CHAPTER 392: CHAPTER 392: NO HEART TO BREAK

"We’re surrounded, Chloe, from all sides," Kael said.

By now, everyone has left, at least, almost everyone. It was unknown whether Katari was still here and just hiding in a dimensional fold.

Chloe sighed, "So, what do you want to do?" She asked while adjusting the sleeping child in her embrace.

"I haven’t decided yet. But we’ll probably be having some action sooner than we expect.

Hopefully, I can rely on your experience for..."

"Experience?" Chloe raised an eyebrow, "I don’t have experience with this type of thing. I’ve never experienced a conflict of this magnitude before.

How is my experience supposed to get us anywhere?" There was a hint of annoyance in her tone.

Kael was silent. Chloe had just interrupted him. He remained quiet, allowing the lack of sound to reign.

Chloe’s mouth was half open, and she realized what she had just done.

"I’m sorry," Chloe said.

Kael’s gaze shifted from the ceiling and landed on Chloe. Then his eyes settled on the sleeping child in her arms.

"Do you regret staying with me?" Kael asked, "Do you regret not following the rest back to heaven when you had the chance?"

Chloe was shaken by the question. She understood that her time had awoken a dormant mechanism within Kael’s mind. Kael had begun to question her genuine feelings for him.

This wasn’t a good position to be in as it was the same thing as putting Kael in a bad mood.

"No, no," Chloe said as she quickly lowered her gaze to avoid eye contact with him.

Seeing her reaction, Kael chuckled softly. He stood up, stretched his hands, and walked unhurriedly toward Chloe.

"You know, there’s this thing some people do when they are caught off guard and start lying," Kael said as he stopped beside Chloe.

She kept her head down and held her daughter tight, not because she wanted to protect her but because she needed to hold on to something.

"When they lie, they subconsciously avoid eye contact," Kael said.

Chloe instantly raised her head to look Kael in the eyes.

But Kael continued.

"And when their subconscious flaw has been pointed out, they try to prove you wrong,"

Chloe shuddered.

"You do regret being with me, you’re worried about your survival," Kael said as though it were an irrefutable fact.

"No, I’m not," Chloe defended with tears welling up in her eyes.

Kael simply sighed, deciding not to press the matter.

This was once again another reminder that females only enjoyed staying with a male if everything was going well. The second it looked like things were about to go south, they would start thinking of jumping ship.

Kael wasn’t angry, it was normal, and he was glad that he had mentally prepared himself for it beforehand.

Usually, the only time anyone stayed during trying times was because of self-interest. If their survival, lifestyle, and legacy were tied to his, they would have no choice but to stay.

Chloe was bound to him, whether she regretted it or not didn’t matter.

Kael just made it a mental note, another thing that he should have discovered earlier in his past life.

*Sigh!*

By now, Chloe had tears streaming down her face. She wasn’t disloyal, and she didn’t want to be seen like that.

Even she couldn’t control her thoughts and her desire for survival.

"Kael..."

"Get ready for the exodus operation, any of your belongings still on Eridoria should be packed up within the week," Kael said and walked away.

Chloe turned around fast, "Kael, please, I didn’t mean to!" She shouted

Kael continued walking toward the elevator, "Why are you apologizing for being a woman? You apologize under the assumption that I was offended.

I wasn’t,"

As Kael reached the elevator, Chloe suddenly felt that Kael looked very lonely. His broad shoulders and back looked desolate, like a being who was ready to challenge the heavens all alone, no matter the outcome.

It was the figure of a being who could not be heartbroken because there was no heart to break.

Kael stepped into the elevator, and shortly after, he descended.

He could have just teleported to wherever he wanted to go, but he decided to walk.

Chloe was left all alone in the throne room as she sobbed quietly. The pressure of all her impulsive and emotional decisions threatening to crush her all at once.

"Isabel, why won’t you do it with me? What’s wrong?" Ozia asked in a pleading voice as he followed after the fox lady outside the pyramid.

The fox lady walked in front and her friends who had all come here to work as waiters were in front.

A magic shuttle was parked ahead and waiting for all of them.

