CHAPTER 566: CHAPTER 566: DIABOLICAL!

Ma’abu’s eyes shrank to pinpoints when he saw the faint flicker of soul flame in Kael’s eyes.

How could he not recognize that cursed flame that was able to inflict the worst pain possible while not actually burning the body?

He had seen too many creatures suffer at the hands of those temperamental and sadistic Fire Lions.

The thing was, the stronger an individual was, the more easily they would be able to tolerate pain until it died down on its own.

Some entities were even strong enough to douse the flame with their will alone.

But Ma’abu was currently a weak human.

How could he defend against the soul flame? If he had his powers, he would at least be able to endure the pain while slowing the flow of time around his soul.

"Kael?" Ma’abu staggered, trying to move his body but he couldn’t.

He couldn’t feel most of his body from his neck downward.

"What?" Kael tilted his head, "Katari had given me some suggestions, but this one seemed to fit perfectly."

Kael raised his hand and a tongue of silver fire formed on the tip of his finger. It was very small compared to what Kael would generally recommend for his much more powerful enemies.

The silver flame was weak and would not bother a tier 3 lion at all, but for Ma’abu as he was currently, this was more than enough to cause him unimaginable pain.

And that was not all Kael had planned.

Kael flinched his finger and Ma’abu could only watch as the silver flame flew toward his head and sank into his frontal lobe.

The effect was almost instantaneous.

"No, no no no NOOOOO! AAAAARGH NOOOO!" Ma’abu shouted, louder than he had been shouting before.

His neck spasmed as though he was being shocked with high-voltage shock therapy.

Multiple veins bulged in his head. Ma’abu wanted to scratch his body but he couldn’t.

He felt an insane maddening itch, he felt like dying, he felt the worst headache ever.

He could not feel his skin but he could somehow feel his skin burning. His soul burned in the astral heat of the soul fire.

He was paralysed and he was burning inside.

Ma’abu could only scream in pain, hoping that someone would come and kill him fast.

This pain was too much to bear. He couldn’t even bang his head on a hard surface to distract himself.

He couldn’t commit suicide even if he wanted to.

Even if he tried to hold his breath so that stop breathing, he would probably just lose consciousness and start breathing again automatically.

"And now, for the main event," Kael smiled again.

He stepped away from Kael and flew into the sky. The lion kings, Memphis, Fidel, and Ozia, all followed after Kael.

A spatial distortion came over them and their images were blurred out of existence such that no ordinary mortal could see them.

Only Ma’abu who still lay on the roof of the apartment was aware that powerful entities had once been here.

Soon, the very thing that Kael had been waiting for happened.

"Quick, the screams are getting louder!" Someone shouted as they rushed up the stairs.

The apartment roof was the type that had a stairway roof access.

Nothing luxurious, just a trapdoor to access the roof, something the dwellers could enjoy while their rent ran dry.

Kael had intentionally chosen this apartment roof for this.

The trapdoor to the roof was slammed open as one man rushed out.

It was a middle-aged short man with an empathetic look on his face. He scanned his surroundings and spotted Ma’abu’s broken body lying some meters away.

Ma’abu’s scream was also very attractive to his ears and helped a lot.

The man immediately rushed over. Behind him, two other people ascended the roof to the roofing space.

They saw the body and the blood that had pooled next to the head.

One of them, an annoying-looking fair lady, froze up and clamped her hands over her mouth.

The second person was a guy who immediately ran over to help the first tenant.

"Mister, are you okay?" The empathetic-looking man asked as he crouched next to Ma’abu. He looked worried.

"Aaa..Help...me..." Ma’abu managed to say in between his screams, "...Kill...me..."

However, Ma’abu was speaking the lion language, something that no one on this planet could hope to understand yet.

"What did he say?" The second tenant asked as he approached.

"I don’t know, call the emergency service quickly, he’s bleeding..." The empathetic man said but he didn’t need to talk too much as the second tenant had already brought out his phone to call the emergency line.

He dialed the number quickly and started speaking to the person on the other line.

"Yes yes, he’s not moving, only his head and eyes...

Yes, he can talk...

Yes, he seems to be in a lot of pain.

I don’t understand the language he’s speaking...

He’s also missing an eye, yes.

No other person in sight, it looks like he was abandoned here.

We’ll do as you ask..."

The phone had been on speaker mode so the empathetic man could follow some instructions on keeping Ma’abu alive till the paramedics could come.

The last tenant, the woman who had frozen, ran back down to get a first aid kit from another tenant.

Soon, the news spread, and a lot of people had come to the roof to see what had happened. The landlord who usually wasn’t at the apartment had to come by to check it out himself too.

The paramedics came. As instructed, no one had tried to move Ma’abu from his spot for fear of worsening his injuries and causing him to bleed to death.

The paramedics climbed to the roof and checked Ma’abu’s body.

They discovered something that shocked them.

Ma’abu was clearly paralysed. One of his kneecaps was shattered and one of his arms was also broken.

One of his eyes was gone too.

Whoever had left this mysterious man like this had clearly wanted him to suffer.

What amazed them, confused them, and frightened some, was that even though Ma’abu was paralysed and should no longer be feeling much pain, he was still screaming as if he was burning in the hottest part of hell.

How could someone whose nerves were damaged feel so much pain? It should be impossible.

But they couldn’t do anything apart from carefully carrying Ma’abu away and rushing him to a hospital.

Meanwhile, Kael and the others watched all this from the secrecy of their spatial distortion field.

Everyone except Ma’abu felt a cold chill run down their spine.

So this was the punishment that Kael had prepared for Ma’abu?

It was way too devious and diabolical. This was harmful not just to Ma’abu’s body, but to his psychology and mental stability as well.

Ozia watched with genuine fear. He thought he was cold and psychotic, he had thought that his mother was the only one better than him when it came to creative torture.

He didn’t know that Kael was way worse. And Kael had mentioned that it was Katari who suggested this one, he might have merely added a few finishing touches to make it more memorable.

"Katari, are you recording?" Kael asked to the empty space beside him.
