CHAPTER 29: DRACO’S PUNISHMENT (2)
Emilia gently lowered Mimi to the ground, and the little cat crept forward on unsteady paws. Her tail twitched nervously, ears pressed flat against her head.
To a human, Lord Siamelumis was already impossibly huge.
But to Mimi, who was no bigger than a loaf of bread, gazing up at the divine dragon was like an ant staring at an endless mountain, or a speck of dust looking up at the sky itself. The Guardian Deity’s presence was overwhelming, so majestic it inspired awe, yet so terrifying it made her fur bristle.
Mimi’s tiny heart pounded so loudly she could hear it in her own ears. Her legs wobbled as though they might give way beneath her. She wanted to run back to Emilia’s arms, yet something inside told her she had to keep moving forward.
And then—
"Child, do not be afraid. Just tell us what you think," Siamelumis said softly.
Her great voice carried power, but it was no longer sharp or thundering. It was gentle, almost like a lullaby.
As she spoke, her vast form glowed with a brilliance that was neither blinding nor harsh. It was a light that soothed the soul, warm and steady, like sunlight breaking through clouds after a storm.
The wave of radiance flowed outward, filling the space and washing over Mimi. The moment it touched her fur, all the fear and trembling melted away. A deep calm settled inside her. It was like being wrapped in a blanket fresh from the hearth, safe, warm, and full of quiet happiness.
Her little body stilled. Her whiskers stopped quivering. She lifted her head, eyes brighter now.
"Meow," she whispered.
But what she truly said was: Lord Siamelumis... can you hear me?
And to her shock, the dragon replied at once.
"Yes, little one. I can hear you clearly. I understand every word you speak."
"Wooooaaahhh!"
Mimi gasped, her eyes going round as moons. Her fur puffed out, not from fear this time but sheer amazement. She bounced on her tiny paws, tail swishing back and forth in delight. For the first time in her life, she could speak freely with another soul!
Emilia clapped her hands to her mouth in shock.
Even Draco and Ariana stared, wide-eyed, unable to hide their astonishment.
"Alright, Mimi, what do you think of the punishment for the Head of the Silvervein Clan?" said Siamelumis. "Do not be afraid. I will make sure he cannot harm you, even if you give him a harsh sentence!"
"Please, Mimi..." Ariana clasped her hands tightly in front of her chest, as if begging this tiny creature for mercy.
When Mimi turned, she saw Emilia as well. The girl said nothing, but her hands were also pressed together as if in prayer, her body trembling, silently wishing for a lighter punishment for her father.
Hmmmmmmmm...
Mimi fell into silence, her tail swaying side to side. She lifted one paw and pressed it near her mouth, her eyes narrowing in thought.
Well, on one hand... mwehehehe... how the tables have turned!
That red-haired man was finally facing punishment, and that alone filled Mimi with deep satisfaction! She almost felt like she had been dropped straight into a typical Chinese cultivation novel, caught in some ridiculous face-slapping revenge plot!
She really, really wanted to give him a heavy sentence, one so crushing he would never dare to threaten her, or any other magical beast, ever again!
But on the other hand...
Mimi had also heard Ariana’s plea. And, truth be told, the woman’s words made sense. If Draco’s strength were weakened too much, the entire clan might suffer. Worse, innocent people who depended on him to protect them against the darkness would also be dragged down with him.
Mimi didn’t want that.
And besides... she hadn’t actually been harmed. He never got the chance to stab her, thanks to someone stopping him in time.
However... there was still one more little problem.
Damn it... I already accepted his bribe!
Mimi now realized... she had been tricked!
FUCKKK!
That bastard must have known he was going to be punished hard. That was why he offered her that legendary fruit, so she would feel guilty when the time came to judge him!
How cunning. How devious!
Yeah... if she gave him a harsh punishment after eating his gift, Mimi herself would look shameless!
Tsk...
And so, after a short moment of pacing and swishing her tail, Mimi finally made her decision.
Alright!
Her little mind was set.
What followed was a short, secret conversation between the Noctifelis and the dragon.
Meow, meow, meow...
Meow meow meow meow...
Siamelumis listened carefully, her massive head lowered, then gave a slow, thoughtful nod.
"Hmmmm... yes. That seems like a fitting punishment for him," she murmured.
"Yup, that seems like a good , fitting punishment for him." she muttered.
And then...
"Draco Silvervein. Ariana Silvervein. It is decided," the guardian deity declared, her voice thundering across the void.
The clan head and his wife froze, hearts pounding, their eyes filled with desperate hope.