The distance between the other foxes and the duo was a few tens of meters. The foxes didn’t dare to look back out of curiosity, they just kept on walking as if the first prince wasn’t begging a fox lady behind them.

The little princes held on to the fox lady’s hand, taking care not to pull her hand too hard so as not to hurt her.

"Is it because of my brothers? Tell me, they can’t do anything to you. Is it because my thing is smal..."

Isabel shook her head at the telepathic words Ozia was sending her, "Prince Ozia, it’s not that. It’s just..."

Isabel paused for dramatic suspense.

"What, what is it?" Ozia demanded.

Isabel looked shy, but also sad at the same time. To Ozia, it looked like she was about to cry.

"Prince Ozia, it’s just that...you will abandon me!" Isabel blurted as she used her hand to cover her face.

"Who told you that?" Ozia frowned as he tried to pry her hand off her face.

Isabel sobbed, looking extremely vulnerable to Ozia. Ozia’s young mind couldn’t take it and desperately wanted to take care of her.

"No one, but that’s what always happens," Isabel said mid-cry.

"What do you mean? Isabel, talk to me,"

"You’re a Prince, I’m just an ordinary fox in my caste. We come from two different worlds, my Prince.

You are surrounded by different creatures who want to get your attention and love. Beautiful lionesses will flock to your space, and many pride leaders are already pushing their daughters to be with you.

How could I ever compete with them, my Prince? How could I?"

Ozia shook his head, "Who told you that, who is putting all that in your mind?" He asked.

Isabel shook her head while wiping away her crystal tears, "No one told me, that’s what always happens."

"That won’t happen, stop saying that, I would never hurt you. I..." Ozia paused as the words were stuck in his throat.

It felt as though saying those words was unanimous with going against his very nature.

"What my Prince?" Isabel asked with her big eyes staring down with curiosity.

"I... I want you alone, I... I love you..." Ozia managed to force the word out of his mouth.

Indeed, those words truly felt like hot coal in his mouth. Even he couldn’t believe that he was saying such. For a moment, clarity returned to his eyes and the terrifying intelligence of the Magus Lion activated again.

However...

"Prince Ozia, you love me?" Isabel asked, stunned.

Suddenly, she crouched down and planted a firm kiss on Ozia’s lips, stunning the little boy.

Ozia subconsciously closed his eyes and held on to Isabel’s shoulders but Isabel’s eyes remained open.

From the corner of her eyes, she could still see the Iron Blood Pyramid. She also saw a tall figure donned in a clean white suit walking toward them.

The figure was still far away but under the dark sky, Isabel was able to recognize those menacing glowing gold eyes.

Isabel’s eyes widened, she was shocked stupid. She didn’t even know that she had stopped kissing Ozia. Her mind was on what she just saw.

She blinked her eyes vigorously and looked again, but she couldn’t see the figure again. He was gone.

"Don’t worry Isabel, I would never leave you," Ozia said with a sweet smile.

"Oh, yes," Isabel replied, still stunned.

"Prince Ozia, I should be going. I still have some duties to attend to and I don’t want to keep the others waiting," Isabel said as she stood up with an uneasy expression.

She looked around occasionally but didn’t see anyone. She knew that she had seen something, she wasn’t hallucinating.

"Okay then, I won’t keep you. Very soon, you won’t have to be doing all that. You can be with me," Ozia confessed.

To this, Isabel smiled and left without a word.

She caught up with her colleagues and swiftly entered the magic shuttle.

Once Isabel was inside the shuttle, the smile on her face disappeared. She looked melancholic, somewhat frightened.

She quickly approached the captain of the shuttle and said, "I’d like to speak with Madam Vixy immediately,"

"Now?" The fox captain recognized Isabel. The caste leader had asked him to keep an eye on her during this event. She was also the fox that had been hanging out with the first prince.

"Yes, I know she’s keeping in touch with you," Isabel said hurriedly while still looking around.

The captain nodded, then closed his eyes. When next he opened them, they had turned into a deep crimson color.

"Isabel, what do you want?" The captain asked. His time had taken on a more feminine tone and he spoke with a seductive charm. It was clear his mind was now under the control of another entity.

Isabel bowed, "Madam Vixy, I’m ready to receive your assistance."
