CHAPTER 192: ENAMORED

Adam was impressed by how Sherly could keep a straight face, smiling innocently as if she didn’t just get her back blown by her husband while roleplaying a self-deprecating cuck fantasy.

As for Zydan, the man is stone-faced. He always has that serious look on his face that comes off as intimidating, no matter the situation he is in.

If Adam had not heard or seen their act with his own ears and eyes, he could never have believed that these two were freaks when it comes to sex. Adam would have still lived in his delusion of these two being a normal, happy couple in love.

This also made Adam question whether what he heard in that washroom was real or not. Did Sherly really marry Zydan to exploit him? Or it is just another one of those humiliation kinks that Zydan seems to have.

From what Adam sees from the outside, they look like two people in love, or they might just be that good at hiding it.

’I don’t want to think about this anymore,’ Adam thinks and decides to focus on the band who are about to take the stage.

Four people walk onto the stage, and the crowd immediately starts going loud for them.

Adam is surprised by how loud the people are getting. He looks back and sees a huge crowd; there are at least a thousand people here, all here to see this band perform.

Adam looks at the members again: two girls, two guys. The lead vocalist is a girl with long black hair and is very beautiful. The other girl is a bass player with a short pixie hairstyle and isn’t bad-looking either.

The two guys play the guitar and drums respectively.

Adam guesses that most of the male fans who are here are because of the two beautiful girls in the band. Of course, he could be wrong, as he hasn’t heard them play yet.

But until he does, he is going to stick with his guess.

The band on stage is not a huge band who have millions of listeners all over the world, but they do have a cult like following in the indie scene. Hence, the thousands of people who are here to hear them perform.

In a city of forty million, a thousand is nothing, but it’s still a huge crowd.

Adam waits with patients as he watches the band make some adjustments to their instruments while the crowd slowly calms into a silence of anticipation.

It’s quite an experience watching silence take over amongst thousands of people as they wait for the band to start playing.

Adam perks his ear up, ready to listen. Now that he knows his ears are perfectly tuned for music, he wants to see how good you have to be to be one of the most reputable bands in the indie scene.

The song begins. The instruments follow one another, falling in place to create a melody. The crowd immediately erupts as they recognize the song that’s about to be played.

The lead vocalist finally adds her voice to the instrument and starts singing. She starts soft with control and a breathy tone.

Adam is impressed. The lead sounds amazing, and the instruments perfectly harmonize with her voice. Adam can tell the effort and hours of practice that must have gone into this to make it sound the way it sounds.

And even though Adam knows how hard this should be, he knows that it would only take him a few takes to perfect it if he knew how to play the guitar, or the bass, or the drums, or maybe even the singing part.

If everything about his body is enhanced. His voice shouldn’t be any different either. He has noticed that his tone and voice inflections sound so much clearer than they used to.

Of course, he would have to practice singing to really know how good he really is.

The song starts getting more intense as the band puts much more energy into their performance, and they get a similar response from the crowd as they try to sing along with them.

Adam zones in on the music, trying to see how much of it he can pick up with his ears. He manages to completely drown out the background screaming noise of the people and only focuses on the band and their music.

The sound becomes clearer to him, every note from every instrument, even the way the lead vocalist’s vocal cords are moving to make the sound she is making. Adam picks it all up.

His enhanced ears easily pick up all the rough parts of their performance, but this is to be expected. They are singing before a live audience; there is no studio to help them fix their mistakes, but Adam also catches parts of brilliance in their performance, which the studio also can’t replicate.

As the first song ends, it puts a smile on Adam’s face. ’I like this band,’ Adam thinks.

Even though it didn’t give him the chills like he felt when listening to that piano teacher’s performance, the band before him is still very good.

A few more years of making music, and they might become even better, or they will fall apart like most music bands, never to reach their peak.

Now that Adam is interested in music as one of his hobbies, he wants to see how far this band will go.

They soon start playing their next song, earning another loud cheer from the crowd. Unlike the first song, this one is soft and slow, but it’s much more composed and refined, and held back. There is no intensity behind it like the last one, but from the reaction of the crowd, Adam can tell this is a fan favorite.

And Adam agrees with them, he also likes this one so much better, as it relies on the simplicity of the music, while the lead vocalist puts on a great display of control. The more Adam listens to her, the more he begins to like her.

After the second song, they take a five-minute break, talking to people in the crowd and trying to hype them up for the rest of the night.

Adam watches as the lead vocalist takes charge of the stage, fully embracing the limelight. Seeing this, Adam realizes why the people here are so enamored by this band.

The lead vocalist is a ball of light, shining with charisma that attracts people towards her. Adam turns his head to look at Lana and sees her jumping up and down, screaming for the lead vocalist’s attention.

She doesn’t look like someone who just went through a breakup a few hours ago. ’Well, I am glad,’ He thinks and brings his attention back to the stage. That is when he makes eye contact with her.

The lead vocalist is having a great time interacting with her fans, as she pans across the crowd, her gaze locks with a man standing at the very front.

She immediately feels the whole world go silent as his piercing gaze locks onto hers. Her heart skips a beat. She looks at his face. He is one of the most handsome men she has ever seen, and the aura around him is just so different.

Even when he is surrounded by people of all shapes, sizes, and colors, wearing vibrant and flashy clothing, he stands out with his simple white shirt, black jacket, and normal pants.

There is something about him that makes him exceptional even among thousands of people.

The vocalist loses herself for a second before finally coming back to her senses as the yelling and screaming of the crowd hits her ears again.

She immediately composes herself and continues talking to the crowd before starting with their next song.

Adam didn’t think much of the short eye contact he had with her, as he had such eye contact with many women throughout the city.

But as the concert continues and the band continues to sing one song after the other, Adam notices that the lead vocalist keeps looking at him every chance she gets.

Adam, of course, has no problem with the attention he is getting.

"Hey, doesn’t Isla Verne seem to keep looking in my direction? Do you think she is enamored by my good looks?" Crill speaks into Adam’s ears, getting his attention.

Adam turns to look at Crill and nods his head. "I think she is, you are a lucky man," Adam says.

Even though he knows for a fact that the lead vocalist is not looking at Crill, but at Adam. Adam doesn’t burst Crill’s bubble. He lets the guy be happy with his own head fantasies.

And because of Crill, Adam also got to know the name of the girl who can’t stop looking at him. Isla Verne. In fact, Adam only got to know the name of the band when he walked around the park, taking in the view. Velvet Arcadia.

The band stayed on the stage for another hour and finished the concert with their most popular song, which the crowd ate up.

Isla then bid the crowd goodbye, calling an end to the concert.

"That was amazing, I can’t wait to listen to them live, once again," Sherly says excitedly as Crill matches her enthusiasm. Zydan, on the other hand, just nods his head. This is the best reaction he has given all night.

Looks like the guy only likes to talk when he is getting freaky with his wife, because he talked a lot in that toilet cabinet.

Since the concert is over, it’s time for Adam to find Lana and head back home, when suddenly, "Excuse me, sir," He feels a tap on his shoulder.
