CHAPTER 56: KAITO AND JAXON

"I won’t fall for your trap again. Die!"

Covering Yamato in Celestial flames, I swung horizontally, sending a fire slash towards the monster in front of me.

*BOOM*

The monster — a mimic that looked like a damn chest — had been swallowed by flames before turning into ashes.

"How aggressive! Are you still traumatized, little Kaito?"

"I want to see you mocking me after getting eaten alive by a damn box."

I gave a threatening look to the demon that was standing behind me, but he just chuckled in response.

"Kekeke, you better hope that your student doesn’t get eaten by it. Unlike you, he isn’t strong enough to burn it from the inside."

I looked at him with confusion. "Did you forget that he can see souls? Unlike US, he won’t fall for a monster like that."

As I sheathed Yamato, I remembered some messages that I got from an Eldorian VIP, then my lips curled into a smirk. "Heh. Actually, you better hope that he gets eaten, because I have heard that your entire race wants him dead now. I won’t be surprised is someone ordered you to kill him."

Jaxon, who was the demon with 4 arms, looked at me with shock as if caught off guard.

He hissed: "I’m not stupid to try to kill him, at least not until we leave this place."

I cracked my neck and started moving forward with a smile.

It didn’t matter if he wanted to kill Yami or not, because I was planning to kill that demon in the end anyway.

Not only him, but as many demons as I could inside this place. If I didn’t give them the last hit, the kill wouldn’t count, so it was possible.

Making peace with demons was a foolish idea. There were many attempts to do this throughout history, but none cane even close to succeeding.

My reward from the first challenge gave an additional ability to Yamato. It was a great gift that made me realize how generous these challenges were.

But I wasn’t the only one who got rewarded. If those demons survived to the end and left with such great rewards, they would become a great threat to Eldoria.

As a loyal human, I couldn’t let that happen, but I also couldn’t just kill them now while we were still in the second challenge, so I planned to wait until the fourth challenge first.

And if I was lucky, I wouldn’t even need to make a move.

2 months ago, when I entered the gate to find myself in this maze, I found only Jaxon at first, but then 2 other demons entered.

They said some bullshit about a couple that ran away and that they deserved to leave this place too, then they attacked us.

Of course, we killed them easily, ending as a team of 2. Genuinely, If the world was filled with fools like them that would give me an excuse to kill them, my life would be much easier.

But I had to admit, I couldn’t underestimate Jaxon. With his fighting style of using 2 spears and 2 swords together, and having decay and venom as his affinities, no one would like to fight him face to face.

*TAK!TAK!TAK!*

All of a sudden, we heard loud steps coming from behind us.

"Hehe, something big is coming! I think we are going to have a big meal." Jaxon laughed while pulling out his Weapons.

"I will take 70%." I unsheathed Yamato and looked at the corner where the sound was coming from.

*TAK!!TAK!!TAK!!TAK!!!*

The sound kept getting closer and closer, and with it, came a strange green light.

’Elemental or glowing monster?’ hopefully it’s not poisoned.’

*BAM!*

A colossal hand came out and pressed with a huge force dramatically on the wall.

Then the monster’s head followed it slowly as if it was coming from a horror movie.

It had a long, curved, lean neck that looked as if it was made of only broken bones without any flesh under the skin.

The face wasn’t any better. It was a humanoid face that was half covered by its disgusting, long black hair. And the visible part of its face was rotten with yellow liquid leaking out of it.

It stared at us silently with its eye sockets that had green flames burning inside them. The flames were too intense that they were lighting up the almost the entire corridor.

*Gulp*

Jaxon suddenly gulped loudly behind me.

Seizing the opportunity, I mocked him. "Hahaha! What? Scared already, little Jaxon?"

Suddenly, the monster came out of the corner and stood at the end of the passage, revealing its entire body.

It had a rotten colossal body that reached to the ceiling despite lowering its head, with thick black fur covering most of its body.

Its 2 huge legs were thick like elephants but with sharp, bloody claws at the end.

All around its body came a countless number of black arms as if they were put there by force, or maybe not that much, but who would waste his time counting them?

Its aura pressure was even more terrifying, because from its intensity it looked more close to reaching Tier 3 than I was.

The monster’s jaw opened wide, coming from it was another hand that had a mouth on its palm.

The hand’s mouth opened, and from it, came a terrifying sound that echoed through the whole place.

"Y̷̊͜͝O̵͙̓͠Ǘ̷̩ ̸̥̊S̵̪̒H̴̗͝A̴̛̲L̵̙͐L̴̤͌ ̷̜̌D̸̫̈́I̷̙͒E̸̗̅"

Once the last word came out, it started charging toward us with a rapid speed. Its legs stamping the ground with each step and its hand scratching the wall.

Seeing the monster getting closer and closer, I sheathed Yamato and patted Jaxon’s shoulder. "Okay buddy, you can have it all. Good luck!"

In an instant, I enhanced my legs and started running with flaming steps.

Like hell would I fight that thing!

Jaxon came out of his daze and realized that I left him alone.

"Wha... wait! Kaito you bastard!" He screamed furiously before following me.

"Jaxon! I think it’s calling you."

"SHUT UP!"

As we kept running with our lives on the line, we — a human and a demon — shared one thought.
