Reincarnation in the 60s: My Spatial Supermarket Brings Forth Wealth
Chapter 207: Experimental Space
CHAPTER 207: CHAPTER 207: EXPERIMENTAL SPACE
The three of them chatted late into the night and each went back to their rooms to sleep until after nine in the morning. Lin Xue got up and freshened up, then headed downstairs where Zhang Yuan and Li Jianshe were busily making breakfast.
Lin Xue watched them fuss about without offering to help, just observing from the side.
After about half an hour or so, the two of them finished making breakfast.
They had fried a few eggs, heated three cups of milk, and warmed up the scallion pancakes Wang Cuihua had brought over.
A dish of small pickles was something Lin Xue had brought from the supermarket, and the slightly spicy flavor left the two wanting more.
"What’s the plan for later?" Li Jianshe asked, having finished breakfast.
Zhang Yuan didn’t answer, looking at Lin Xue instead.
"I’ll go out with Zhang Yuan for a bit. Do you have anything to do today? If not, just stay at home!" Lin Xue said.
She had things to do and couldn’t bring Li Jianshe.
Only they two could handle this matter.
"Oh well! What could I possibly have to do? I’ll just catch up on sleep, getting on the train tomorrow afternoon for five to six days!" Li Jianshe said indifferently.
Even though all three had sleeper tickets, it’s hard to sleep well on the train.
"Alright! We’ll bring you some good food when we return!" Lin Xue said generously.
The two of them left the table for Li Jianshe to clean and went out the door.
Zhang Yuan actually didn’t know where they were going, following Lin Xue as they headed out of town.
Tired and curious, Zhang Yuan finally asked, "Xiao Xue, where are we going?"
"Out of the city to a deserted place!" Lin Xue responded while walking ahead without turning around.
A deserted place?
Confusion etched on Zhang Yuan’s face. Although he usually understood this little girl, at this moment, he didn’t know what she was planning.
"What are we doing in a deserted place?" He asked cluelessly.
"Doing an experiment! Don’t ask, hurry up! We’ll go and come back quickly! I still need to prepare some food to take on the train!" Lin Xue was quite excited at this moment.
Having never traveled long distances in both her lifetimes, this five- to six-day trip thrilled her.
Zhang Yuan didn’t ask further. Whatever this little girl was up to, he was just there to follow.
The two walked a while longer until they reached a deserted place, where Lin Xue chose a flat piece of land to stop.
Standing next to her, Zhang Yuan was drenched in sweat. June weather was the hottest, and after walking such a long way, they were exhausted, sweating, and thirsty.
"Here! Happy Fat House Drink! Chilled!" Lin Xue took out two bottles of cola from the supermarket space and handed one to Zhang Yuan.
"Following you, there’s always good stuff!" Zhang Yuan ruffled Lin Xue’s hair, opened the bottle cap, and handed it back to her, while taking the other one from her hand and drinking.
Lin Xue was always touched by his little gestures.
After catching their breath, Lin Xue took out Xiao Bai from the warehouse, which Zhang Yuan had repeatedly dismantled and reassembled.
Seeing it made Zhang Yuan extremely happy; riding an electric scooter was far more enjoyable and less tiring than a bicycle.
In such a muggy weather, a ride on it would be wonderfully refreshing.
This year was truly hot; it’s already June and not a single raindrop fell, making it hotter than previous years.
After spring planting, it was supposed to be resting time, but with no rain, seeds couldn’t sprout, so watering had to be done, carrying water bucket by bucket.
"You ride, I’ll sit behind! Just ride around here, don’t go elsewhere! If someone sees us, it’ll be troublesome!" Lin Xue said to Zhang Yuan.
"Alright! Let’s enjoy a breeze!" Zhang Yuan adeptly rode the scooter, waiting for Lin Xue to sit comfortably before speeding off.
With a gentle breeze brushing their faces, the sun shining brightly, a loved one nearby, time felt peaceful.
Then, in this perfect moment, the girl sitting behind suddenly vanished.
Zhang Yuan initially screamed, not realizing that the little girl would experiment whether the supermarket space could be accessed while moving and reappear in the same spot.
Knowing the little girl’s intentions, he continued cycling in circles, avoiding the spot where she had vanished.
He worried she might reappear suddenly at the same spot and get hurt.
However, he seemed to overthink as Lin Xue reappeared on the seat after a while. Luckily, she was prepared to grab Zhang Yuan’s shirt right as she appeared, preventing a fall.
"You can enter the space while moving, and emerge still on the bike! This is great, now we can enter the space while on the train!" Lin Xue was ecstatic.
"Will I be able to do it too?" Zhang Yuan asked.
"Come, let me ride the scooter! You give it a try! Can’t have it where only I can do it, and you’re left on the tracks when you enter!" Lin Xue jestingly said to Zhang Yuan, then they began experimenting.
The experiment proved successful, as Zhang Yuan could also enter the space and exit shortly afterward, still sitting on the electric scooter.
Both were overjoyed, finally stopping the scooter and finding some shade under a tree to sit down.
"Quickly, put Xiao Bai away!" Zhang Yuan reminded her.
Lin Xue packed Xiao Bai, then took a watermelon from the supermarket and sliced it up.
Watermelon was surely the best heat-relief miracle, and the two sat in the tree’s shade enjoying it.
This counted as a date; back then, dates weren’t lavish, just simple like this.
Having rested enough, they slowly walked back home, detouring through the supply and sales cooperative for a look, and doing the same at the general store, but buying nothing, finding nothing eye-catching.
In the past, Zhang Yuan might have found things he liked, but since he could access Lin Xue’s space, even his undergarments were from her supermarket, as were his socks.
His outerwear was also picked modestly from the space, and if not, it’d be made by Xiao Yun, so they left empty-handed.
The supply and sales cooperative had seasonal fruits today, but they looked unappetizing, not fresh at all.
Lin Xue said that once home, she’d take stuff from the supermarket, not buying anything there.
Thus, they returned home empty-handed, but as soon as they entered the courtyard, Lin Xue began taking out various items from the supermarket.
Fruits, candies, sunflower seeds, playing cards, and the like.
As for hot food, not much was taken due to the heat; taking too much made it spoil quickly.
Once back in the small western-style building, Li Jianshe was waiting idly in the living room.
Seeing them return, he promptly got up and ran over.
"Here, pick your favorites to eat! I need to prepare some stuff!" Lin Xue gave the items to Li Jianshe and headed into the kitchen, closing the door behind her.
From the cabinet, she took out several aluminum lunch boxes.
The train provided two meals, breakfast and dinner.
Hence, what she needed to prepare were pickles, dried meats, and other items that could complement the meal; as train dishes probably had no oil and scant salt.
She hadn’t taken a train before, so this was based on her current thinking.
She didn’t ask Zhang Yuan, but figured it might be like that, so she took lots of pickled mustard from the supermarket, emptied the packets into the aluminum lunch boxes.
She loved such small packets of pickles, loved them since childhood, without knowing why.
After packing the pickles, she packed several boxes of beef jerky, took three chicken legs from the cooked foods, and didn’t dare take more, fearing they’d spoil without being eaten.
After filling the lunch boxes, she loaded them into the space before leaving the kitchen.
Despite feeling tired, she prepared in advance lest she forget later when it mattered. These aluminum lunch boxes needed external carrying; they couldn’t just pop out so many from thin air.
