CHAPTER 263: BARELY LEAVING A SCRATCH

Of the magic earth cow lord, the hundreds of magic earth cows who had been peacefully grazing all lifted their heads and responded in kind with angry mooing sounds before their attention shifted towards Scaly, who had been making full use of the time it took for these magic earth cows to react-

To finish up the magic earth cow she had been in the process of eating... Something that only seemed to further enrage the large herd of magic earth cows further, as they all began running towards her. Starting out slowly before picking up speed, their bulky bodies obviously not the best when it came to speed. Even then, Scaly was still somewhat impressed by how fast they moved with their bulky built.

The one standing out the most obviously being the magic earth cow lord. Moving its massive body the size of one of those human houses she had seen during her past time inside a human town or during her time hiding away inside the human city ruins.

Even with her current increased size after her fifth evolution, she still felt rather small in comparison to this bulky giant barreling towards her.

But that was it, she didn’t feel any fear in the face of this massive monster. Instead, she felt a hint of anticipation as she watched it getting closer, her already bloody claws itching to see if they could break through the seemingly impenetrable defense of the magic earth cow lord according to the description she had read about the magic earth cows.

For this reason, she didn’t use her water magic, lightning magic or any other kind of magic as she watched the magic earth cow lord barrel past the rest of the magic earth cows and take the lead. After all, she wanted to use this monster to test out her current strength... And if something ended up going wrong, she could always escape with her now fully developed wings.

Even if she wouldn’t be able to fly that high, she would be able to easily escape from the magic earth cow lord and his herd if she wanted to...

And so, as the magic earth cow lord came charging, Scaly eagerly flexed her bloody claws before flapping her wings to give herself a slight boost in speed and height as she leaped towards the towering monster lord already in front of her-

Sharp claws soon enough bearing down on the tough hide of her opponent, as Scaly was left in a state of disbelief watching her sharp claws bounce off helplessly. Unable to leave anything more than slight scratch mark that would soon fade.

Although she had expected it to be difficult to pierce through the defense of the magic earth cow lord, she had never expected it to be this difficult. Her claws being rendered useless at the first clash-

But that was just her normal claw attack. After using her dragon claw strike enhanced through her water magic, she did manage to pierce through the thick hide of her opponent. Although the damage done was extremely limited. Only leaving a shallow wound that caused a small amount of blood to flow out.

The mana to damage ratio was far from comparable, as she would exhaust all her mana far before she had a chance to do any real damage to the magic earth cow lord.

Not to mention, she didn’t just have to deal with the magic earth cow lord, as the rest of the herd had already reached her, one of the magic earth cows angrily attempting to headbutt her just after she landed back on the ground after having leapt over the magic earth cow lord just now to test out how tough it was-

If not for the loud mooing war cry it had made as it charged at her, she might have been caught off guard, but unfortunately, it didn’t attempt to quietly headbutt her. Giving her a chance to conjure up a water blade just in time to cut the magic earth cow in half before it could reach her. The two halves of the magic earth cow neatly splitting apart before falling on either side of her.

Hm... Not as tough as I expected- or did the strength of my magic perhaps increase far more than my physical strength after my evolution?

Curiously tilting her head as she took a second to observe the magic earth cow, she had easily managed to split apart with a single water blade, Scaly could not help wondering if all her strength had gone into her magic after her evolution.

If that was the case, it would make sense why it had been so difficult for her to cut into the tough hide of the magic earth cow lord.

After all, even though the magic earth cow lord was a monster with powerful defense that exceeded its level, she was still a full-fledged dragon now, she should be able to bypass this powerful defense. The only reason why she wouldn’t be able to bypass the defense of what should be an opponent also at the fifth evolution had to be because she had become far more specialized than she had originally been.

If before she at least had some aspects focused on physical strength and close quarters combat, then now, she was entirely focused on her magical prowess.

Of course, this was from her perspective as a dragon, compared to other monster her level, she would still far surpass them in terms of strength. Only, her magic should have reached a far more terrifying realm after her fifth evolution. But she didn’t have any way to tell without testing it out. Outside of the magic earth cow lord already turning around to face her again after having seemingly missed her earlier.

Well... She could check her status, but that was far less interesting than taking down a monster known for its powerful defense...
