Reincarnated As A Wonderkid
Chapter 100: The Relentless Test
The intra-squad friendly match was going well. Inter Milan's first team led the U18s 2-0 at halftime, and Leon felt good about his performance on the left wing.
He was adapting to the new role, finding spaces, and linking up well with his new teammates.
The second half began with Coach Chivu making a few substitutions, giving some of the younger players a chance to impress. Leon remained on the pitch, eager to continue building his understanding with the team.
Around the 55th minute, Chivu made another substitution. A young player, tall and athletic, with a shock of curly dark hair, jogged onto the pitch, replacing Marcus Thuram.
Leon's 'sight' immediately activated, and his 'Analyze Player Stats' feature popped up with the new player's information.
[PLAYER: ANDREA PINAMONTI] (Centre-Forward)
Current: 78
Potential: 91 (!!!)
Leon's eyes widened. A 'Potential' of 91! That was incredibly high, almost as high as his own 'Potential: 94'. This player was a serious talent. He hadn't heard much about Pinamonti before, but his 'Potential' rating screamed future superstar.
Pinamonti immediately showed his quality. His 'Movement' was excellent, constantly looking for space, and his 'Physicality' (Current: 75) was impressive for his age. He held up the ball well, linking with the midfield.
Leon found himself looking for Pinamonti more often, trying to feed him passes. He hit a through ball that Pinamonti latched onto, but his shot was saved by the U18 goalkeeper.
"..."
After the match, which ended 3-0 to the first team, Leon made a point of finding Pinamonti.
"Hey, Andrea!" Leon called out, walking towards him as they walked off the pitch.
"Great to play with you! Your movement is fantastic!"
Pinamonti looked surprised, then smiled. "Thanks, Leon! You too! Your passes are incredible! I was trying to get on the end of them!"
"You've got great 'Potential'," Leon said, trying to sound casual, but his 'sight' confirmed it.
"Keep working hard. You're going to be a top player."
Pinamonti's eyes lit up. "Thanks, Leon! That means a lot coming from you!" He seemed genuinely touched by Leon's words.
Leon felt a sense of satisfaction. He was not just focusing on his own growth; he was also helping his new teammates, just like he had with Alex and Mark. This was part of his journey, part of his 'Help System' quest, even if it wasn't a direct prompt.
....
One month later, pre-season was in full swing.
Leon had fully settled into his new role on the left wing. He was combining brilliantly with Cole Palmer and Julián Álvarez, their "wonderkid trio" already showing glimpses of their immense potential.
He had also forged strong connections with the experienced players like Lautaro Martínez, Nicolò Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni.
They had played a few more friendly matches, winning comfortably, but Leon hadn't yet earned a Skill Point. He'd tried audacious passes, daring dribbles, but nothing had been "unique" enough, nothing had truly stood out in a way that the System recognized.
He knew it would take a moment of pure magic, under real pressure, to unlock one.
Today, however, was different. Today, they faced their toughest pre-season test yet.
Leon walked into the team meeting room, the atmosphere noticeably more serious than usual. Coach Chivu stood in front of a giant screen, displaying the crest of their opponent.
"Lads," Chivu began, his voice firm, "today, we face Atlético Madrid."
A murmur went through the room. Atlético Madrid. Diego Simeone's notoriously tough, aggressive, and tactically astute team. The team that had offered €80 million for Leon.
"This is not just a friendly match," Chivu continued, his eyes piercing. "This is a test. A test of our new system. A test of our mentality. Atlético Madrid are one of the best teams in Europe. They are physical. They are relentless. They will push us to our limits."
Leon felt a thrill. This was it.. He thought about Simeone, his intense gaze, his demanding tactics. He thought about Antoine Griezmann (Current: 89), their star forward, and Koke (Current: 87), their experienced midfielder.
"We will play our 4-4-2," Chivu explained, drawing on the tactical board.
"Leon, you on the left wing. Cole on the right. Lautaro and Julián up front. We will need to be disciplined defensively, but ruthless in attack. We will need to be brave. We will need to show them what Inter Milan is all about."
Leon looked at Cole Palmer, who gave him a determined nod. Julián Álvarez looked focused, his usual quiet intensity amplified.
"It's going to be a tough one," Barella muttered to Leon, his 'Current' radiating a mix of excitement and apprehension. "Simeone's teams are always hard to play against."
"I know," Leon replied, a confident glint in his eye. "But this is what we came here for, right? To test ourselves against the best. To prove what we can do."
He thought about his 'Gaining Skills Feature', the empty 'SKILL POINTS: 0' counter.
This was the perfect match. A high-pressure friendly against a top European team. If he could pull off something truly unique here, he might finally earn his first Skill Point.
The team bus rumbled towards the stadium, a large, modern arena in a neutral location.
The atmosphere was building, even for a friendly. Fans were gathering, eager to see the clash of two European giants.
Leon felt a surge of adrenaline.
A chance to show the world what the new Inter Milan, led by Cristian Chivu and his trio of wonderkids, was capable of. And a chance for Leon Fischer, the seventeen-year-old No. 10, to earn his first Skill Point.
