CHAPTER 356: CHAPTER 356: REBELLION

"It’s stopped," Saul, Thawne’s father said as he looked around at the multicolored sky of heaven.

"That’s the most intense Fortune Destabilization I’ve ever experienced," Another fortune lion said next to him.

They stood on an island that was just one among millions of floating islands revolving around a bright small red star.

Each of these islands had one or two lions standing on them, doing one thing or the other.

Every single one of those lions was a Lion King.

This place, the small red star and the floating islands, currently had more than half of the overall Fortune Lions in the whole Lion civilization.

The Strings of Fate Coalition.

"What is the Primordial Lion doing?" Saul asked no one in particular.

"Who knows, but the scales have tilted, and it’s not coming back from the looks of it," The other lion beside him said as he sensed the imbalance of their fortune.

"Is this a good or bad thing?" Another lion from another island asked.

"That’s the thing, we can’t tell, not yet," An elderly lion said in response.

The whole Red Star Island formation erupted in discussions of different kinds.

They had just fought hard to stabilize the collective luck of their civilization, something they had been doing since the time of Silax. But for some reason, they failed today.

All of them, the combined might of so many powerful fortune lions, actually failed because of one lion somewhere that they didn’t know.

It was both frustrating and terrifying.

They knew that it was the Primordial Lion, naturally. One of the core innate abilities of the fortune lions was their guessing prowess. They tended to make the right guesses most of the time.

And most of them had immediately thought of the Primordial Lion the moment the Fortune Instability started.

The consequences of this could not easily be predicted as fate was a complex thing.

For more than a million years, the Strings Of Fate Coalition had helped the whole lion race in ways that could not be ignored.

The collective work of these Fortune Lions contributed to the success of the lion civilization in surviving for so long, even when the dragons and Ibadon were still around.

Most lions felt like the main character of their own story. They fought, conquered, and vanquished their enemies. Although their individual might could not be ignored, luck also played a part.

Lions could Ander the galaxies and oppress everything they wanted to do because they had the backing of powerful kings and alliances, as well as pillar coalitions like the Strings Of Fate Coalition.

This didn’t mean that they were invincible and couldn’t be touched or defeated. It just meant that luck was on their side most of the time.

The lions were so blessed and powerful that they had basically created their personal plot armor.

Many times, the lion civilization should have been utterly destroyed and should have been a forgotten civilization by now. But they still stood strong, managing to recover from many disasters.

It was thanks to the power of Fortune.

Without it, all they had was intelligence and raw might. To conquer the universe and keep on surviving, those might not be enough.

Now, something was making the collective luck of the whole civilization unstable.

This could cause unforeseen consequences. Lions and lionesses outside heaven could start dying randomly from things that couldn’t kill them, or they could start finding heaven-shaking treasures out of the blue, anything could happen.

It was hard to say whether this was a good thing or a bad thing. They had to find the Primordial Lion first.

But everyone knew that once the Primordial Lion was found, it wouldn’t be all jolly.

The number of lions who were finding out about the existence of the Primordial Lion was increasing exponentially. Soon, very soon, every lion king would be aware.

The lion civilization was divided, and something had to be done.

"We must find the Primordial Lion!" Shouted one of the large Fortune Lions. His dark mane ruffled with his bloated ego as he talked in a deep voice.

He was one of the stronger Fortune Lions present, stronger than Saul.

He was also a Lion who didn’t think of the Primordial Lion favorably. Rumors were that he was already in cahoots with the Anti-primordials.

"I agree," said another high-tier lion, a supporter of the Primordial Lion.

Suddenly, there was a change in the aura of fortune as some of them began to sense something happening.

"Another one has started," A Lion growled in anger as the void around them began to vibrate.

They all made guesses to conclude what was happening.

Rebellion.

It was a very small thing and it wasn’t something that was to be their attention. Rebellions happened once in a while and it was usually resolved.

But there was something about this sudden change in the collective fortune. It was as if everything was falling in place according to someone’s plan.

The rebellion that was happening now among one of their vassals would be the start of a chain of events that would cause more unpredictable things.

Where was this little rebellion happening?

They didn’t know, not yet. Even if they eventually knew. It would be too late to stop it.

Alora sat comfortably on a pillow couch in her humanoid form.

She was inside one of the rooms of the pyramids belonging to a member of the Fanged Flower Alliance.

Her pyramid was still being built so she would stay here in the meantime.

She blinked, summoning the golden screen of the lion system.

The soft golden glow pressed against her white hair and white skin, giving her an ethereal godly visage.

Her calm blue eyes looked through the public chat room, acknowledging the rapidly moving texts. Then she navigated with her mind to the private chat room to check her messages.

...

Adolf: It is done, all the useful rebels have been transported to those respective vassal civilizations and will work towards starting an uprising.

I made sure not to tell them anything. They were the most disruptive subjects our clan had anyway. All they need is a bit of free time before they start trying to do something.

Although, I don’t think all of them will succeed. Perhaps, they’ll only be able to cause some trouble.

Alora: Okay, well done.

Adolf: Hey, why do you think he wants us to start a rebellion randomly?

Alora: ...

...

Alora was not that close to Adolf to consider engaging in this type of conversation with him.

They weren’t even friends, merely acquaintances.

She had some guesses as to why Kael had asked her to start a rebellion.

...

Adolf: Hey, don’t keep me silent okay? You and I are in the same freaking boat.

Don’t act all high and mighty just because you’re now a Lion Queen. We are still pawns for the golden lion, no matter our status.

It would be better if you shared your ideas with me so that we can work together better...

Alora: Missions.

Adolf: What?

Alora: More rebellions mean more reasons to go out and conquer. That indirectly means there will be more missions added to the mission board in the future.

Overall, this would mean that the lion system would get active.

Adolf: ...

...

Adolf was stunned where he was, he hadn’t expected Alora to send such a long message. For someone like Alora, this was indeed a long message.

Usually, when she conversed with others who didn’t matter to her, she used short phrases and single sentences.

...

Adolf: Oh, thank you. That makes sense. But what does he stand to gain from this?

Alora: I don’t know.

...

After sending the last message, Alora dismissed the private chat and went back to the public chat section. Chatting with Adolf was not something she found pleasure in.

As expected, there were a few lion lords who mentioned some weird changes that they were experiencing from their vassals.

They had already noticed.

The lion kings were not directly involved in the governance of the vassals, that was a job for the Lion Lords and Lion Princes. Lion Kings managed their respective lion clans.

Out of the troublesome creatures that Adolf had released into different smaller civilizations, Alora had asked that some be sent to the territory of some specific lords.

Most of these lords were already part of the Lion System.

Since her father, Pagast, had joined, the lords and princes of his clan had also joined.

Alora made sure that the territories of Pagast’s clan lords were visited by these troublesome creatures too.

She couldn’t see the full picture of whatever Kael was planning and she didn’t care. She hadn’t forgotten her goal, to be the strongest lioness in the whole civilization.

While Kael was busy doing whatever he was doing, Alora was already making her own and taking action.

*WHOOSH!*

A multicolored Heavenly Portal appeared in front of her, leading to the world beneath heaven.

Out from the portal, an icy wind and frosty aura blew over, hitting Alora’s face and blowing her hair slightly.

Alora stood up. Just before she crossed the portal, a telepathic voice reached into her mind.

"Are you going to that dragon outpost?" The female voice asked. The aura of the heavenly portal could not be hidden from the owner of the pyramid.

"Yes," Alora said, after which, she passed through the portal.

Just before the portal closed, the maddening roar of a mighty creature shook the room before disappearing along with the portal’s closing.
