CHAPTER 31: CHAPTER 31. TALKING THINGS THROUGH

Talking things through

It has been a few weeks since I talked with Mother. In these past days I spent most of my time with Eris, and while she was sleeping, I went to train to get used to the new status screen, but in the meantime, I found some problems in the outer one.

"Hey [Global Wisdom], today I want to do an experiment."

[What is about this time?]

"I want to fuse together all the magic skills that I have."

[Oh, that sound interesting but why do you want to do it?]

"This one is my own system, right? It must not be like the Aesir one, so I want to make some changes, one of which is the meaningless magic system."

[What do you mean?]

"I thought about it for a long time. why the Aesir system was in such a complicated state, and the answer I came up with was that they wanted to have full control over the inhabitants of this world."

[You used your brain for once.]

"I will take this as a compliment."

"For example, with magic skills, it does not make sense that somebody can’t use a spell because he or she doesn’t have the skill, right?"

[Indeed it does not make sense; if somebody has the element magic skill, it should be able to use the magic element freely.]

"Right! So I thought to buy all the elements in the store, but before that I wanted to fuse all the magic skills I have with the respective elements."

[I get it but it will take some time to be finished with them.]

"No problem. I will look at what magic skill I like the most in the meantime."

The reason why I came up with such an idea was that I didn’t want to be limited by my enemies’ rules, and since I needed more people to come into my system, I had to make things easier for them to accept it. Lastly, I found it bothersome to read all of these skills when they would just keep on increasing.

"Now that I think about it, you said I could use the stat points to evolve my statistics."

[Yes, but you never tried it out so i didn’t push it more than necessary.]

"Then can you fuse my force skill with the intelligence stat?"

[Yes, i will be done soon.]

"After that, I want to fuse the following skills: [Mana Sense], [Mana Manipulation], and [Magic Control] with the magic stat. Since you are at it, out of curiosity, could you please fuse the [Life Drain], [High Curse], [Rot Attack], [Paralyzing Attack], and [Corroding Attack] as well?"

[Wow, you are really going allout with this.]

"And I have still not finished."

[What? How much work do you want to give me today?]

"I’ll be merciful and just give you the last one for today’s fuse [Abyssal Shadow Body], [High-Speed Flight], [Absolute Stealth], and [Silence] with the Agility stat, and that is all for today."

[It will take me a few days to do all of this.]

"Could you start with the magic stat and skills?"

[Alright.]

"Once you are done, I will buy the new magic skills in the store."

After finishing training and giving [Global Wisdom] a huge load of work to do, I went to bed.

Even though I don’t have the necessity to do so, I simply liked sleeping with my daughter’s company.

’Now i understand how all mothers feel when they have children.’

I thought before opening my room doors, and to my surprise, I was greeted with a wide-awake and angry Eris.

"Where did you go?"

She asked me with a pout on her face. She looked just so adorable.

"I was in the training hall."

"What were you doing there?"

"What does a normal person do in a training hall?"

"Hmm!"

"How cute you are angry because I didn’t tell you."

"Yes, I am."

"Ohh, how adorable."

I said before hugging her and consoling her.

"But you know I’m not a child, so you don’t have to check on your mother’s every movement."

"..."

"Is there a reason for you to do so?"

"I do."

"Do you want to tell me?"

She did not reply, but I could still see the fear of being left behind.

"No matter what, I will stay by your side."

"Do you promise this?"

"I do."

"But I’m really surprised that you built such a huge palace here."

"It is not the first time you said something like this; what do you mean?"

"I think it does not make any sense to hide it anymore."

I explained to Eris all that happened to me, even the reincarnation part. Obviously, I didn’t tell her how many times I got reincarnated; she was already shocked to know that she was inside a monster to begin with. If she found out how many times I died to get revived again, most probably she would pass out for sure.

"I see, now I understand, but what do you need the weapon for, and how will you get out of this place?"

"The weapon I need to grow stronger and have my revenge on those who betrayed me, even though for now most of my memory is sealed, but thanks to the orb I’m still absorbing, I was able to recall something. And for the way out, I just need to destroy this place."

"Wait, you want to destroy the palace!?"

"Not the palace but the place where you built it is the heart of the Basilisk Lord."

"Ahh... Are you planning to leave me behind?"

Eris looked really worried while saying that; I could not help but feel guilty, so I just looked at her and smiled before opening my mouth.

"Will I still be here if I wanted to leave you behind?"

"..."

"All of this time I was looking for a better way out so I could bring you and the others with me. I reunited with you after all of these centuries. What kind of mother will I be if I leave you behind?"

After we talked for a while longer, Eris finally fell asleep for the first time since I regained consciousness; she didn’t have a nightmare.

’I hope I have relieved some of your pain. I can’t cancel what had happened all of this time but i will make up for it definitely.’

The day after, I was woken up by Rose. Looking around me, I could not find Eris in the room.

I asked Rose where she was; instead, she brought me to a hidden room in Eris’s office.

"Rose, where are we going?"

"Lady Eris asked me to bring you to her."

"What for?"

"I don’t know; she didn’t say anything about the reason."

We walked through the hallway, and at the end I could see a room.

"Lady Eris is inside."

"Are you not coming in as well?"

"Sadly, I’m not allowed to go further."

"I see. Then will you be waiting here?"

"Yes, until you are finished, I will be waiting here."

After finishing talking with Rose, I opened the door in front of me.
