Reincarnated into a Doomed Novel as an Unknown Extra
Chapter 129: Who Is The Enemy? [2]
CHAPTER 129: WHO IS THE ENEMY? [2]
"Hmm hmm hmmm~"
’I’m freezing...’
[Listen to me next time! I told you she is so cold!]
’I hate to admit it but... you are right, Glutton. I should have thought about that more carefully.’
I sighed as I watched the night’s stars through the glass that covered the entire room.
I was sitting in the pool room, which only contained a big pool filled with a special type of water and was surrounded by glass that showed the sky clearly.
I was wearing only black shorts while the living lantern beside me was wearing a 2 piece swimming suit.
Of course, because of her cold body, the water’s temperature was already under zero.
I wanted to teleport to the other side of the pool, but unfortunately, Selene was holding my hand firmly as if I’d run if she left me.
And seeing her innocent, cute face while she was humming happily was enough to stop me from showing that I was suffering here.
I could use my lightning to heat up the pool, but it was too much work to stop the lightning from shocking her, so I decided to endure it.
"Hey Selene."
"Hm?"
I called Selene calmly as I decided to ask her about something that lingered in my mind for some time.
Isaac face appeared in my mind as I asked:
"Do you... have a dream?"
"Eh?"
Selene seemed to be taken aback by my question, but then she squinted her eyes and put her tail under her chin as if thinking deeply.
Soon after, she nodded with a smile.
"I have one."
I hesitated for a moment before asking:
"What are you willing to do to achieve it? How far will you go?"
I didn’t forget the dream Isaac talked about. The Dark Order had a dream. A dream they were ready to kill and be killed for it. A dream that Taigo endure his torture and smile beneath his pain.
I wanted to know, just out of curiosity... about the others.
The dreams of people close to me like Aria, Zephyr, Cel... and Selene.
Selene tilted her head.
"What do you mean? I’m just going to do my best, right?"
I shook my head.
"How far morally will you go? If that dream means too much to you, will you harm some innocence to achieve it?"
"No," Selene answered almost instantly, "Why would I do this? If I have to harm innocent people then I’ll simply try something else or give up. They do have their own dreams too, don’t they?"
I looked directly into her moon-like eyes. Her breath was steady, her heart calm and no hesitation was found in her eyes.
I smile tugged at my face as I let out a sigh.
’Yes, not all people are lunatics like the Dark Order.’
"What about you? Do you have a dream?"
I shook my head.
"No... I don’t."
"Oh."
Selene paused for a moment before continuing:
"Well, we have nothing to do currently. Take this opportunity to think about a dream — something that you’ll be happy after achieving."
"Fine..."
As we fell into silence, I began to think... What would make me happy?
Something that would take effort but in the end it would bring me joy.
The answer was clear as the sky for me.
It was punishing some guilty sinners and getting rewarded for it!
That was my former job that I liked, but to make it a dream, I had to exaggerate what made me happy on it, turning it into a one time thing that is hard to achieve and might not give me much benefits.
Getting rewarded wasn’t something worth becoming a dream. As a genius Exalted, earning money was the easiest thing to do.
So that left only one option.
’Punishing sinners."
My lips curled into a wide smirk instantly.
In my past life, I had always stayed passive, waiting for someone to give me proof and money to kill someone.
And in this life, I only cared about those who either angered me like the Dark Order or who might put my future life in danger like the demons.
’What about finding them myself?’
Instead of staying passive, what about searching for them without getting paid?
Instead of only caring about demons... what about killing all sinners in this world?
’Yes, that’s it! Cleaning the world from all sinners! Let them be demons, humans, elves, orcs, vampires, the government, the Dark Order, the kingdoms and everyone!’
How would I do that? How could I find and kill all of them? Why would I do that?
I didn’t know.
That was the nature of a dream, wasn’t it? For someone else, it might seem illogical, but for me, it would bring me joy!
I could already imagine it.
A world where there were no sinners, because whenever someone did something bad, they would get punished instantly!
Some would get small punishments according to their crimes, and others would immediately die!
’Do you think we can do it, Glutton?’
[.... I think you have lost your mind.]
’You will be allowed to eat most of them.’
[Of course we can do it!]
With a satisfied smile, I looked at Selene and said:
"I think I have a good dream to achieve now, thank you."
"Oh, glad you—!"
Before she could continue her talking, I stood up and carried her up, helping her to stand on her feet.
As Night Terror began to cover me, I took a towel out of my storage and handed it to her.
"What about you wearing something and follow me to the library if you are free? I want to check something out."
She raised her eyebrow, looking at me with confusion.
"Why too sudden? Is it related to that dream?"
I nodded.
"Yes, it is."
After all, I still couldn’t trust Isaac nor the government blindly. I had to see who was my real enemy.
If Isaac was lying, then I’d continue my plan of trying to change the novel’s ending.
So what if he was telling the truth?
Then maybe I’d have to punish many more people to achieve my dream.
I had to know who the enemy was.
And that would start by visiting the library.
