CHAPTER 505: CHAPTER 505: MEMPHIS

Ma’abu’s facial expression darkened as the image zoomed in in front of him, showing the mysterious shuttle aimlessly floating above the massive black pyramid and above the battlefield.

"That’s...that’s..." Ma’abu stuttered.

Chen turned around to look at Ma’abu. In all their time working and planning together for today, this was the first time he could say he was truly seeing Ma’abu flustered.

"Who’s that? I can sense something very wrong about that magic shuttle." Chen said.

Ma’abu shook his head, "That’s not a magic shuttle. I don’t know what that is but that’s not a magic shuttle, definitely not."

"It looks like a magic shuttle," Chen said with all seriousness. He could feel the unnatural flow of time but he couldn’t say that there was something wrong with the shuttle itself.

The shuttle was all black and had spiky edges. Chen didn’t know why but he felt like he had seen this particular shuttle before. Or he had heard someone describe something like it before.

The shuttle itself looked weird, its tip was curved. The whole vessel looked like a mechanical claw of some giant creature.

"That’s what she wants everyone to think," Ma’abu said with a strong feeling of dread.

"She? Who are you talking about?" Chen asked.

"That’s my mentor, Memphis," Ma’abu said solemnly.

Hearing this, Chen finally understood why Ma’abu was acting like this.

"Isn’t she a hermit? I heard that she had never left the peak of her mountain for a long time.

Are you sure that’s her?" Chen asked, just to be sure.

Ma’abu narrowed his eyes. He had seen this particular strange shuttle with his mentor multiple times. Although he had never seen her actually use it, he had observed it in its shrunken form when she held it in her hand.

"Yes, that’s definitely her. I don’t know what she is doing here." Ma’abu confessed.

"Well, she’s your mentor, shouldn’t you be heading over to say high or something?

Perhaps, she’ll join us..." Chen reasoned and there was nothing wrong with his mode of thinking.

"That’s not how Memphis thinks, let’s go," Ma’abu said and immediately began piloting the arkship to move away from the battlefield.

"What? Why? We’re in the middle of a new war here? You want to call it off just because your teacher showed up?" Chen asked, his aura rising as he was not going to easily let Ma’abu fly away when they hadn’t achieved half of what they wanted.

"You don’t understand, that’s Memphis!" Ma’abu said, ignoring Chen’s warning tone.

"And so what? Is it because she is a Time Lioness? Or that she’s tier 7?

I’m tier 7 too you know, km even stronger than her if we are to be truthful."

"Isn’t that the same thing you said before you lost your wings?"

"..."

"..."

"What?"

"Sorry..." Ma’abu quickly apologised after noticing the strange way Chen was looking at him.

It seemed like he had said something funny and also provocative.

"Look," Ma’abu began trying to steer the conversation and change the topic, "Memphis might be my former mentor but I’m not the only one she ever mentored.

If anything happens right now, I can bet you that all those so-called students who had benefited from her advice will start showing themselves.

That’s also excluding Memphis herself who is a beast in her own right. She taught me everything I know about my Time Powers.

Who knows how much knowledge she held back?

I’m not even her only student, I’m just one of the many and also the last. Many more have been under her tutelage before me, most of those guys don’t even give a fuck about me.

Chen, I don’t feel confident anymore. Let’s go."

Ma’abu didn’t even wait for Chen’s confirmation and was already driving the arkship away.

He was rushing to get out of the distortion field so that he could warp his way out of here.

"Don’t you want to help your race? Would you let your mentor stand in your way?" Chen asked.

He was no longer planning on intercepting Ma’abu as he could find logic in what Ma’abu was saying.

But he was also confused. He knew Ma’abu to be the extremely determined type. He was the one who wanted to rid the world and his race of the Primordial Lion forever so that he could secure a safe future for them.

Yet, here he was, acting confused and unserious.

"Memphis is a wild card I did not prepare for. We need to make more contingencies," Ma’abu said.

