CHAPTER 150: ADAM VS SEO-YUN [2]
Blegh!
The stabbing pain in my chest worsened, forcing me to cough up a mouthful of blood and drop to one knee. I had endured this ever since I came to this planet without much issue, but now it was twice as painful—almost unbearable.
"Ooh, baby. I hate to see you suffer," Seo-Yun’s voice carried genuine worry. "Why do you have to go against me?"
I could tell she meant every word she said—and that pissed me off. Was I so weak that she could fight me and still worry about me at the same time?
Did this bitch look down on me so much she didn’t even need to take me seriously in a fight?
Our lives were on the line.
The least she could do was show me respect as an enemy.
My eyes burned with hatred as I looked at the spirits hovering around her. Even with a strength of 28 points, I couldn’t overpower one of them. It was clear they were more physically endowed than Seo-Yun.
’What are those?’
[Spirit Pact: Gwishin Command:]
Seo-Yun can summon vengeful spirits of the fallen to fight by her side. These spirits retain memories and skills from life, serving as temporary allies or scouts. The stronger the soul’s regret or purpose, the more powerful it becomes.
It was just like my blood pact—but much stronger.
’Why isn’t my Wavelength of Madness working?’ I had to ask.
Everything within a 400-meter radius should be going berserk, yet Seo-Yun and her spirits seemed unaffected.
[Because Seo-Yun has a high Intelligence stat, allowing her to maintain her sanity as well as that of her spirits. If you wish to have her under the influence of your Wavelength of Madness, you must break her strong will first.]
"I see..." My eyes reflected my resolve as I rose to my feet.
"You see what?" Seo-Yun asked, tilting her head to the left.
[Blood Ignition]
Ignoring her words, I took in a deep breath and shut my eyes tight. My veins bulged, each pulsating with crimson light, throbbing like a beating heart.
As my eyes fluttered open, a piercing red light appeared amidst the boundless darkness like a slit.
[Strength: 35]
[Speed: 30]
[Intelligence: 14]
"Show me blood." My lips curled into a smile, revealing my bloodstained teeth.
Bam!
In an instant, I stood in front of Seo-Yun with burning crimson eyes while all her spirits swung at me ruthlessly with their weapons—but I ignored them.
"I just need to kill you. Nothing else matters."
Pa!
SWOOSH!
Dragging Seo-Yun along, I shot out of the rooftops into the quiet streets of Solinthar.
BOOM! BOOM!
BOOM! BOOM!
"THIS BATTLE WILL END WITH THE DEATH OF ONE OF US!"
"ONLY ONE GATEKEEPER CAN RULE SOLINTHAR!"
My voice boomed like lightning as we tore through paved roads, furniture, and even buildings. Anything in our way was destroyed. Civilians ran helter-skelter, screaming at the top of their lungs as they tried to escape the intense battle between two god-like beings.
Bang!
Seo-Yun hit the ground and rolled a couple of times before springing to her feet. Her body was covered in bruises and cuts, but her sinister smile never faded.
"I knew you were strong. I could never love a weak man," she beamed with excitement. Blood flowed down her skull, but she didn’t seem to care.
Her spirits quickly raced to her side with weapons raised, but I just scoffed at their futile actions. I had countless cuts on my body and even spirit arrows stuck in my flesh, but my wounds were healing fast—pushing out the arrows from my skin forcefully.
"And you are weak," I retorted. "It’s disappointing to find out this is all you’ve managed after half a century as a Gatekeeper."
Seo-Yun laughed at my words and rose to her feet.
[Soulbound Oath: Eternal Keeper detected!]
The system warned, leaving me confused at first. But I soon understood what it meant—Seo-Yun’s wounds began healing rapidly, sealing in mere seconds.
It was just as good as my berserk-mode healing.
"Come on, baby, haven’t you heard of balance?" Seo-Yun asked. "While building myself, I also build my army. To invade worlds, I need soldiers. There’s only so much you can do alone."
Hearing this, I quickly confirmed the type of Gatekeeper she was. While improving her own strength, she also invested in territory-building. She was someone afraid to stand alone—that’s why she had spirits even in this battle.
I burst out laughing loudly at her words.
A coward dares lecture me?
"Fool. A god needs no army. A god is complete alone," I retorted with a mocking tone.
I raised one hand to the sky, gazing up at the full moon.
"I will cover the heavens with one hand," I said, before lowering my gaze to meet hers. "I don’t need an army to do this."
Seo-Yun blushed hard and clapped excitedly.
"You’re so cool. That’s why I love you." She smiled, trying to take a step forward—but her sword spirit blocked her with its blade.
I heard eerie whispers from all four spirits and watched Seo-Yun’s excitement fade to mild annoyance.
"My boo would never kill me. He’s just in a rebellious stage right now. I’m sure we’ll work it out," she argued.
’Is she talking about me?’ I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Okay, okay, it’s too dangerous. I won’t approach him." Seo-Yun sighed in defeat.
Only then did the spirit lower its sword and she returned her attention to me.
"Boo, I’ve been a Gatekeeper for 75 years. I’ve come across many Gatekeepers who shared the same thoughts as you. They either became Dark Keepers... or died fighting alone," Seo-Yun said. "Judging from how corrupted you are, you’ll most likely end up a Dark Keeper."
Buzz!
I frowned at her words.
"Why did they become Dark Keepers?" I asked out of curiosity.
Seo-Yun looked at me like I’d asked a stupid question.
"Desperation!" she blurted immediately. "They kept falling into desperate situations while fighting alone. They were forced to use dark talents far too many times. Eventually, they ended up slaves of the Abyss."
