CHAPTER 42: CHAPTER 42: HEAVENLY DESTINY 2

"When did you do all this? Why didn’t I feel anything?" Bai Xue got angry upon hearing the assistant’s explanation. This stinky assistant actually went behind her back to find her the Heavenly Destiny person. It’s a good thing she likes Zhang Yuan; what if she didn’t like him? Wouldn’t she be in trouble?

"Boss, I did my utmost for you. While you were busy making money, I was busy investigating the Heavenly Destiny person for you!" The assistant spoke in a tone of wanting to claim credit.

"You went ahead and found me a husband without asking, and you want credit for it, don’t you?" Bai Xue replied to the assistant, not in the best of moods.

"How could it be without asking? I only decided on the Heavenly Destiny person for you. If the boss doesn’t like it, we can just not want a boss lady, right? Then we can cancel the Heavenly Destiny person perks!" The assistant replied, feeling wronged.

"Boss lady? Hahaha... Boss lady! That’s a good title!" Bai Xue burst into laughter, imagining Zhang Yuan’s face, divine yet inviting, calling him boss lady made her laugh uncontrollably.

"However, your choice isn’t bad, quite to my liking!" Bai Xue laughed her fill before she composed herself and said, "Don’t call him boss lady anymore from now on!"

She didn’t want her man being called lady; she preferred men who were more masculine.

"As long as the boss likes it! In the future, I’ll just call him the Heavenly Destiny person! So, boss, when do you plan to bring the Heavenly Destiny person into the space? I need to prepare!" The assistant breathed a sigh of relief and asked.

"Tomorrow! The sooner the better! I’m still worried about whether my supermarket can hold up!" Bai Xue said, "And what are you preparing?"

"Preparing to install a system on the Heavenly Destiny person and also preparing to distribute the perks! These tasks are quite taxing! I’ll probably need to rest for quite a while, unable to speak!" The assistant replied.

"Alright! You hurry and prepare. I’ll bring the person in tomorrow morning! I’m going to sleep now; I’m too tired!" Bai Xue yawned.

Entering the space was exhausting.

"Boss, sleep well! I’m going to prepare!" Following the last sound, the supermarket space quieted down.

Bai Xue’s consciousness left the space, and she fell asleep, unable to be awakened even by nine oxen.

The next day, Bai Xue slept until the sun was high in the sky. Bai Ruyun and her sister had already prepared breakfast and brought it inside, yet she was still sleeping.

Zhang Yuan had come over earlier, and Bai Daliang, seeing his future son-in-law already there while his daughter was still asleep, wanted to wake her. But Zhang Yuan said,

"Uncle, Xiao Xue has been very tired these past few days. It’s rare for her to get some rest, so let her sleep a little longer. If there’s anything to be done, I’ll do it for her!"

"There’s nothing to be done, Xiao Yuan. Come and have breakfast! Let Xiao Xue sleep a little longer!" Bai Daliang felt a bit embarrassed; the son-in-law said so, and he wasn’t going to wake his daughter.

And so, Bai Xue only woke up after the family had finished breakfast.

Recently, Bai Xue hadn’t brought home any good food, so breakfast returned to sorghum porridge with pickles. However, unlike before, the porridge was thick and filling.

This was Bai Xue’s request; no more porridge with mere grains of rice. Bai Ruyun and her sister listened and never cooked such porridge again.

"Xiao Xue, you’re awake?" As soon as Bai Xue sat up, Zhang Yuan saw her and immediately spoke with concern.

"Um... I overslept..." Bai Xue felt a bit embarrassed but quickly got out of bed, folded the blanket, and put on her shoes, all in one go.

"It’s fine, big sister. You rest and sleep a bit more. I’ve kept breakfast warm for you! Remember to eat after you wash up!" Bai Ruyun smiled as she walked in from outside, evidently just having washed the dishes, as her hands were still wet.

"Alright, big sister knows!" Bai Xue hurried outside, feeling suffocated, but didn’t forget to tell Zhang Yuan, "Zhang Yuan, don’t leave yet. I have something to talk to you about later! We need to go to town together!"

"Alright! Don’t worry, I’ll wait for you!" Zhang Yuan replied immediately.

After handling her urgent needs, washing up, and having half a bowl of porridge, Bai Xue called Zhang Yuan to head out together.

The two of them rode bicycles out of the village. Zhang Yuan couldn’t resist asking Bai Xue, "Xiao Xue, do you have something to talk to me about?"

When he asked this question, he felt a bit nervous, afraid Bai Xue’s next sentence would be that she regretted agreeing to their engagement or something.

"Zhang Yuan, find a secluded place where we can set our bicycles, and then we can talk!" Bai Xue thought about it all the way and decided that she must talk with Zhang Yuan about this first and ask about his thoughts. She couldn’t just recklessly bring him into the supermarket space.

Although she was very tempted by the shared perks, she couldn’t be too impulsive.

"Alright!" Zhang Yuan became so nervous that he could barely pedal the bicycle. He finally found a slope, where he set the bicycles below, out of the sight of anyone who might pass by.

"Zhang Yuan, I’m going to ask you something next. You must think carefully before answering, as there’s no room for regret once you do!" With the bikes set, Bai Xue and Zhang Yuan stood at the bottom of the slope, and Bai Xue spoke seriously.

"Okay!" Zhang Yuan stared intently into Bai Xue’s eyes, unsure of the light he detected within them.

"Are you really determined to marry me? Will you never regret it?" Bai Xue didn’t give him much time to think and asked directly.

"I won’t regret it! Definitely won’t regret it. If there’s a next life, I’m willing to promise the next life to you as well! In this life and the next, I’ll never let you down!" Zhang Yuan, upon hearing the question, answered without hesitation.

"Then... Are you prepared to share secrets with me?" Bai Xue asked again.

"Xiao Xue, whatever you want to know, I can tell you everything about me! Without holding back," Zhang Yuan interpreted it as Bai Xue wanting to know about him.

Understandably so, as he was a young intellectual from the Capital City who had only been here for six months. Xiao Xue’s family knew nothing about him and would surely feel uneasy.

"What I mean is, you tell me your secrets, and I’ll tell you mine. Let’s be frank with each other!" Bai Xue reiterated.

"Alright! No problem!" Zhang Yuan readily agreed.

"Now close your eyes!" Bai Xue suddenly instructed.

Zhang Yuan got excited. Did the little girl mean what he thought she did? He quickly closed his eyes, his lips unintentionally curling up in anticipation.

But the gentle touch he imagined didn’t come. Instead, the chilling wind turned into something warm and soothing.

Feeling puzzled, he kept his eyes closed, waiting for Bai Xue to call him.

"Open your eyes!" Bai Xue said.

Only then did Zhang Yuan open his eyes, and he was stunned beyond belief at the sight that greeted him.

In front of him was a department store larger than the Kyoto Department Store, leaving him wide-eyed in disbelief.

He looked at the rows of shelves filled with goods, some he didn’t even recognize. Breaking free from his astonishment, he gazed at Bai Xue, waiting for her explanation.

"Assistant! I’ve brought him in! Are you ready?" Bai Xue didn’t give him the explanation he sought but instead spoke aloud.

"I’ve been ready for a while! Boss lady... oh, I mean, Heavenly Destiny person! Close your eyes! Answers you’re looking for will soon come your way!" The assistant’s voice rang out.