Soon, orders began to fly around. All those tiger arkships that were given the opportunity were ordered to fall back.

One by one, they began to make their way out of the distortion fields and zoom off into the multicoloured horizon.

The Primordial Supporters were surprised, the fighting was just getting to the good part and most of them were getting the hang of using their Dominant Roars through the arkships’ amplification technology.

Why were the tigers then retreating? Weren’t they the ones with the numbers advantage?

Weren’t tigers supposed to be the felines with the highest combat ability?

What then could make them suddenly start retreating?

They had not even managed to get to Kael.

Or.

’Were they testing out our strength?’ This thought appeared in the minds of many of the lion kings.

Far above the Massive Black Pyramid.

The mysterious black shuttle hovered silently.

Its shape was just as Ma’abu had said, it didn’t look like an actual magic shuttle. It was smaller and had the appearance of a mechanical curved claw.

"Ma’abu, are you this stupid? Or do you believe in your own delusion?" Memphis asked no one in particular.

She stood quietly and solemnly on top of the mysterious shuttle, her feet just a few inches away from the edge.

Her white robes were calm and flowed effortlessly around her as if she were standing in a low-gravity environment.

Memphis had her arms folded and her green eyes were focused on the leading arkship that was flying away.

She watched indifferently as all the hostile arkships started following after Ma’abu’s arkship.

"Is it too late to retreat? You caused a lot of commotion just to bring all of them into heaven. Things will not be easy for you Ma’abu.

I’m afraid you have given the Primordial Lion all he needs to increase his followership.

Shame in you Ma’abu, shame on you," Memphis said while shaking her head.

Her ears twitched and she tilted her head downward to look at the massive black pyramid.

As soon as her gaze rested on the pyramid, her eyes shone with a faint green light. Scenes from hundreds of thousands of years ago began to play forth in her mind.

These were scenes of a time when the Massive Black Pyramid was yet to be built and Exalon’s ancestor was just about to make the decision.

Memphis blinked her eyes once and the scene disappeared. Her expression remained the same, she was used to it.

She refocused her eyes on the being that was flying toward her from below.

"Greetings," Exalon said as he flew up to the mysterious shuttle and saw the lady standing on top of the vessel.

Exalon noticed two things right off the bat. First, he noticed the peculiarity of this shuttle and its weird design.

Second, he recognized who was standing in the strange shuttle. He had seen her image before and some lions and lionesses privileged to benefit from her advice had described her in detail.

"Memphis?" Exalon said. He hung his head, not knowing how to address her with respect.

He wished to call her Queen Memphis but she didn’t have any heavenly beacon, nor did she belong to any clan.

He couldn’t refer to her as Her Highness as she wasn’t anyone’s consort.

It was rare to find someone like Memphis who was so strong without any powerful title.

Hopefully, the Pride Sync feature stops this in the near future.

"Hello..." Memphis said as her green eyes flashed again. Scenes from the past flashed through her eyes. Although most were blurry, she was at least able to garner a name.

"Exalon?" Memphis asked. This was her first time meeting this large guy.

She also noticed the golden irises as well as the golden veins bulging under Exalon’s skin.

The presence of a separate aura filled Memphis with curiosity.

"Is he here with you? I don’t see him," Memphis said, spreading her senses around. She couldn’t find who she was looking for.

She looked at Exalon again and her eyes continued flashing with a strong green light. This time, she was intentional and forced her gaze into the Protected Past.

Exalon suddenly felt very uncomfortable, like all his secrets were being laid bare before Memphis and there was nothing to do about it.

This was the difference between someone like Memphis and a fortune lion like the late King Vander.

Exalon might have been able to bully King Vander to death but he dared not try such with Memphis, even though he was under the influence of the Conqueror Mode Avatar.

"Memphis, are you here to see the All-King? I’ll inform him..." Exalon said.

Memphis shook her head, "I did not come to see him,"
