CHAPTER 96: SPAR

Clara was never someone who dated people for their looks.

She only cared for a person’s personality. They just needed to be good.

Even her husband was not that good-looking, so whenever people found out that she was married to her ex-husband, they would be surprised, seeing how beautiful she is and how average her husband looked.

And even with all those questionable looks from others, their marriage stayed strong until life just became too much for them. Their work got in between them, and they lost their love for each other.

But that’s that.

Right now, Clara is having a completely different reaction to her past. Sure, there were times that she thought someone looked attractive, but it was never the driving factor for her to pursue a relationship with them.

But now, seeing Adam in all his glory, his muscles, his big dick, his handsome face, everything added up so perfectly that she couldn’t help but feel lightheaded from the sudden surge of attraction she is feeling towards the son of her deceased best friend.

And it’s all because Adam has very nice muscles and a big dick.

Clara’s face starts to flush. She never expected that she was so attracted to muscles before, but now that she has seen Adam in all his glory, she is rethinking what she finds attractive.

’Clara, this is not okay. Calm yourself down; you are over thirty years old. When did I become so vain?’ Clara thinks and takes another deep breath to calm herself down.

"What was that?" Adam asks.

"Huh? What?" Clara gets caught off guard by Adam’s sudden question.

"I thought you said something," Adam says.

"No! It’s nothing! I was just thinking about this... It all looks good. I can go and talk to them on Monday and get all the paperwork done," Clara says.

"That’s great, thank you, Clara," Adam thanks her.

"No need to thank me, I am just looking out for you as I should," Clara says.

"And I am glad that you do... I need to leave now. I have other things to attend to," Adam says and gets up.

"What about your clothes?" Clara asks.

"I will pick them up later," Adam says and bids farewell to Clara.

Clara stands before her door and watches Adam get in his car. He waves his hand at her, and she does the same before watching him drive away.

Clara finally takes a deep sigh of relief. Now that Adam is gone, her body is finally calming down.

"What was wrong with me? How can I even think about Adam like that? He is Sofie’s son," She murmurs and gets back inside her house and locks the door.

Adam drives away from Clara’s house with a smile on his face.

Now he has an experienced lawyer with an amazing track record by his side. He is now much more confident about his future endeavors. With Clara as his legal advisor, he won’t be making rookie legal mistakes.

He can only thank his dead mother for being best friends with such a good lawyer as Clara, because finding a good lawyer whom he can trust is extremely hard.

With the legal stuff out of the way, Adam drives to his gym.

Today is Saturday, so the gym might be busier than usual, but that won’t stop him from learning more.

Adam arrives before his gym and sees a few more cars than usual parked around. He grabs his gym bag and walks into his gym.

Just like he expected, there are a bunch of people training, doing warmups and drills. He even sees a few people sparring inside the rings.

Adam enters the changing room and sees a few guys walking around in their underwear, changing as well.

Seeing Adam enter, they look at him. He is a new face to them after all.

None of these people are usually here at this time during the weekdays. So it’s expected for them to be surprised by a new face, especially one that looks as handsome as Adam’s.

Adam arrives before his locker and starts changing. Seeing his lean and toned physique impresses the guys, but they keep to themselves.

Adam puts on his gym uniform and comes back to find Lamai.

With so many students around, she seems busy, but when she notices Adam, she immediately ditches everyone else and walks up to him.

"It looks busy today," Adam says, looking around.

"Well, it’s the weekend; people have time to come and hone their skills," Lamai says.

"So what are we doing today?" Adam asks.

"Since Connor is not here, let’s get you introduced with some light sparring. You already know how to use footwork and some punch and kick combinations. Let’s see how your instincts are," Lamai says.

"Sure, I have been wanting to get in the ring," Adam says.

"I know, but don’t overdo it. You might hurt someone seriously or get hurt in the process," Lamai says, but when she thinks about it, with Adam’s power, he is more likely to hurt someone than get hurt.

She looks around and finds someone to spar with Adam.

"Kevin!" She calls out.

A young man, about six feet tall, with tan skin, black curly hair, stops punching the bags and looks at Lamai.

"Get in the ring, spar with Adam here," Lamai says.

Kevin looks at Adam and gets a little jealous, seeing how good-looking Adam is. He also sees how close Lamai is standing to Adam. Something she rarely does with other students.

He begins to wonder who Adam is and where he comes from.

"Sure, I can use some practice before my debut," Kevin says and approaches them.

"This is Kevin. He has been training for two years and is about to make his amateur debut inside the ring." Lamai introduces Kevin to Adam.

"Nice to meet you. My name’s Adam." Adam smiles and introduces himself.

Seeing Adam’s charismatic smile annoys Kevin, but he decides to play along for now. He doesn’t want to look like an asshole before Lamai.

"Okay, Adam, go and wrap up," Lamai says, sending Adam away. She then turns to Kevin.

"Look, he is a complete noob, but he has freak strength and power. He is the most physically gifted man I have ever met. Don’t get carried away and hurt yourself, or your debut will have to get postponed," Lamai warns Kevin.

Kevin is surprised to hear Lamai tell him to exercise caution. It should be the other way around. It should be her telling the pretty boy to exercise caution, as he is a noob. Not him, who has two years of experience under his belt.

Kevin frowns but doesn’t say anything.

Since he already has his gloves on, he doesn’t need to do anything but wait for Adam to come back.

Adam returns with his hands wrapped, and Lamai helps him put on some big padded gloves to keep both Adam’s hands and Kevin’s face safe.

"Okay, get in the ring," Lamai says and watches as Adam gets in the ring. Kevin is waiting for him on the other end, leaning against the corner turnbuckle, relaxed.

He believes it’s going to be a walk in the park for him since Adam is a complete noob.

He also plans to showboat a little before Adam and show him the disparity between the two years of training he has over Adam. He is going to make sure Adam understands that just having strength and power won’t win you fights.

"Okay, it’s going to be two-minute rounds. When I say start, you start," Lamai says with a clock in hand.

She looks at Adam and then at Kevin. Seeing that both of them are ready, she blows the whistle, and the sparring begins.

Adam approaches like the newbie he is, hands up and cautious, but his foot placement looks perfect. Lamai, as an experienced fighter, immediately notices this and is impressed by Adam’s ability to naturally adapt. She has seen fighters with years of experience mess up their foot placement at the beginning of the fights and lose their advantage.

Just like how Kevin is doing right now. He allows Adam to take control of the center while he foot falls inside Adam’s, giving Adam a better angle of attack while limiting his own attack power.

Kevin, with his two years of experience, starts with jabs, trying to gauge his distance, but is finding it hard as Adam has established his presence in the ring.

As Kevin tries to throw more jabs at Adam to figure out his range, Adam throws a jab as well. His long reach immediately shows its advantage.

Kevin gets touched, and he stumbles backward as a simple jab from Adam carries a lot of strength.

Even though it didn’t hurt much, Kevin’s entire balance got thrown off as he stumbled and tried to regain his balance. Seeing Kevin vulnerable, Adam moves in. He throws a weak right cross and puts Kevin down on the canvas.

Kevin didn’t get knocked out. Adam’s hand just put enough force to knock him down as he was struggling with his balance.

*Phewwwwww* Lamai blows the whistle and steps in to stop Adam from advancing any further.

"Go back to your corner," She says to him. Adam nods and backs away. Lamai then looks at Kevin, who is already back on his feet, but she can tell from the expression on his face that Kevin feels humiliated.

"Didn’t I tell you, be careful. He might be a noob, but he knows how to use his fists. And what was that awful footwork? Fix it and try to regain control of the ring before you try out punching him," Lamai says and backs away.
