Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 567: Ma’abu’s Fate
CHAPTER 567: CHAPTER 567: MA’ABU’S FATE
"Katari, are you recording?" Kael asked to the empty space beside him.
Suddenly, the space distorted and Katari revealed herself in her humanoid form. She wore a light, blueish-white, free-flowing knee-length gown.
Held in her hand was an info orb that was currently recording everything that was happening with Ma’abu.
The lion kings looked at each other but didn’t say anything. They had felt the presence of another entity and they had noticed that that individual was very close to Kael.
Knowing about the rumors that had spread about the High Killer, they were somewhat at peace.
They just had to be vigilant in case it was not Katari and they had made a wrong judgment.
Luckily, it turned out to be Katari in the end.
It turns out that Katari had been recording Ma’abu all this time.
She didn’t start recording from the beginning though, it was when Kael started taking Ma’abu seriously that she began to record everything.
From Kael’s crippling strikes to flicking that small piece of soul fire into Ma’abu’s body, she had recorded it all. And she was still recording.
"The heavenly beacon?" Kael asked.
Katari, still focused on Ma’abu and the paramedics that were carrying him down the apartment, stretched out her other hand at Kael.
Floating in her palm was a glowing star-shaped crystal, a heavenly beacon. The symbol of authority for lion kings.
Apparently, when a lion king is infected with a Devolution Seed, they lose their powers as well as the heavenly beacons.
That was how they had extracted the heavenly beacons from the lion kings at the coliseum without outright killing them.
Usually, the only way to take a heavenly beacon from a lion king was from their corpse.
But the Devolution Seeds made things easier and less messy.
At least, Alora could now get rid of her heavenly beacon so that she could relinquish her status as a lion queen and fully embrace her role as his consort.
Kael collected the heavenly beacon from Katari and handed it over to Fidel behind him.
Fidel bowed his head and received the heavenly beacon with reverence. This was the heavenly beacon used by the one who indirectly caused his father’s death, of course, he would cherish it as though it belonged to Exalon.
Under Kael’s urging, Fidel absorbed the heavenly beacon and instantly assumed the aura and stance of a true king.
Now, he was officially crowned the king of his clan. The upcoming power restructuring was none of Kael’s business, he had done his own part for Exalon’s legacy to continue.
Ozia looked at this with concealed envy, but he didn’t say anything.
He had followed Kael here for a reason and hoped to achieve it.
"Let us watch a little more," Kael said to the others. None of them protested, they wanted to see what would become of Ma’abu.
Although they had guesses, they had not expected to feel the way they felt when they saw the events unfold.
Ma’abu could not speak the language that these base humans were speaking, among all the languages he understood, he had never heard theirs.
Even if he wanted to learn their language now, he didn’t have the patience or mental clarity to do so.
The paramedics who carried him down on the stretcher noticed many odd things about him.
First was his eyes, they were a jazzy black but were surprisingly very sharp. His stare was so intense that they felt primal fear just from looking at him.
Surely, none of them were lions originally, if not they wouldn’t be scared just from his look.
Also, they noticed that Ma’abu had a lot of weight. It took four people to be able to carry him properly, this was very weird.
Ma’abu was muscular but not to the point that he was very buff. He was more knowledgeable on the learner side.
His weight did not match his size at all.
The most obvious anomaly they noticed was how Ma’abu’s injuries started healing fast after they administered some simple medication.
Small cuts were closed within a few minutes. Slightly large injuries would leave scars but they could tell that they would all be covered in a few days or weeks at most with the speed the injuries were healing.
Inside the ambulance, on the way to the hospital, the situation had become less of an urgency.
One of his ribs was still sticking into his lungs which interfered with his breathing, he was still paralysed, and some broken bones were probably not going to grow back ever again.
But Ma’abu’s body was stable now and it didn’t seem like he was in a life-or-death emergency again.
However, the screams said otherwise.
Ma’abu had stopped screaming. His voice was loud and the paramedics could feel their eardrums rattling.
