Regression - Second Chance At Life
Chapter 87: Being Followed
CHAPTER 87: BEING FOLLOWED
Adam follows the store owner inside the gun range and is immediately greeted by loud banging sounds.
A few people are already in the gun range, shooting at targets.
They all seem to be lost in their own world with ear covers and glasses on as they blast at the target one after the other.
Adam observes these people and then looks at their targets. Their targets have bullet holes all over the place, but this is normal, as not everyone is a marksman; it comes with practice.
"Here, hold this," the store owner says, passing a compact-looking handgun to Adam. "This is a Falcon 22R, 9mm, extremely accurate, very low recoil, very beginner-friendly."
Adam nods and grabs the gun. It feels extremely lightweight, but Adam is still unsure about how it feels in his hand.
"Put these on and give it a go," the store owner says, handing over the ear muffs and protection goggles to Adam.
Adam wears them, grabs the gun with both his hands, lines the gun’s front sight and end sight with the target’s head, and shoots.
Adam feels nothing as he shoots the gun. He hears the muffled bang of the gun, it can still be heard, but not loud enough to damage someone’s ear.
Across the gun range, a hole appears right in the middle of the target’s head. ’That was easy,’ Adam thinks. It’s as if he body worked on its own to position his arm in such a way that he would hit what he is looking at.
Pure instinct.
The store owner grabbed the binoculars next to him and was surprised when he saw Adam hit the target bank on the red dot. Even professionals rarely hit the red dot from this distance.
Since Adam was just testing the gun, the store owner didn’t bother bringing the target closer; he just didn’t expect a complete noob to nail the target on his very first try.
’Probably got lucky,’ He thought and watched as Adam shot again. This time, the bullet hit right above the red dot, just an inch away from the previous shot.
Then Adam shot again, this time an inch lower than the first shot. He then shot a few more times and made a straight line from the target’s forehead to its chin.
By now, the gun store owner is completely bewildered, and this level of accuracy is unheard of. How can someone be so accurate that they create a straight line with a gun from such a distance?
"Kid, is this really your first time holding a gun?" He couldn’t help but ask.
"Ya, never touched one before," Adam says, and for some reason, the gun store owner believes him because the way Adam is holding the gun is how a complete noob would hold it and suffers from recoil because of it.
But even with Adam’s bad technique, he managed to nail the target over and over again.
’Just how strong and stable is this kid’s hand?’ the store owner thinks.
"What about the next one? This doesn’t feel right in my hand," Adam says, handing the gun back to the store owner.
The owner nods and gives Adam the next gun. "This is the Golden Eagle. .50AE caliber. Extremely powerful, amazing stopping power. You can bring down a bear with just one shot, but of course, because of its size, the accuracy is much lower, and the recoil is strong," the store owner explains.
Adam nods and takes the gun in hand. It is much more stocky and chunky than the previous gun, but it feels great in his hand. He also likes how it looks.
He lines the gun’s front sight, back sight, and the target’s midsection, and shoots. This time, he can feel the recoil of the gun as it also makes a very loud sound. Because of the power and recoil of the gun, the gun’s muzzle shifts a little, and Adam misses his target by four inches.
"Not like that, try holding the gun like this." Realizing he still hasn’t told Adam how to hold the gun properly, the store owner gives a quick demonstration. Adam immediately fixes his posture and lines the gun to the target once again and shoots.
This time, he feels much less of a recoil as his hand is firm and his muscles easily suppress the overwhelming power of the gun. As for the bullet, it tears right through the middle of the target’s red spot.
The store owner is once again shocked by seeing Adam nail the target, but just as he thinks it was a fluke again, Adam goes on to nail the target over and over again, making a horizontal line across the target’s midsection.
’This kid’s a natural shooter,’ the owner thinks.
He then hands Adam the last gun. "No need. I like this one. I will take this," Adam immediately says, completely satisfied with the Golden Eagle in his hand.
The store owner looks at Adam and sees that the kid has already made his choice, and he is not surprised. Many people immediately go for the Golden Eagle because of the power it has, and it is also one of the good-looking guns.
"Fine, let’s go and do some paperwork," the store owner says, and they both walk out.
While they do, they don’t notice a woman with short brown hair staring at them.
’That kid’s amazing. Wonder where he got his training from,’ the woman thought, and went back to her shooting practice.
Back in the store, the gun owner helps Adam fill out the form, and also registers him for a gun licence and registers his new gun under his name.
It only takes an hour, and Adam is already out of the store with a brand new gun in his hand. He can’t believe it was so easy for him to buy a gun. Well, whatever, now with a gun, he feels much more in control.
Control is everything for Adam, after all.
As he walks out, he sees the biker gang is still hanging out in the parking lot. Adam makes eye contact with that short-haired tattooed girl again, smiles at her, and enters his car before driving away.
On his way back to the restaurant, Adam immediately notices something. The biker gang is following him.
’Did I piss them off? Or maybe they are just going the same direction as me’ Adam wonders as he continues to drive, but the longer he drives, the more certain he is that he is being followed.
But Adam isn’t concerned because now he owns a gun. He feels much more relieved and in control. If he didn’t have a gun in his possession, he would be much more worried right now.
Adam drives back to his workplace and parks his car in his usual spot. He then turns to look at the biker gang, who just continue driving. Adam sighs, puts his new gun in his car’s glove box, gets out, locks the car, and enters the restaurant.
The store is already open, as Leila seems to have arrived much earlier than he did. She greets him and they both get to work.
After some time, Cassie arrives as well. Adam can smell the scent of body wash on her as she clearly showered before coming here, probably to wash off the scent of sex and cum off her after fucking her boyfriend John, who only Adam seems to know about for now.
Cassie then immediately starts getting cozy with Adam, continuing with her cheerful, bright girl act, which Adam can now clearly see through, but Adam doesn’t care, because her act at least keeps him entertained, and it’s fun seeing how this girl goes out of her way to look charming for him.
But this also makes Adam wonder why she does all this. Why follow him around, try to get close to him, try to express her attraction towards him, and then go on and date some other guy, then hide your relationship from not only him but everyone in her life.
It’s as if she is playing some sick, twisted game with that John guy. He is clearly getting cucked as he has no idea it’s happening, but he seems too much of a simp to realize what is happening.
Well, Adam doesn’t care. If Cassie wants to throw herself at him, he is going to make sure to properly use her. Why bother resisting when he can have all the fun and never be bothered by its consequences?
An hour flys by in an instant when suddenly the door rings and a bunch of people storm in.
Their arrival immediately gathers attention from everyone in the restaurant, from staff to customers, everyone is looking at them as they all stand out a lot.
Especially to Adam because he recognizes them. It’s the biker gang that followed him all the way here.
’Are they trying to mess with me?’ Adam wonders, but doesn’t jump into conclusions. There is no need to do anything if nothing’s going to happen.
Seeing how intimidating they look, Leila and Cassie hesitate to approach them. Adam sighs and decides to approach them.
With his fancy digital note in his hand, he approaches the biker gang.
"Ladies, and gentlemen, what can I get for you?" Adam asks them, putting on his best customer service smile.
The three women in the group look at Adam and then smirk at each other.
"Are you on the menu?" one of the girls asks. This one has an above-average face, but she does stand out a lot with her very bright red hair color, clearly bleached and dyed to make it stand out so much.
Adam is now certain that these people are here to mess with him.
