila; she just wanted it to be her first.

Cassie is very competitive, even though she doesn’t look like it. So knowing that Adam chose Leila over her is bugging her a lot more than she expected.

She continues to give Adam and Leila the stinky eye every time she catches them flirting or getting touchy with each other, but then her face immediately contorts back to her usual cheerful one whenever Adam looks at her.

While Cassie might think that Adam hasn’t noticed her behavior, he definitely did. How could he not notice her burning gaze? Everything he was close to Leila.

He could feel the jealousy in the air, which Adam didn’t expect.

Cassie has always been trying to get his attention, but after he found out about her truth, he realized that he likes to play with the hearts of men. He didn’t expect a woman like her to feel jealous over him being closer to another woman.

’Hypocryt,’ Adam thinks.

He continues to serve the people walking into the restaurant, most of whom have become regulars, especially women, as they can’t help but crush over Adam and his handsome face and charming demeanor.

As the morning shift is about to come to an end, Adam decides to give Ellie a visit.

He didn’t bother going to her after getting caught by her. With how she reacted to her own accident, Adam doesn’t expect her to handle this any better.

Adam walks into the kitchen and sees Ellie and some of the chefs taking a break. With the service slowing down, they don’t have to run around the kitchen as frantically as they usually do.

Ellie, who is talking to her sous chef, sees Adam walk in and stops mid-sentence.

Her mind immediately goes back to what happened this morning. She had managed to put those thoughts aside as she got busy with her work, but now that Adam is here once again during the calm hours, she can’t help but remember what he was doing to Leila.

"Boss, I need to talk to you," Adam says.

"Umm... Can we talk... later? I am busy..." Ellie says, clearly trying to avoid talking about it.

"It’s not about that... Don’t worry," Adam says.

Ellie looks at Adam and then at her sous chef. "We will continue this later," she says with the sous chef and approaches Adam.

"Let’s talk outside," Ellie says, signaling Adam to follow her to the back.

Adam shrugs his shoulders and follows her to the back alley of the restaurant.

Now alone in the back alley, Ellie looks very nervous; she moves around frantically as if she just did something illegal.

"Okay, out with it..." Ellie says.

"Well... I wanted to tell you that... I won’t be able to be here for the evening service. I have an important meeting I need to attend to with one of my dad’s business clients," Adam says, making sure to add in some detail to make it sound more important than his work here.

"Huh....?" Ellie sounds confused.

"What?" Adam asks, hearing her sound confused.

"I thought... You were... You know... Want to talk about what happened?" Ellie says.

"Didn’t I say it was not about that... But if you wanna talk, then we can," Adam says.

"Wait! No! Let’s not... Forget it ever happened..." Ellie says.

"Well, if you say so... But I would say this makes it truly even between us, don’t you think?" Adam asks.

Ellie meets Adam’s eyes and blushes.

"You can go now..." she says.

Adam smiles. He gives her a salute and leaves.

He walks back in and finds Leila serving her supposed last server of the afternoon.

"Hey, I am leaving, I won’t be back," Adam says to Leila.

"Oh... Well, have a nice day," Leila says. Adam smirks. He puts his hand around her waist, pulls her in, and gives her a light kiss, startling her.

He pulls away, gives her a wink before turning his head to look at Cassie, who is just a few meters away from them.

Their eyes meet, and Adam smiles at Cassie, who, too, is stunned by Adam’s blatant action.

Adam leaves. Letting chaos brew inside Cassie.

He wonders how she will react now that he has made his actions clear to her. Will she get more jealous, or will she back off now that Adam has made his relationship with Leila public?

He wants to see how twisted Cassie’s morals her. They are already fucked, as she clearly wants to fuck other people outside her relationship, but will she try to fuck others who are in a relationship as well?

From what he has seen, he is not certain. Someone else she could have fucked would be Ellie’s boyfriend, but he doesn’t look like someone Cassie would be interested in.

If he were more handsome-looking, then maybe.

Why is Adam doing this? Just for fun. Now that he knows Cassie is hiding behind a mask, he wants to see the real her.

Being one of the few people who know her real personality is another form of control that Adam seeks.

Control, as always, will be the driving force behind Adam’s every action.

Adam changes into his casual clothes and leaves the restaurant. Getting in his car, he drives to his gym.

Today is the day he starts getting serious with a part of his life.

Now that he has decided to pursue a career in MMA, he is going to make sure he dominates it.

What’s the point of having the body he has if not to abuse it to become the best at whatever field he wants?

Maybe while he is on a path to conquer MMA, he could conquer other things as well.

Arriving at his gym, he parks his car at his usual spot and walks in.

The gym is not as busy as it was on the weekend. Only a few seem to be working on bags.

Adam looks around and sees Lamai. He waves at her with a smile before entering the locker room to change into his gym clothes.

Once he is out of the locker room, he finds Lamai waiting for him right outside. She looks very eager. As if waiting for something.

"So?" She asks.

"What?" Adam questions.

"Have you given it some thought? Going professional?" Lamai asks.

"Hmm.... What do you think?" Adam asks with a smile on his face.

He finds it amusing that Lamai seems to be more worried about the possibility of him going professional than he himself.

"Come on, just out with it already!" Lamai says.

"Why? Don’t you want to be my coach anymore? No matter how good your dad is, I would rather have you~" Adam says in a flirtatious tone.

Lamai blushes seeing Adam blatantly flirt with her, but she quickly puts it aside. She is not just some soft-hearted girl who is going to fall for his charms, or at least that is what she believes.

"Ugh! Out with it already! I am not going to ask you again," she says, frustrated.

"Okay, fine, fine. I have made my decision," Adam says.

"And... What is it?" Lamai asks.

"I have decided to go pro," Adam says, smiling.

As soon as these words come out of his mouth, Lamai immediately jumps in excitement.

"FUCKING YES!!!" She yells. Unable to contain her excitement, she even hugs Adam.