But they couldn’t tell what was causing Ma’abu so much pain at this point.
They had scanned his whole body but nothing could be found.
They didn’t know that the affliction Ma’abu was suffering from was not physical but spiritual.
Ok getting to the hospital, the professional humans continued to run tests but they still couldn’t find anything wrong with Ma’abu.
They sedated him and took him out of the intensive care unit with no choice. As expected, Ma’abu calmed down and sank into a state of consciousness.
However, her sedation didn’t last as Ma’abu woke up a few minutes later screaming once again.
If not that he was paralyzed, he would have trashed the ward he was in.
The doctors had to dose him with drugs strong enough to knock out five ordinary horses before Ma’abu actually slept off.
Ma’abu’s case caused a lot of confusion and anxiety for the doctors. They were curious as to how such a powerful body could exist.
If not for his paralysis, this would be a legendary super soldier.
They did a brain scan and found that Ma’abu’s brain was equally impressive. His neuron pathways showed that his intelligence was probably on par with those of the top academic geniuses.
It was a pity that they couldn’t understand his language, they would have spoken with him to understand the mysteries he held in his head.
Kael and the others all watched this unfold indifferently.
The next day more brain scans were done, to understand if he was suffering from some psychological issue that made him scream with pain, but there was none.
Besides the paralysis and broken bones, Ma’abu was completely fine.
After more tests that involved visiting doctors and law enforcement investigators, it was discovered that most of the injuries on Ma’abu’s body had been caused by direct blunt force.
The scar on the eyelid covering his missing eye looked like it had been caused by a sharp fingernail.
There was still a bruise on his knee and there was a dent on his back. The professionals checked and suggested that Ma’abu had been brutally beaten by someone for him to be in this state.
This caused an uproar in the hospital and all the institutions that were getting interested in the matter.
To think that Ma’abu had once been a man who could stand and walk normally. Then despite his apparently high intelligence and his powerful body, he had still been beaten up to this state by another person.
Clearly, the other person who did this to Ma’abu was a monster. Some did not know if they should be looking for such a person or stay away.
Many were not surprised though, this was the least shocking thing that had happened in Planet Kareem in the past year.
They once had tales of werewolf mercenaries and superpowered fighters. But one day, the aliens from the stars came, fought amongst themselves, killed some innocent humans, and left.
The aliens also took away all the supernaturals they had.
There were rumors about a conspiracy in the upper echelons of society. There have been talks about a secret organisation that exists to keep the planet stagnant.
This unknown organisation was also responsible for catching any supernatural human the moment they appeared.
However, these were all rumors. If not that many of them had seen the events with their own eyes, they would just assume that it was all a hoax.
After all, the government was behaving as if nothing had happened.
Society was operating normally.
To see Ma’abu was a reminder of the supernatural history Planet Kareem had. More tests were approved and taken.
Ma’abu had the DNA of an ordinary human, nothing could be gained from more tests.
It appeared like he was just a slightly stronger and better version of the current humans.
But with nothing else to do with Ma’abu, many interested parties quickly lost interest after a week or two.
To answer the reason why Ma’abu was experiencing this pain that they couldn’t understand, they sent Ma’abu to a psychiatric hospital.
There, Ma’abu was to be kept and studied occasionally.
Sedation medicine was the standard for Ma’abu now to stop him from screaming in pain.
What they didn’t know was that irrespective of whether Ma’abu was sleeping or awake, he could still feel the pain of his soul perpetually burning.
From the looks of it, Ma’abu would be spending a long time in the psychiatric hospital. The nurse, the investigators, and his fellow patients, no one would know of the agony he felt within him.
No one would be able to understand his language and fulfill his death wish.
No one would be able to understand how it feels to be helplessly paralyzed and still experience this type of torture.
The ordinary mortal mind couldn’t comprehend what Ma’abu was facing.
And with how the soul fire burned, it would take years for Ma’abu’s soul to finally be consumed by the flames.
