Regression - Second Chance At Life
Chapter 86: Guns
CHAPTER 86: GUNS
After his lunch with Leila, Adam went to train in his gym.
Just like yesterday, his sparing partner was Connor, who still held an advantage over Adam, but the more they trained, the harder it got for Connor to submit Adam.
His improvements were rapid and instant. Connor realized that it won’t be long before Adam reaches a point where it would become almost impossible to submit him.
Connor already starts fearing what kind of monster Adam will turn into once he really starts his training. Mind you, he is still learning the very basics of wrestling defense. He still needs to learn how to be offensive when it comes to wrestling, and there is also the striking aspect of MMA that Adam still has to learn.
But even without those basics in his arsenal, Adam’s physical strength, endurance, and stamina are proving to be incredibly annoying, even to someone at Connor’s level.
After two hours of training, Adam makes his way out of the gym and starts planning his future. With millions in his bank account, it’s time to start investing it in companies he knows will be successful in the future.
Other than money, Adam also wonders what else he should do with his life. After these few days of training, Adam already realized that physically he is a monster, and he can easily have a career at the highest level in MMA, become a world champion, make hundreds of millions of dollars, gain fame and fortune that his father Jack could only dream of. Adam was not against this idea.
But before he goes full MMA mode, he wants to explore other options. See what else he is capable of doing, maybe even resume his academic studies as he feels sharper in his head as well. He has, of course, not tried studying because in the past he never found it interesting, but this time things might be different.
Adam also wants to get into hobbies, arts, music, and other things. Become more cultured. Become more knowledgeable about things that happen around the world.
He doesn’t want to waste his potential.
As he drives through the streets back to his workplace, he sees a billboard for a new movie about to be released. He wouldn’t have bothered looking at it if not for the hot female protagonist in short clothes holding a big ass shotgun in her hand, looking extremely cool while there are monsters that look like zombies behind her.
It’s an action/horror/fantasy movie about a genetically enhanced girl fighting her way through monsters to put an end to them and save humanity. A very basic plot for the type of movie it is, but another reason Adam became interested in the poster is because of the girl’s physiology.
Adam, of course, finds the actress playing the protagonist extremely attractive. Valentina Rosie was given the title of the most beautiful woman five times in a row by one of the most popular magazines. Sure, everyone has a preference, and some might not agree with this claim, but no one could deny that Valentina Rosie was beautiful. But again, it’s not her beauty that caught Adam’s attention.
Adam could somewhat relate to the female protagonist. While she is genetically enhanced, he, too, is magically enhanced. Just like her, he is a freak of nature, but even after being a freak of nature, she needs guns. This made Adam wonder, if certain circumstances arise, will he be able to defend himself if someone is pointing a gun at him?
Maybe he can dodge a few bullets by predicting them before the trigger is pulled, but what about the shots that follow? Adam might be a freak, but he doesn’t think his body can withstand a bullet.
"Gun... I should get a gun..." Adam thinks.
Adam is eighteen years old, so he is of legal age to own a gun, and even to conceal carry it with a license.
’I have some free time, let’s check it out,’ Adam thinks and searches for a gun store on the GPS. He finds one close by and drives there.
Arriving before the gun store, Adam sees a parking lot filled with a bunch of bikes, seven guys, and three girls hanging around outside the store. ’A biker gang,’ Adam thinks as he sees all of them wearing black clothes with a stitched eagle emblem embedded on their leather jackets. Most of them are all tattooed up, looking very intimidating. No wonder there doesn’t seem to be anyone else around; clearly intimidated by them.
But Adam doesn’t care. He is here to buy a gun. Not mess around with a biker gang.
His car immediately becomes the topic of interest of the biker gang as they watch the car roll in. Adam parks his car in one of the empty spots and gets out. As soon as he does, one of the girls in the biker gang whistles at him, clearly finding Adam extremely handsome.
She is not the only one who thinks so; the other two girls also think the same, but they are not as blatant as the first girl.
Hearing her whistle, Adam turns his head to look at her. The girl has short, black, shoulder-length hair. Big, beautiful eyes. Big breasts, a chiseled midsection, a big, round ass, and thick thighs indicate she works out and likes to stay fit.
She is also completely tattooed up. Adam can see tattoos on her exploded cleavage going all the way up to her neck. He also sees lines coming up from her pants, meaning she probably has her entire hip tattooed. Adam finds her extremely hot, but he isn’t going to be an idiot and approach her when the biker gang’s men around her are giving him an annoyed glare.
Adam might be a freak, but he isn’t going to get into a fight for a chick he doesn’t know.
Instead, he just smiles at the girl and walks into the gun store. He didn’t notice it, but the biker girl blushed a little, completely charmed by Adam’s smile.
Adam enters the gun store and his nose is immediately hit by the smell of gun powder. He looks around and sees guns everywhere. Handguns, Revolvers, Submachine guns, Snipers. Name a gun and you will find one here.
For once, Adam is overwhelmed. In his previous life, he was never interested in such things, but now that he finds himself inside a gun store, he can’t help but imagine collecting some of these. He begins to realize why some guys are obsessed with collecting these, even though they barely use any of them their entire life.
Adam realizes that he might build a gun-collecting habit if he starts frequenting this place.
Putting the thought aside, Adam walks up to the man behind the counter to inquire about the guns.
The man looks to be in his 60s, with white hair, a white beard, wrinkly skin, and rough, veiny hands. He looks up as he sees Adam approach him.
"First time?" he asks as Adam gets close.
Adam nods his head.
"How old are you?" He asks.
"Eighteen," Adam says.
"ID," He asks.
Adam takes out his ID and gives it to the man. He takes Adam’s ID and gives Adam a few glances. He then runs Adam’s ID through his system to check if the ID is real or fake. Once it comes out as real, he hands Adam’s ID back to him.
"You are making an excellent choice to buy a gun," the man says, staring at Adam.
"Oh, why is that?" Adam asks.
"After woman and children, a good-looking chap like you is most probably most likely to get ra*ed. So it’s a very intelligent choice to own a gun. You never know when someone might come up to you and force you into a situation you don’t want to find yourself in.
Guys, don’t talk about it, but it happens a lot. It’s just that guys who are victims never talk about it because they are too ashamed to admit it.
So it’s better to pop someone in the head than ever finding yourself in such a situation," the old man says.
Adam stares at the man with his mouth open. He didn’t need to know that. The man didn’t need to say that. He didn’t need to put that thought in Adam’s head.
"Uh... well... thanks for the warning..." Adam says awkwardly. Of course, Adam would never be a victim of such a thing, but he also knows that what the man said is true.
"Hahaha, just making sure young guys like you are safe out there," he says.
"Of course, so... can you recommend something?" Adam asks. He doesn’t want to continue this conversation and make it even weirder than it is. Why in the hell would you even start a conversation like that?
"What are you looking for?" the man asks.
"Something I can carry around everywhere, something versatile," Adam says.
"Hmm, let’s see," the man says and starts taking out a few guns for Adam to check out.
Since Adam said something he can carry around, all the guns the man takes out are handguns and small revolvers, all of which are slightly different from each other.
The man presents Adam with five options.
When Adam looks at them, he notices the little design changes, but all in all, they all look the same. As someone who is a complete noob, he has no idea which is good and which is not.
The revolvers look cool, but Adam is not interested in them. It’s better to carry a handgun, as they are much more versatile.
"Want to give them a go?" the man asks.
Adam nods his head.
"Good, follow me to the shooting range," The man says, carrying the guns with him and guiding Adam through the back door as they enter the gun range.
