Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 580: Source Of Income
CHAPTER 580: CHAPTER 580: SOURCE OF INCOME
"All-King, please listen to us," A chubby humanoid male said as he bowed with a defeated expression
He was in a wide conference hall with Kael sitting at the end comfortably on his pillow sofa.
Today, Kael had a small smile on his face, something that was increasingly hard to see these days.
He relaxed, listening to the pleas of these lions.
How would it feel if someone took away your source of livelihood? Not good, definitely.
The words they said to Kael reminded him of a situation that had occurred on Earth in his past life before he was reincarnated.
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence and robots, a lot of people were said to soon lose their jobs and go broke.
Kael did not live long enough to see Artificial Intelligence take over jobs, but he had seen the terror on his coworkers’ faces when they saw videos of what Artificial Intelligence could do.
Kael was naturally among the demographics that would lose their jobs to AI.
Back then, low-class workers were scrambling to upgrade their skill set or find something else to do to generate a source of income.
The few who benefited or were not disturbed by the rise of A. I were the politicians, entrepreneurs, and specialists.
As undesirable as plumbing and electrician jobs were, no one could deny that they were so specialized that A. I would have a hard time replacing those jobs.
It was the same with a few other specialist jobs. But with the way A. I was going, it had the potential to replace many things, even those specialist jobs, even doctors were not exactly safe in the long run.
Right before Kael died, no one knew what was going to happen to them. Even then, they still adapted as humans would.
The lions should be doing the same thing. In this case, Kael was the A. I revolution and the members of the Sovereign Merchant Coalition were the unfortunate workers who were soon going to have their jobs taken away.
With the presence of the exchange feature of the lion system, these lions had lost access to their trade deals.
They used to serve as a medium for exchange, usually buying items from different places in bulk and selling them for a higher price somewhere else.
As lions, their choice of trade was usually things that lions actually needed. They didn’t see themselves as full-time merchants, rather, they saw it as some kind of hobby that was also acting as a means of income.
Before, they used to have no need to go down to the main universe as they had a lot of wealth to get whatever they wanted right there in heaven.
They used to specialize in all kinds of markets including the trade of slaves and other creatures. Actually, that was one of their main sources of income as the merchants of the lion race.
More than anything else, lions needed vassals and subordinates like rats who would do odd jobs that they didn’t have time to do themselves.
The Sovereign Merchant Coalition benefited a lot from the slave trade. They also happened to be one of the reasons why heaven was so multicolored.
It was basically a market without any market regulations.
This was a problem because although the exchange feature could take away their sources of income for other things, it couldn’t replace the slave trade.
Living creatures with active energy running through their bodies would technically cause the system to destabilize if it were tried.
It was completely different from trading fresh meat, goods, or other things.
Kael could try to replace them but he saw that it may not be ideal in the long term.
So not only had he been organizing slave trade groups that were regulated, but he had also been discouraging any lions in his system from buying slaves from the Sovereign Merchant Coalition.
Even if he couldn’t directly transfer the slave trade to his exchange feature, he could still take over the market in other ways.
Kael had already started working on upgrading the Vassal Record feature and its registration capabilities.
This would allow Lion clans to instantly swap ownership of some of their subordinates for some change or switch them for other vassals that were being offered.
The All-King attacked the Sovereign Merchant Coalition from all sides and he didn’t once use brute force.
"All-King, please," Another chubby humanoid said as he collapsed to the ground and slammed his head into the ground, "Spare us some livelihood."
The hundred or so humanoids also knelt on the ground.
These guys had all been so pompous that they never considered themselves to have the need to meet Kael in this situation.
All the wealth they had amassed was useless since a lot of lions were using Conquering Points.
"I’m not against you selling and buying, you can do what you want. My problem is that your lack of regulation has caused a lot of damage to heaven.
I should skin you alive right here as punishment..." Kael said casually in a joking manner.
The hundred sovereign merchants shivered. They really believed Kael could do such a thing.
He didn’t need to do it himself, the members of the Shadow Tyranny and Battle Born Coalition would gladly do it for him.
"I have been thinking of a way to put you all to good use though, right after you join my system that is."
"We’ll definitely join, All-King, we will,"
Kael didn’t say anything, he waved his hand at the humanoids bowing before him. Golden screens appeared in each of the faces of these wealthy lion kings.
"This is my proposal.
The Sovereign Merchant Coalition will be split into two different Coalitions.
One will be the Sovereign Finance Coalition, which will be responsible for off-system treasury privileges that would be given to Lion Kings who subscribe to the coalition’s services.
The Sovereign Finance Coalition will also be in charge of the distribution of loans to kings and clans.
The second Coalition will be the Slavers Coalition. This coalition will be responsible for the regulation and trading of slaves.
What I am planning would allow his lion kings to trade the ownership rights of vassals and slaves. Even though they wouldn’t be able to buy and sell slaves directly like they were at a vegetable market, they could still trade in the ownership rights the same way investors traded company shares.
Read through the proposal well and tell me if you are dissatisfied with my perspective."
