CHAPTER 330: CHAPTER 330: TO DESIRE DEATH

Kael addressed Priya and the others and spoke with them about the secondary plan for this battlefield.

They were to use this feast and the guests, both the invited and uninvited, to recruit more creatures into their castes.

This place would surely attract the attention of a lot of predators, the stench of blood and meat could be perceived for hundreds of kilometers by those with a good sense of smell.

It would be smart to capitalize on this opportunity and use it to collect as many as possible.

If it worked, the number of disposable pawns on Kael’s chessboard would increase.

This situation was just like what Burdo, his brother, had experienced at Paradise Beach.

The war between the squids, octopuses, and other aquatic creatures had caused a lot of unintentional casualties. A lot of powerful creatures died and were washed up on the shore.

This led a lot of ordinary creatures like Burdo and Harath at that time to devour the washed-up bodies. That event was directly linked to the rise of many creatures like Zed and Zod and the establishment of the beach settlement.

Even Stella, a herbivore, had fed on the vegetation and washed up seaweed that had been affected by the dead powerful creatures. There was not much competition over that kind of food at that time which allowed her to easily eat as much as she could, evolving fast.

And because there were so many of those washed-up carcasses, most predators didn’t even think of hunting her down for food.

One thing led to another, and everything was where it was now.

Kael finished finalizing the plans with Priya and the rest before turning around to leave.

He didn’t plan on staying here to join the feast. The Conquering Essence that he had absorbed from here was enough for him.

He couldn’t sit still knowing that the Arkship was somewhere waiting to be recovered. The sooner he got to the arkship, the sooner he could attend to other matters and prepare himself.

So, by the next morning, Kael and Katari left the bloody battlefield, heading for the Peach Valley where Chloe would be waiting for them.

As the sun rose into the sky again, another day had begun.

More carnivorous creatures were moving toward the bloody field to join in on the enjoyment galore.

It didn’t matter if the meat was not fresh, they would still eat and eat until they could eat again.

More hyenas arrived, making the hyena caste leader’s job way more easier. She was even thinking that her new position wasn’t so bad.

Not only did she gain the authority to command hundreds of hyenas and counting, she also got to participate in this event that the king and his consorts kept calling The Feast.

Although she still harbored thoughts of rebellion and chaos, she didn’t act on them. Rather, her lack of desire to regulate her caste caused the hyenas to become the primary troublemakers at this Feast.

It couldn’t be helped, it was their nature.

Priya and Kael knew this before adding them. To the caste leader of the hyena caste, it was clear to her that as long as she didn’t go against the lion royalty.

Even the enforcer was a bit lazy when it came to her duties.

If this continued, they would become the most chaotic and frustrating caste in the kingdom, and Kael was counting on that.

Their use went far beyond serving some military fighting force, no, Kael had a symbolic use for the hyenas.

In his mind, he had already decided their fates.

The powerful creatures, those that could transform, began to switch to their humanoid forms. With so many humanoids gathered in one place, the place was starting to look more...different.

A few hours after Kael and Katari left, a new player arrived at the bloody field with a small army.

Marcus perched at the top of one of the many carcass piles in his true vulture form. His eyes scanned the area, unable to hide the shock within.

Behind him, his small army of more than a thousand vultures descended from the sky. Some landed on the ground which was caked in blood, some perched on the mass of bodies or carcass piles.

All of them had shock in their eyes.

Marcus had decided to fly back to the Super Mega Herd to find food.

He expected the Super Mega Herd to still be here, not this hellish landscape.

The only living things he could see and sense were the carnivorous creatures in the distance who were busy enjoying the food.

The death itself was not what shocked Marcus, he was glad that so many creatures died, ecstatic actually, he felt joy.

What surprised him was the fact that it actually happened. Something happened here that led to so many deaths.

Marcus couldn’t imagine himself being able to cause so much carnage, not with his current understanding of his powers.

His heartbeat faltered as massive amounts of Death Essence were siphoned into his body.

Marcus took in a very deep breath, the Death Essence flowed into his mouth, nose, and eyes. His aura rose higher and higher, alerting the other creatures who were far away.

The vultures close to had to flap their wings and fly away for fear of being affected negatively.

As of now, it looked like a dark mist was surrounding Marcus, forming a dark cyclone around him. The dark mist cyclone was getting bigger and darker as more Death Essence rose from the dead bodies and into Marcus’s body.

Marcus’s feathers were becoming darker and glass-like while his head and neck were getting paler and began to look more sickly. His power was increasing.

Whatever had happened here, it had worked out well for him and he was glad.

Marcus already guessed as to what had caused this much death and carnage.

’It must have been him,’ Marcus thought to himself.

Although he had never seen Kael, just the zebra body he had used to talk to him, he was sure that Kael had caused this.

If he thought about it, what would someone like him with that kind of power be doing with a mind-controlled puppet within the Super Mega Herd?

Marcus had tasted the power of the Conquering Essence and knew the effects it had on the mind. When he correlated it with what he was seeing on the bloody field, it made sense.

That Primordial, as he had called himself and Marcus, had done this.

Knowingly or unknowingly, his actions were now benefiting Marcus and making him stronger than ever.

The vultures behind him continued to move away as a pillar of dark Death Essence rose into the sky. At this early morning when the sun was already out, this phenomenon was very noticeable.

It gave the whole carcass field a different, more ominous vibe.

Those who stared in Marcus’s direction were starting to have an uncomfortable desire to just lie down and die.

They were having the desire not just to die, but to cause death. Marcus’s spreading aura was giving birth to another type of intent within them.

This wasn’t killing intent, it was death intent.

The desire to die.

Thankfully, Marcus wasn’t as edgy as he looked. He was self-aware and knew that his aura might cause some unintended consequences if left out and uncontrolled.

If not for the sake of that mysterious Primordial who had helped him, he had to control himself for his subjects behind him.

This visually stunning scene was burned into the minds of the vultures and onlookers, especially with the strange feelings and desires they were starting to have.

Then, the dark mist started to fade away. The Death Essence was sucked into Marcus’s body at a slower rate.

He was intentionally doing this to avoid complications, which would mean that he had to take a much longer time to absorb everything.

The amount of Death Essence present on this vast carcass field filled Marcus’s spirit with elation.

The food no longer interested him as much as before, all he wanted was the Death Essence.

The only problem was that he wasn’t sure if his body would be able to absorb so much Death Essence.

Kael had been able to absorb an equivalent amount of Conquering Essence because he could store it in the reserves of the Lion System.

Marcus did not have such a system, but he had an alternative.

The pile of bodies he was standing on began to shake and shift, trembling and causing pieces of flesh to fall off.

The vultures behind him also started to do something strange, they began to speak to the bodies around them, channeling the power of death that Marcus had bestowed upon them.

The laws of reality twisted once again to follow the will of a Primordial.

The creatures that had been dead for close to two days, began to get up once again.

They stood back up, their cursed souls returning to their undead bodies which now served as vessels to store Death Essence.
